Xurek had stood proudly at the side of Uruk and Asa when they overthrew Uruk's father. Assisting in the take down of those that dared to challenge Uruk's way, Xurek felt no sympathy. They had been wrong all his life. Had allowed his sister to fall to the likes of wolves. The girl he had cherished would no longer see another morning. A fury that he had been born with now blossomed into a righteousness that would not be tamed. Anyone who dared stand in their way now would meet the same fate.
As the days waned and the coup a success, Xurek took time to learn more about Asa, more about Uruk. They were like him and that was something he wasn't used to. Their like mindedness warmed a piece within him that allowed him to not look at them with hate, but with reverence, with admiration.
With the rise of dawn over the sloping hills covered in buffalo herds, Xurek calls for Asa. He wants to pick her mind as they stroll through the dewy grass shooting through Spring's muddy terrain. Clouds did not hide the sun that morning. Instead, gentle rays of light warm his broad back now alighted with more scars than ever. The tips of his tusks that protrude from his lips tinged maroon at the tips. His green-blue eyes stare out at the distance, examining the scenery, deciding where to go next. Finally, his world was at peace.

A peacefulness had fallen over the monochromatic mare. A peace that she hadn't felt since she was a foal. There was no longer the sense of being shunned and looked down upon. No longer the sense of feeling 'other'. Asa was at the top of the herd hierarchy and would never be on the bottom again. She thanked the blood that she'd fed the earth with for her good fortune. The mare vowed to continue feeding the earth with the blood and corpses of her enemies. A low neigh sounded and the antlered woman lifted her head, sweet spring grass chewed between flat teeth. The distant form of Xurek was met with a friendly nicker, the mare's long, midnight tail flicking in greeting. Swallowing her breakfast, the fiery-eyed horse trotted towards him. "Hniirg, fnarko qukgraega," the mares silken tones crossed the distance between them. A greeting in the old tongue that honored his fighting prowess. Despite being much taller than her, Asa held herself as though she was as tall as the trees. As tall as the mountains. It would be a mistake to underestimate her. "You have need of me?" One brow lifted as she questioned the brutish stallion. "Asa"

The low moan of buffalo draw his attention out toward the south. A rustling of tall grass cause his head to rise momentarily, nostrils flaring, high on alert until he sees that it is nothing but a mink with a fish between its teeth. Xurek snorts, ears turning backward with annoyance at the flightiness of the brown creatures that inhabited these rolling hills. If it were not for the quietness that surrounded him, he might have gone over to grab the mink, end its life for what little it was worth. Turning his attention back to the rest of the knolls, he sees the trees resting peacefully atop small hills where other horses grazed.
One such horse nickered in his direction. Her tone clear and confident, the calling meant for him. Xurek turns his gaze to the smaller but mighty Asa as she nears, her voice carrying across the slightly humid air. "Hniirg, fgukzo," he speaks in deep baritones, ears folding back forward and head lowering slightly to show not only did she have his attention, but his respect as well. "I query to pick your brain. Come, walk with me, bgorezik." Xurek turns to begin a slow amble along the terrain's border.
"Now that you and Uruk stand at the helm, what does that mean for the herd?" There is a plain curiosity to his flat, brutish tone. Xurek, though mostly brawn, does have some intelligence to him. He enjoys learning especially if it included fighting, war tactics, or politics. Nothing fancy or flowery would indulge his interests.

Xurek showed deference and respect, a thing that Asa quite liked and appreciated. The stallion spoke the old tongue in kind and a little shiver ran up the mare's spine. Gods above and below... if there was any type of dirty talk for the antlered horse, the old tongue was it. "ak qihogz wy fo bgorerduk, norukughaid." Asa replied in kind, falling into step beside the giant, tusked man. A curious mind prompted the man to inquire about the future of the herd. So far, she and Uruk hadn't talked about it, both of them acclimating to their new regime. Asa shook out her dark mane, a soft huff escaping through wide nares. "This is yet to be determined. Should I have my way, we'll collect others of like mind. We'll keep the herd safe. Perhaps we'll conquer other herds, other lands." Asa was industrious. She was hungry. The spotted mare didn't want to stop at chopping the head off the snake. She wanted to chop the whole thing to bits. "And you?" she asked, one brow arched again, "Should we choose blood and war, would you follow?" What was Xurek made of? "Asa" "Orcish" |

As Asa comes to walk beside him, he takes notice of her smaller stature for a moment. It was no wonder some had taken her for granted, but it was clear she was capable of proving her own. Xurek admired that in his own silent way. Also polite in a sense that he knew how to mind his manners, his green-blue gaze draws from Asa out to their surroundings. He listens to his hooves trample the grass in the same way the buffalo hooves do. How the fox slinks through the grass following a rabbit. Birds admiring the early morning sun dry the dew from their feathers. Yes, this place was pleasant, perfect for grazing.
His ears listen to Asa's words, a silent nod of confirmation at what she described. Her question is met with a lifted brow and a musing of a smile. "Have you not already chosen such?" Xurek questions. Was he teasing her? Perhaps, but not in a mean way, he would never dare. "Blood and war are the spine of the world. We cannot exist without scars and conflict," he adds on, glancing over at Asa to see her reaction.
