it’s a weird looking creature, that’s for sure, but Spider has hunted their fair share of horned prey. still, they eye it warily as the pronghorn moves through the prairie, it’s striped chest heaving in big, powerful shudders. an imposing creature, but one they’re confident they can take down - with a little bit of help, of course. keeping one eye on their prey, they wait for the arrival of another hunter, someone who can help them cinch this creature.

its out in the open and it wasn't his norm to hunt like this. but he blended in for the most part. old snow mixed with the lame sprouts of browning grass creating the grayish terrain that he stalked on. and it looks like he wasn't the only one, as there stood spider: the tiny offspring of basilisk. they met prior before and he felt it was right to join in on the hunt. to assist the prince and offer support. it was authentic to his nature.
and with nothing said, casimir came to lurk near the left side of spider, body low as his eyes watched the medium sized prey closely. pronghorns. narrowing his gaze, casimir awaited spider's lead.

movement out of the corner of their eye draws their attention, and Spider inclines their head in greeting to the white-furred male, pleased to be joined by a fellow pack-mate. “hiya, Cas,” they murmur, voice low so as not to startle their prey. they wait several moments, watching the Pronghorn with Casimir at their side. once they’ve gathered their bearings, they begin to whisper instructions. “i’ll chase it over here and you can land the killing blow. sound good?” they wait for an affirmation, then set off across the territory, keeping their belly low and their pelt disguised. they creep forward as the Pronghorn grazes, ensuring to stay down wind of the creature so that their scent doesn’t carry on the breeze. once they’ve reached a position where they’ll be able to chase the prey into Cas’ path, they glance over at their companion. ready? they mouth.

it's like footwork-, he watched spider affirm him and set off after discussing the plan to which he nodded in agreement to. casimir remained still and lowered to the ground as he watched & learned as spider set off. they crept with skill, keeping their focus on the pronghorn- their dark body moving like fluid over the ground.
casimir's ears splayed, flattening on his skull as his pupils dilated. clenching his jowls, he watches as spider mouthed. nodding once in response, casimir awaits while keeping himself patient & low.

Cas returns their nod, and a mirthful smile twitches along their mouth as Spider shoots forward, a low growl renting the air from between bared teeth. the thrill of it heats their blood, sings through their veins like a childhood melody. the pronghorn shrieks in panic, startling into a run so abruptly it kicks up a spray of soil in its wake. Spider keeps up a brisk pace, snapping occasionally at its flank to keep it moving, and only pulls up when they’ve chased the pronghorn directly into Cas’ path. Spider pants, a full grin stretching over their face as they stand back and watch their packmate. they’ll intervene if anything goes wrong, of course, but in Cas they have perfect faith.

casimir was skilled at being stealthy, glued lowly to the cool terrain as he waited patiently. it's then spider swept through with motion, causing the pronghorn to scurry forward towards the stationed casimir. at perfect timing, casimir jolted forward, interjecting from the left near a boulder. he collides effortlessly into the animal, slamming his chest into their side as he gripped onto their nape with a locking bite. using his arms, he climbed to further support his latch while he held the animal still. the pronghorn sent kicks to his ankles causing him to yelp through his teeth but casimir does not give up. quickly, he releases only to bite the underside of the animal's neck, his arms holding the pronghorn in place. he aggressively jerked about, tearing into the throat and finally crushing the windpipe of the pronghorn with an audible snap- breaking it's neck in a swift and easy kill. his style was of the least suffering. he was not a needless killer.
