Marrow

Well this was extremely inconvenient. Marrow was trying to work her way south into Auster but every which way she turned she ran into a pack border. Starlit Plains? Border. Wildberry Grove? Border. Aspen Dam? Border. How the fuck was a loner supposed to visit this continent? The only solution she could figure was to skirt along the borders of the land and the ocean and hope that at some point she'd find an unclaimed area to cross into.

As she worked her way along the beaches into a cove she didn't think much of the ocean. She wandered into the surf and out of it, playing in the water without any consideration that there could be something there. A massive form shot up the beach, fangs bared and Marrow just managed to dodge to the side as a huge leopard seal washed up onto the beach. "The fuck, you serious, lard face?"It seemed so as it started to waddle toward her. "Nope, nope, just absolutely not." She could accept being killed by a lion, a tiger, even by a grizzly bear but not whatever the hell was waddling toward her. Marrow darted behind it, fangs digging into a back flipper.

Tanelan had been having a hard time… and Beauregard worried for his mate. His own anxieties had been elevated, and the man found himself on a long walk beyond their territory to clear his head. He was approaching the beach of hermit’s cove when the sound of a confrontation caught his attention. Moving into a trot, the man would race toward two figures on the beach. The first, a white wolf, and the other… one of those large bastards of blubber. The massive leopard seal was already attempting to round on the girl, and Beauregard lunged for what he would assume would be the shoulder-y area of the beast… though how the fuck did you tell when it was all blubber anyway? Fangs tore into the fatty flesh, nose wrinkling as the taste of salt, blood, and blubber invaded his mouth. Ugh, these things tasted awful… But he knew they were dangerous fuckers and letting one wolf fight them alone was a good way of letting another get hurt.

Marrow

Marrow's fangs sank deep but even so she felt like she was hitting mostly fat. Just… fat. Sure there was blood but how the heck was she supposed to fight this thing if all the important stuff was hidden under such a huge layer of fat. She felt herself jerked forward as the leopard seal twisted around for her. Before it could connect and older wolf appeared and slammed into the creature. It's attention immediately went toward the closest target and Marrow used this lapse of attention to pounce onto the seal's back. Her claws dug in deep and she bit down into what she thought was the neck. It seemed like a great idea but only for a few moments before the seal suddenly started to roll. Marrow gasped and leapt off just in time to prevent herself being squished.

The leopard seal didn’t take kindly to Beauregard chomping on it… and hell, it wasn’t like he was even managing to get much blood with all this fat in the way. If he had a weapon bigger than a dagger he might be able to cut through it, but against these sorts of beasts his best weapons were his fangs. But with the angry beast spinning toward him the only thing he could do was release it and move away from its fangs. But then the girl was on its back and the thing really didn’t like that. It began to sway, and Beau bristled. “H-hey! Look out!” If she didn’t move the damn thing was going to roll over on her and flatten her like a pancake. Maybe they could just get this thing to give up and go back to the water where it belonged?

Marrow

Marrow landed on her feet, kicking up sand as she scrambled out of the way and reassessed her attack. The only vulnerabilities she could see were the eyes but there were also very large teeth at that end and she wasn't super keen to get close. Still she didn't want the thing following her all along the beach. Marrow frizzed up like a startled cat, her back arcing as she scooted closer and snarled. The leopard seal opened its mouth and made a strange growling gurgle at her. She lifted a paw, and again in a cat-like manner struck out at the seal's face in rapid succession, claws piercing flesh and raking through one of the eyes. It made a terrible noise and reeled back. Startled Marrow shuffled back as well, paw still in the air with blood and gunk dripping off her claws.

The woman managed to dodge, and for that Beauregard was grateful. He may not have known the girl, but she was a fellow wolf, and he didn’t want to see her harmed. Lunging forward again, he attempted to use teeth to slash and tear through it, though just as the girl had seen there wasn’t a lot of use tearing through fat and blubber to get down to the part where the seal was actually feeling the damage.Thankfully it didn’t seem too keen on him, and moments later he knew why. As the leopard seal reeled back Beauregard backed away quickly, eying the beast as it retreated toward the water. His gaze shot to the girl, a nod giving to her. “Damn things are a pain in the ass. Nice thinking, going for the eye.” He had seen the wound. It wasn’t going to have sight in it after it was cleaned up he was sure. “I’m Beauregard Ravenwood. Who might you be?”
