Warm sunlight tickled the dozing boy. He would constantly roll over, dreaming the most wonderful things. Slumber grasped him like a paw as he sweetly snored. Slowly awakening, his lazy leaf gaze would roll towards the den entrance, his mind contemplating whether or not he should get up or sleep a while longer. The sun was already busily awake and working. It would be such a shame to waste this day sleeping like he usually did. Besides, wasn't he old enough to go outside? All the adult wolves could do it, why couldn't he?

He sat up, shakily rising to his paws before falling over. Frustration burned across his features. He would attempt it again, this time he was able to walk all the way outside before collapsing on the grass. Almost forgetting about his failures, the pup would look around in a gazed and awestruck manner. He never knew his home was this big! He saw forests and lakes with plains that stretched further than he could see. He couldn't wait to explore when he was older. But for now, he had to figure out how to run.

Motif loved two activities most in the world, to test her abilities in a spar against an opponent, and to run, to chase the setting of the sun. well, these where her favourite as long as you didn't count teasing Bass as an activity. She has spent the day before in a friendly spar for the first time in a good few months and she felt exhilarated from the excitement of it. Today, she would stretch out her long, dainty paws and tear across the Serpaint plains. Dashing beneath trees and leaping over fallen debris still left over from the weather crisis they had left behind. She kicked up dust and enjoyed the heat of the warm sun as it chased her across the plains of Abaven territory. She was laughing, her tail streaming wildly behind her and her head raised high in laughter when she realised another obstacle was in her path, she leapt and flew over Tinaro before skidding to a holt, tossing back her head and looking at the little life she had almost fun into.

Her breath came out in light-hearted pants as she shook out her body and took another step towards the young pup. ?Hey there, what are you doing?? she asked, her voice gentle as she looked the little creature over. He looked very young to be out and about all on his own.

He would faintly spot a sprinting fleck in the corner of his eye. He turned to see a larger brown wolf pelting through the grass and obstacles. Motif! He remembered his mother talk about some of the wolves she trained and worked with. Envy caught his emotions. He wanted to be like that, running freely with the wind. She leaped over and halted beside him, greeting and inquiring delicately. He looked up into her blazing amber gems, amazement in his own emeralds. Perhaps he had already found himself a role model.

"Hi Motif!" He greeted with an excited wag of his ebony dipped tail. "I'm learning to run, just like you."

He would swiftly get up upon his paws with ease, walking a few steps forward shakily. He would try to run but his try didn't spell success. He managed to cover a few feet before losing his balance and tripping over his blundering paws. He would look back to the chocolate female, an innocent look on his face. Why couldn't he run? Why was he struggling?

She had caught the pups attention it seemed with her strange entrance, and as her breathing cooled down she took a seat beside the young life, so that she could better see his face and they could talk easier face to face. The pup seemed happy to meet her, and she greeted the excitement with a smile of her own. She was surprised the little thing knew her name, she hadn't interacted much with the pups of Abaven, not with everything else going on with storms and repair works and all the rest of it.

Tinaro would rise, although it did little to make him bigger beside Motif, and would move a few steps before attempting to turn his stride into a run. She rose again, laughing good naturedly as she looked the boy over carefully. He was so small, but his paws where so large and he had had little chance to grow into them. She nosed the boy, encouraging him to get back on his feet. ?I think I see your problem, your tripping over your own paws, there almost the size of your head!? she joked as she stretched out her own paws before him. 'Put more distance between your steps, one foot in front of the other instead of trying to move all at once or tripping over your big feet.? she took an exaggerated stride and turned it into a run, rushing a circle about the wolf in a flurry, her long fur flying behind her, elegant and silver in the sunlight.

The bronze lady gave a good hearted laugh, nosing him upon his paws and exchanging her own knowledge for his own benefit. She stated the problem and that being his paws were a little big. He stared down at his ebony "socks". For a small creature, he didn't know what was big or small. He tucked away her advice in his memory. She showed a demonstration but the pup was more than confident he knew what he was doing.

He would give another attempt, starting off with an effortless walk. After a few moments he picked up his pace, his mind focusing and watching his paws. He narrowed his eyes with concentration. He made sure he had larger strides and one paw would always go in front of the other. He would lead himself in a straight line before pelting in circles and other strange zig zags. Lost in his own excitement, his run became fast and swift. With every stride he took the more simple it became. He had trouble with running? Hah, not anymore!

She would give would advice and encouragement she could before leaving the rest up to him. She stilled her glide and came to a stop again, seating herself on the grass, panting softly and laughing from the days activity's ? oh how she loved to run. Now she would watch him and see his next attempts. She waited as he began at a good wlak, his paws gliding nicely beneath him, and the next thing she knew he was running, first his line was straight, fluid and she found herself nodding and wuffing encouragements to him.

He turned his stride into a circle, and then began to zigzag about the place. She was laughing again, struggling to catch her breath through its force as she watched him. He was going to wear himself out at this point, but she was proud of him. After a moment she leapt to her feet and ran beside him, keep pace with his tiny form.

The swift woman joined him with his run, keeping pace beside him. The pup folded his grey-tipped ears, trying to gain further distance than the female. He found himself about a foot ahead of her, still shooting like a bullet, unaware that his tiny body could quickly tire out. It was best to use all of his rapid energy.

I can run faster. Just watch!

He continued to run while his head was turned to look backwards, trying to find where Motif was. He did not seem to be paying attention where his paws were leading and as he finally turned to face his front, a massive fallen log laid in his path. He couldn't halt, or even slow down. He was too late. It was quick to the boy, but his paws tripped on the log, sending the pup forward a few feet before tumbling in the grass...and finding his left hind leg stuck in a bramble bush by a tree. There was silence as he waited for some creature to come along and say that never happened and return him back to the moment he was running freely. Nothing came, it actually happened. He didn't know what hurt more, his bruised and perhaps sprained fore paws or his hind leg stuck in the sharp bramble bush. He breathed heavily, too shocked to admit his pain or stupidity.

Still laughing, the girl recognised the competitive streak that spurred the little fuzzball on. As he picked up speed she kept herself to his old pace, allowing him to spur ahead of her for a little while. Unwilling to make it look like an easy win she kept herself close behind him, laughing at the paths he picked through the earth, and for the fun of running with a friend. She wasn't weary, she didn't know how much trouble a little pup could find itself in with an activity as simple as running, in fact she had let him push ahead a little longer when he would find himself about to collide with an ill-placed log left over from the storm that had ravaged their territory.

She yelped when she realised his folly and spurred ahead, she was too late he was already tripping over the log as she arrived at her teeth clamped shut over empty air where the scruff of his neck had been a moment earlier, she was just seconds late from closing her teeth around his fur and pulling him to safety. She paused, disorientated for a moment before leaping lithely over the log that stood small for her but large for her foolish little friend. She moved to wear he lay and first she gently pried his leg free of the bramble bush he had managed to catch himself in. Honestly, he did a good job of making this a big a mess as possible. It was slow work to pry the leg free with minimal damage and to gently pick free any remaining burs and licking gently at the cuts. After that, she had no idea how to care for him, she knew some basic first aid and then her knowledge ran dry when it came to healing ? ask her analogize a fight, fine! Tell her to heal an injury and she was way out of her depths. She worked her jaw and thought for a moment ? Harmony was out and she had sudden inspiration that this might be a good chance for Rhythm to see what she could do ? the pup wasn't seriously hurt, some cuts and a sprain and perhaps helping this little life would help give her the confidence she needed to give healing a real go. She smiled and licked the pup on the cheek comfortingly. ?Your going to be just fine? she promised him, and raised her head to howl for Rhythm.
