Come down, come down sweet reverence

Jynn took breaks from Tojo every now and then to explore more of Auster. While she'd been to every land before one couldn't get the full scope of an area with only one visit. With her renewed interest in hunting she was taking particular stock of the prey and that was when she noticed a large fish off the shores of the Forgotten Isle she was exploring. Herring would dart and swim close to the surface, their silvery skins reflecting the sun and beckoning her to catch them. She'd been working out a strategy when a much larger fish, a bluefin tuna, when swimming through, parting the herring and gobbling a few before disappearing back down. It was even longer than she was! But how was she going to catch something that big without drowning? Jynn scooted farther down the pier, peering into the watery depths.

Sometimes, the bamboo got boring. Same old stalks, same old grumpy father telling him practice more, do something with yourself. Taking the irritable Hattori's suggestion to heart, Jiro went outside of Tojo territory with his new companion in tow. Though he wasn't quite a year yet, he didn't think anyone really noticed his ventures away from Tojo. There were so many of them anyway that it was hard to keep track.

Really trying not to go too far Jiro finds himself just north of Bent Canyon where the faint scents of the once Norad pack used to live. So this is where Imogen had lived. Jiro feels sad for a moment, remembering the story she'd told him about their family being forcibly pushed out of their home. It was short-lived when his gaze comes across a raft bobbing in the shallows along the shore of a cove.

Ahead of him, a large, large boat rests lopsided in the water alongside the shore of an island. More inquisitive with age and more fearless than cautious, Jiro hops aboard and paddles himself out to the sandy shores of Forgotten Isle. He admires the scenery, walking around, slowly getting hungry. His attention turns to the shallows once more to see if there was anything to fish.

Just as he's about to start, heading toward the water, he notices a familiar maned wolf out on a dock. Wasting no time, Jiro makes his way to Jynn with wagging tail and flopping tongue. "Jynn!" He calls out excitedly. Every time they've crossed paths so far has been to hunt something interesting. "Whatcha doin'?" Jiro inquires as he comes to the end of the dock, head canting as he looks from Jynn to the water below.

The herring spawn was such a monumental occasion, enough so that he was willing to take the time away from his family in the wake of the raid. Better to ask forgiveness than permission, especially when the occasion was so time sensitive. With a few nets wrapped around his shoulders, and his macaque travelling alongside him, the island seemed like the best place to get to work. Plenty of coastline to set up the nets on. Of course, that meant swimming all the way there. He was glad he'd stashed his fair share of gear in a few caches all over the continents since earning his freedom, so that he didn't have to wrangle his nets while swimming to the island. Instead, he just retrieved a few from the cache in the middle of the island.

The wraith started towards the pier, eager to get a glimpse of the hundreds of silvery bodies flitting through the waters. When he arrived, though, there were already a pair of rather large figures at the end of it. He hesitated, leaving a fair bit of distance between himself and the strangers. Though he made a point of keeping his attention on them, he couldn't help his attention from drifting to the waters beyond. Even from here, he could see all of those herring. Every second that passed was another second where he couldn't set his nets... "Would you mind sharing your fishing spot?" he asked tentatively, ears flicked back and shoulders tense.

Kaizen did not understand Jynn, but he liked her. He knew there was a lot he could learn about hunting from her, she was well travelled beyond the Bamboo and seemed to know where all the good hunting spots were. And she did not seem to mind him tagging along with her, which was always a bonus. It seemed his brother had the same line of thought, as he had been following in the maned wolf's footsteps too, Kaizen did not mind this, Jiro was his brother even if he did talk a lot.

Tojo had its own fishery, but tuna were seafaring fish and did not often enter the bay. He had never seen anything quite like it, massive with a sleek form that cut through the water, but he knew the effort would be worthwhile. As his pack mates gathered by the waterside, another wolf approached- a koi wolf, but not kin. Kaizen side eyed the stranger, his case of resting bitch face made him look far more displeased by the addition than he actually was, the boy didn't mind at all really.

"Should we gather the nets?" He spoke in stilted common tongue, voice squeaky and pre-pubescent, clearly in need of more practice.

Come down, come down sweet reverence

Jynn continued to watch the fish, noting their movements and pausing only when she was approached by Jiro. She flashed the boy a smile before gesturing into the watery depths. "Fishing! I was going to gather a few herring but there is a tuna, a much larger fish, that surfaces now and then. It'd be a great catch." The duo was soon joined by a third wolf she wasn't familiar with but the more paws the better for this challenge. "Certainly, we could use some extra help." Shortly after his arrival Kaizen showed. Oops, she hadn't meant to lure two of Tojo's young out this far but that said they were nearly yearlings.

Jynn nodded. "Yes, let's get the nets." Jynn moved back toward the shore, nimbly leaping aboard one of the smaller boats that lay half beached. She grabbed a mess of red net in her jaws and started hauling it back to shore. The top end had a few floaters on each corner but the bottom was weighted.

Jynn paused, setting it down to lay out her plan. "Ok, my thinking is this, the net should be long enough that two of us can stand on this dock and two on the other down the shore. When the herring swim closer and lure in the tuna we can throw in the net and drag it in toward the shore to tangle up the tuna. We want to pull it onto the shore and there we can slit the gills. Jiro and I will head to the other dock. Alright, everyone grab a corner and let's get ready."

Jynn picked up one of the weighted corners and carefully headed to the other dock, untangling the net as she went. Once in position she waited, looking to her jaguar Sævor to make the ultimate call on when to throw in the net. Out of the corner of her eye she watched the silvery forms of the herring shift and dart in toward the shore line followed by the tuna, right between the docks. Sævor roared and Jynn whipped her head to throw in her weighted part of the net.

Jiro isn’t surprised that Kaizen tags along, but did secretly wish the boy would lighten up a little bit. Was life really fun being that grumpy all the time? He supposed some of his siblings had to take after their sour looking father. It’s the stranger that draws his attention more though. Another koi-wolf, but not one they knew. Even by the look on Jynn’s face, she wasn’t familiar with him either. Were they not going to introduce themselves?

“I’m Jiro and that’s Kaizen and that’s Jynn,” the boy points his nose respectively, giving the man a smile and wag of his tail before tuning in to what Jynn has to say. Dutifully following his older pack member (who really he thought of as a mentor by now), Jiro assists in any way he can to help retrieve and untangle the large net.

Once the plan is laid out, Jiro nods and follows after Jynn toward the other dock. Taking his corner of net, he waits patiently for Jynn’s companion to let out a mighty roar. His silver eyes follow the shining silver of the herring, his mouth watering at the thought of getting a juicy and tasty bite of fish. As the jaguar roars, Jiro flings his own head out and around to assist in tossing the net out into the water. His gaze then moves to Jynn to see what they would do next.
