In that moment, Gem would have much rather it being snowing. Those delicate flakes would have made traversing through the wetlands much easier, but instead, she was met with sheets of icy rain. Every fat drop that fell from the sky slammed into her with a force that nearly set her back a few paces. She hadn't expected such a nasty storm to be headed this way with Spring not even here yet, but the weather didn't bend to the will of wolves. Because even though an hour ago the sky had been bright blue with fairly any clouds to block the sun, it no longer appeared as such. Darkness shrouded her as she pushed through, driven forward by the wide opening of a cave ahead of her.

At first, it had been difficult to even see the opening. With each passing moment, more and more rain sloshed against her face, battering her eyes, forcing her to squint and dig her chin into her chest. The rumbling deep tones of thunder told her that the storm would not pass any time soon and with the ferocious cracks of lightning whipping at her back, she knew she needed to find shelter sooner than later.

Feet from the entrance of the cave, Gem puts on a burst of speed, yanking her paws from the mud and nearly falling into the cave itself. She stumbles, catching herself from tumbling down the steep incline that leads into the recesses of the cavern. From here, she can tell its massive and goes far back into the red rocks heading west, but how far exactly? Curiosity and nowhere else to be drive Gem into the cavern, first giving her coat a big shake to rid herself of excess water. Each dainty step of paw leads her slowly into the darkness, further darkened by the storm raging outside.
