Astraios had left the pack for a hunting expedition. He wanted to bring home a few spoils, both in food, crafting material, and pelts. He'd caught a small variety of things and stuffed them into a tree hollow so the scent didn't scare away other predators. He was heading back to his stash with a hare when he saw the shape of a small brown bear sticking their paw into his stash and taking a bite.

He dropped his hare and darted forward. “Hey, hey! Get out of there!” He snarled. The brown bear clutched its spoils in fright and turned to him. ‘Drop it!” Strai snarled, prowling closer to the bear.

Food was often on Tarnish's mind these days, especially as he dove more and more into hunting. Now nine months old he continued to wander farther from the raiders base camp, trying to get a sense of prey in various areas and what his options were. Today he strolled the Sea's Plain. It didn't take him long to find interesting prey, in particular a large lizard sticking to a tree. It bobbed its head up and down and Tarnish slunk down onto his belly, his black coat and eyes blending immaculately with the shadows there. He was so focused on the lizard he almost didn't notice the brown bear appear on the other side of the tree til it had stretched up it and started digging in a hollow. Well shit…. Tarnish froze. He wasn't expecting to get in a fight but with a little luck maybe the bear would scoot on by and he could get his lizard…. well fuck… he watched the lizard scramble higher into the tree.

At that moment a yearling appeared and yelled at the bear. The bear turned and took a step back, nearly stepping on Tarnish's tail. "You shithead!" He yelled. The bear looked down and Tarnish sprang up at it, furious at almost having been stepped on as well as losing his lizard. Claws out he furiously climbed the bear like it was a tree. It roared and twisted to get at him but he anchored himself between its shoulder blades like a stubborn tick, just out of reach.


Raider Brats

Strai blinked in absolute amazement as the bear stepped backwards - and a pup appeared behind it. Yelling abuse and attacking the larger bear. For a while three seconds, Strai could only stare. Watching at the pup climbed the bear Delphi style, like it was a tree. Well… he could walk away, but it was still holding his lunch.


Sighing, strai charged forward, leaping at the bears legs and swiping at the tendons behind its knees. “Release. The. Seagull.” He snarled angrily. Did the bear realise how hard that had been to catch? To catch without ruining its feathers? They were certainly ruined now. He swiped at the bear with his cheek spurs as he tried to just make it release the food and run.

Ears pinned tight to his head Tarnish dug his fangs into the bear's back, ripping his head back and forth to shred flesh and fat. He felt the bear stepping back rapidly and knew what was to come. He released the beast and hopped down to the ground just as the bear slammed it's back into the tree, right where Tarnish had been seconds before. This was not the first bear that tried to squash him and it wouldn't be the last. With an excited yell he dove back into the fray, scrambling up the tree like a possessed squirrel and swiping at the bear's face before darting higher up as the bear just missed nailing his rear end with its claws. He would have his vengeance!


Raider Brats

Strai was surprised with how comfortable this pup seemed to be with his bear riding. As strai slashed at the tendons, he realised the bear was stepping backwards, and into him. He ducked away just as the bear collided with the tree.


With an angry snarl, he launched himself at the bear again. Just as the pup did, and managed to rip out the back of its legs. Blood coated his mouth and face and the bear bellowed in agony - and dropped the seagull. Finally. The bear roared again and wobbled as it struggled with its maimed leg. It suddenly started backing away from them, and Strai eased up his attack. He didn't care if the bear fled, he had what he wanted.

Tarnish yowled like a possessed cat, swiping at the bear as the bear swiped back at him. They were in a bit of a stand off and while the bear was an agile climber it was a bit big to risk this tree, not to mention climbing with claws flying at your face was another matter altogether. Suddenly the bear lurched and bellowed in pain. It dropped the seagull and fell back to all fours, clearly wounded to the point it no longer wanted to continue. It started to back away. Tar scrambled down the tree, fur and hackles raised as he hopped toward the bear, again like a cat, and snarled. The bear's sight flicked between them and it continue to back away until it felt it was at a safe enough distance to turn all the way around and flee. Tarnish let out a whoop. Success!
