Zagan

Walking along the shore, Zagan is enjoying the sensory stimulation of the ocean inlet. The crunch of pebbles beneath his paws creates a rhythmic sound, forcing him to focus on his paw fall, as he practiced moving across the rocks as quietly as possible. A short distance away, the constant, rhythmic backdrop of the crashing waves created a soothing symphony, as it intermingled with the distant alls of seabirds. The early-morning mist was starting to fade away, the salt-laden breeze rustling through his fur, dousing him in the smell of seawater. Yes, it was quite the peaceful morning- until he heard the hallow roar of a creature nearby.
His elongated ears perked forward, head raising so he could peer down the coastline. A massive sea creature was hoisting itself onto the beach, and staring down at it from a rocky perch, snarling and snapping at it, was Xina. Tsk. Causing trouble this early in the morning.
Zagan gravitated toward the scene, leaping over the sea-side debris to perch himself on top of a fallen log. Snapping his jaws, he released a low bark, demanding the creature's attention so Xina could try and get away. Xina, run away? Yeah right.

His decoy attempt was successful- the beast whirled around to face him, surprisingly swift for its size, as it made a limbering motion to come after him. A throaty bellow resonated from his wrinkly foe, and Zagan snarled back, trying to keep its attention. Nows your chance Xina. But of course, his sister of sorts, wouldn’t take the hint- instead, she took his formidable act as an opportunity to blindside the walrus. Zagan’s eyes widened at her leaping off her perch, landing on the beast’s back to sink her teeth into its head. A tsk came from Zagan, and he followed it up with an irritated huff. Now they had to fight the damn thing.
The walrus was trying to dislodge Xina, giving Zagan the needed opening. Leaping down from the log, he’s racing towards their opponent with lightning speed, covering the rocky oceanside in even, powerful strides. (Well, as powerful as his puppy legs could be!). While Xina attacked its head and eyes, Zagan focused on its side, using his growing saber fangs to rip into the blubbery flesh. Blood spilled into his maw, metallic and warm, a welcoming contrast to the cool, oceanside air.

Now they’d done it. With Xina and Zagan’s combined assault, they’d managed to really piss the beast off- so much, that it was thrashing about, trying to dislodge them both. Each thrash caused tremors to roll through its hefty form, its flippers flopping and flailing, missing Zagan by a few inches. Shit. He had to let go, the commotion sending him stumbling back several feet, as he nearly slipped on the smooth, rocky terrain. Xina had been thrown to the side, and was getting her footing just as Zagan got his too. Together, the pair stood tall, ready to bolt back into the fray.
But the walrus wasn’t alone anymore. Several of its comrades made their way onto the shore, surrounding the bleeding beast, forming a blockade of blubber and muscle. And they were not match for it.
