Thyrus was sitting under a pine tree, his tail was bent and held aloft by one of the boy’s front legs.  His other paw was busy removing what looked like old tree bark that had gotten stuck on one of his spikes.  The bark piece broke off in various crumbles.  Once it was out Thyrus stood back up, looking far up at the pine tree.  

Somewhere up there he could hear the sounds of limbs scraping and he knew there was life up there that he couldn’t see.  After a few minutes, the boy had to acknowledge there was no way to get up there.  No branches were low enough to reach even if he were the size of his bigger brother.

"Thyrus"

Kintsugi hummed a little song to herself as she walked through the forest, practicing and memorizing the tune that her mother was teaching her. She was a little jealous of the nimble, delicate toes that her mother had that allowed her to play such pretty instruments, but learning to sing so that eventually her mother could accompany her while she sang the tune was a pretty close second choice. She glanced down at her own paws as she walked, watching her large, feline-like paws move across the grass. She knew they were good for fighting and they made her similar to her father and grandparents, but was it so bad to wish that she could change them?

So caught up in her thoughts as she was, she almost didn't notice her cousin standing at the base of a tree in her path. The sound of something rustling around in the branches above was what really caught her attention, but that at least got her silver and aqua gaze to lift enough to spot Thyrus looking up at the branches above him. She couldn't quite read his expression, but if she had to guess it seemed like something was annoying him about whatever was up there. She came over to join him, looking up toward the branches above herself. "What's up there?" she asked curiously, wondering if it was something even worth bothering with.
