Something was changing in the world... Ember had stayed up most of the night before when the earth was shaking and the unnerving cacophony of noises from outside Hearthstone's walls made their home feel strange and alien. Her father had ordered a total lockdown of the Hallows for the night once the bizarre activity began, and for once Ember felt no compulsion to disobey or challenge her father's authority over this. Something was very, very wrong with the world. Staring out at the blank canvas of black that was the night sky, she couldn't help but wonder if this was some sort of omen from the gods. Was this the end times? Would they all be okay? Worry for her family both inside the castle walls and beyond filled her heart, and she made the resolute decision then and there that she would find out what was going on.

When the morning sun rose the next day, the dawn was a furious crimson red, as ominous as it was beautiful in some regard. Artorias had gathered up a scouting party to go explore the world and see what was going on, but Ember had her own plans. She could've joined her father and the others, but she still wanted to prove herself to her alpha sire. So once the group en masse had departed, Ember grabbed her own armor and sword and went to find a partner to back her up. She chose Rebel and led the way for the two faes up north to where the rumors of strange occurrences were coming from. Whatever was going on, she wanted to be in on this too.

Approaching the borders of this new yet seemingly ancient land, Ember gawked at the vastness of the space that suddenly occupied an area around central Boreas. She had traveled this way numerous times on her trips between Hemlock and the Hallows and she was certain this had never been here before! "Wow..." she murmured, staring up at the massive stone spires that stuck out of the craggy earth like jagged teeth. "I've never seen anything like this before." Casting a trepidatious look back at Rebel, Ember took the first step over the border and into the Prominence, keeping her senses on high alert in case any threats were nearby.

Artorias and Briar may enter any of Ember's threads while she is under 2 years old.

Her mother had told them stories growing up of a huge volcano eruption that destroyed a huge chunk of Boreas, a time when everything was frozen in ice, and a time when the night never seemed to end. These apocalyptic scenarios had always felt like they were in the distant past and almost more like fairy tales than something that actually happened. When the world began to quake and everyone in the castle was ordered to remain indoors through the night she thought about her mother's stories and began to wonder if maybe they were real after all. She was looking forward to the morning and hoped that the sun rising would make it seem like a bad dream, but the ominous red sky didn't do much to calm her nerves.

She hung back when Artorias gathered a group of wolves to go investigate, but when Ember approached her to do her own scouting Rebel didn't hesitate to grab her own armor and sword to follow after the Carpathian princess–partially because she didn't want Ember to go on her own and partially because she just couldn't say no to her. When their path eventually brought them to the strange stretch of land that seemingly appeared overnight she had to search her memory to make sure she just hadn't missed this place when she had passed through the west before. The spires and landscape looked ancient and worn, but how could that be when it wasn't here when she came through here during her exploring? "That's for sure..." she said in agreement when Ember said she had never seen anything like this before, exchanging a glance with her before they both stepped into the red-lit land to get a closer look.
