Aresenn's sharp gaze swept over the rolling grassy incline, his piercing amber eyes scanning every inch for a glimpse of red and black. His heart raced in his powerful chest, thumping like a constant drumbeat in his ears. The cool bite of early spring air filled his lungs with each deep breath, bringing with it the earthy aroma of damp soil and blooming lichen. His broad paws crunched against the thawing ground as he returned to his family’s den - empty, of course. But he had to rule it out. Taking to the cover nearby, it didn’t take him long to pick up the scent of one of his sons.

As his tail twitched with excitement, he carefully made his way through the barren landscape. He had been on a patrol, but he didn’t get to finish it without crossing paths with an interruption. But of course, he couldn’t pass it up as a teaching moment. The icy wind whipped against his fur, but he paid it no mind as he focused on the scent that led him to a patch of vibrant lichen, speckled with frost. Once he drew closer, the scent was at its strongest, he called out lowly - careful to not draw too much attention. “Drake?” There was something worth showing the boy, but it couldn’t be left unattended for long.
