Marrow

Marrow stretched out alongside the stream, soaking in the summer sun and taking a moment to just relax. She had a long way to go yet to get all the way into Auster. Best rest up. Her nostrils flared. Hmmm….something smelled good. A pale blue eye cracked open and she rolled to her feet. It was then she saw a herd of antelope, one happened to be wounded. Marrow frowned. It was injured but not enough that she could take it solo.

She was considering her next move when a pack of African wild dogs darted after the antelope, chasing it down. Marrow followed along, staying just far enough back not to be a concern. Once the antelope was down she bounded forward, crashing into the nearest wild dog. It yelped in surprise and scrambled back. The others started to bark wildly.

"Troubleeeeeee..." Siduri crooned to herself as she loped along the prairie. She was getting bigger, taller. Almost her full height, in fact. It wasn't much, but it made the girl feel very grown up. And so she was off to get into some trouble, which was her favorite thing.

Sounds of a commotion met her ears and the pastel marked lady sighed with a smile. "Troubleeeeeeeeee..." she crooned again, singing to herself as she pranced towards the sounds. A familiar face stuck out amidst the spotted troupe of dogs. It was the pretty girl! Time to make a good impression!

Bounding forward, Siduri used the distraction of the other girl to her advantage. She bowled hard into the side of one dog, eliciting a screeching yelp and a crack. The dog fled quickly but another soon took its place. Siduri was ready. "Bring it," she growled.

Marrow frizzed up like a scared cat, her hackles on end, but she wasn't all that scared. She hoped toward the dogs, a couple of them flinching back. Before she could spring her own attack the colorful girl she'd fought dingos with came flying in out of nowhere. "Hell yea, let's do this!" Marrow cheered. "We're bringin' the pain to you sorry butt lickers!" With a whoop Marrow dove for the nearest dog, grabbing ahold of its large fluffy ear. It shrieked, paws lashing out at her. At that moment another dog slammed into her, causing her to lose her balance… but not her grip on the other's ear. The unfortunate result being that she ripped the ear right off the dog as she fell. It yowled, shaking its head and spraying blood all over the dueling canines.

Sid was terribly pleased that the other girl remembered her and was even more pleased when she began yelling fun things at the dogs as well. The spotted dogs were confused, but they didn't let that deter them for long. One dog slammed into the other girls side and Sid was quickly on it. She grabbed the tip of its long tail and pulled hard. As she pulled, the dog leaped forward, the force going in either direction left the girl with a mouth full of fur. Sid spit the fur out on to the ground with a gross sound of displeasure, then ran after the dog, making sure that it was on its way out. After that, Sid ran back to the girl and the remaining dog, grabbing its hind leg between her jaws and pulling hard.

Marrow spat the ear out, resisting the urge to chew on it. They weren't out of the woods just yet. The colorful girl was already after the dingo that knocked her over so she focused instead on another dog that made a leap for her, pushing the one-earred dog out of the way as it fled. It reached out, narrowly missing her scruff as she dog to the side, slamming her chest into its knee and dislocating the patella. The dog yelped and stumbled. Marrow whirled back on it, grabbing it by the scruff and pinning it down to the ground. The colorful girl was dealing with the remaining dog, grabbing it by the hind leg. Oh yea they were kicking total ass! Bunching her legs beneath her, Marrow twisted her head sharply, tossing the dog aside. It swiftly got to its feet and took off running. "Awww hell yea, I say we're the baddest bitches on this prairie!"

When the last dog ran, deciding to be smart like it's packmates, typical Siduri bounced after it for good measure, giving it one last parting bite to its spotted rump. The dog yipped and zipped off into the sunset. You know... or something. Returning to the other girl, Sid's pale tail wagged happily back and forth. "You know, we're really, really good at this." This time she gave her name. "I'm Siduri." One multi-hued eye closed in a very suave wink. "But you can call me Sid." The girl didn't even understand her flirting ways just yet, she only knew that the drive to have a female look favorably upon her was high. Some day she would be a lady killer. Not quite yet, but some day. And she agreed. They were the baddest bitches on that prairie.

As her adrenaline started to fade, pain started to take its place but Marrow ignored it. She was too pumped by their victory. While she normally didn't go out of her way to get into a fight she had to admit that had been fun. "Me? Let's talk about you! Dang, that was impressive, and at such a young age to. My name's Marrow. Just Marrow." She'd left her birth name by the wayside years ago, her current name only coming to her when she'd found a carcass that had been eaten to the bones. It was one of the lowest points in her life but she was able to get to the marrow laying in those bones and give herself enough energy to go on another day.
