Hades returned yet again, ready for every bit of violence that would come his way next. His massive paws crushed the foliage beneath his weight, leaving a trail in his wake. His eyes were hard, and sharp, as determination filled them. His steps were steady, filled with confidence, perhaps wrongly placed in himself. Thera and Skotos a shadow above him, before Thera darted ahead; crying out sharply as she landed on a nearby rock. Hades lifted an eyebrow at her as he entered the clearing she found with a pleased chuff. Then his head raised on his shoulders as he surveyed his surroundings. Charon, meanwhile, prowled silently by his side, a low growl falling on the air as Hades called out for a sparring partner.

THAT'S WHAT I HATE!

Entering the battlefield, Zagan didn’t have a particular opponent in mind- he was just looking for a fight- a means of burning off some of his frustration. And he didn’t want to spar with any of his packmates- he’d done that relentlessly- so much, that he could almost predict their attacks, their strategies. He needed someone new to pit himself against.

He was trotting along the eastern border of the battlefield when a call rang out- a summons for a sparring partner. He didn’t hesitate to gravitate toward the call. It led him to a large clearing- a pup not much younger than himself, standing on the opposite side. The challenger. Testing the air, Zagan recognizes the scent that bathes the stranger. Insomnia. The pack that foolishly raided them last season.

A scorching wave of anger bubbled in Zagan’s chest, his pelt bristling, his quills flaring, as he fell into an offensive posture. In the sky above them, his raven was circling, and at his back, his panther was watching. “Looking for a challenge, Insomnia boy?” He growls, his voice low and challenging- but his lips are pulled into a sharp, perverse grin- the thought of inflicting pain beckoning to the deeply rooted sadism in his soul.

Hades grinned at the bastard that opposed him, aggression glinting in his mismatched eyes as he lowered his head. His lynx staring down the opposing panther, a challenging growl releasing from the pits of Charon's chest. As the purple boy spoke to his Hades jaw twitched, lip lifting just a bit. Yes, his mother was the leader of Insomnia, but more than that he was something better. "Yes, however, I am a Dunamis boy." he spat back, lips curling into a slightly manic grin. Revealing the glint of his metal teeth on full display. Better yet though, the challenger that stood before him was mutated. An equal. Hades was excited. If he lost this battle it would not be a bruise to his ego, only a reason to get better.

Hades lunges, jaw spread wide as he aims to barrel at his opponent. And then at the last second, snapping his jaws shut, he would raise himself onto his back legs, resembling the bear he was mutated after. And then aim a gruesome whack at the bastard that stood before him, if his aim was true his paw and claws would scrap against the left side of the boys face.

THAT'S WHAT I HATE!

Dunamis boy. Zagan hadn’t heard that name before- assumably, it was a surname- but regardless, it meant nothing to the Saxe. His focus was on the impending battle- the intoxicating rush of adrenaline- the high of spilling blood and inflicting pain. As he stared at the boy, his bi-colored eyes came alive- gleaming with predatory, feverish delight- tracking his every move, and readying himself for the onslaught.

And suddenly, the Dunamis boy was off- charging at Zagan, snapping his jaws and initiating the fight. Zagan braced himself- every muscle growing taught beneath his thick pelt- a wild, manic-sounding snarl bubbling from his jaws.

He braced himself for an impact, but it never came- instead, his opponent rose onto his back legs- and Zagan took the opening. Muscles strained and sinews stretched as he shot off his hind legs, ducking and attempting to dart under the reared-up boy. His quills were standing erect as he moved- meant to stab into his opponent- while his snapping jaws aimed at the boy’s right hind leg, where it connected to his abdomen.

But he could not completely avoid the bear paw swiping at him- it slapped against his left shoulder, tearing into his skin, which earned another snarl from the Saxe. Searing pain shot across his leg- but he did not stop.

Hades eyes tracked his opponent as he moved, ducking under him. he shifted as he tried to move away from the snapping jaws that were beneath him, bear plays lashing out to try and find purchase on his opponent's back to stop himself from being punctured by the quills upon his opponent's neck. But even then, he felt the hot flash of pain as Zagan's teeth dug into his back leg, near where his knee was. And Hades growled back, lunging forward with his teeth, aiming a bite at the mid back of the bastard before him. Not going for the spine but instead, the thick muscle beside it, today was not a day to maim. Then he would move one paw no matter if it had landed on his opponent's back or not, and aim to dig his claws into the upper portion of the boy's rear.

THAT'S WHAT I HATE!

Adrenaline was coursing through Zagan’s body- a hot, writhing, pulsating force- flooding him with a surge of raw, unrelenting energy. And when that adrenaline rush mixed with the intoxicating taste of blood, well… Zagan started ascending into a higher state of mind- a state of ecstasy.

Another bout of manic laughter bubbled from his jaws, the sound muffled by the knee in his mouth. He was still beneath Hades, intertwined in an awkward grappling match- so there was no avoiding the teeth biting into his back, or the claws digging into his rear. Instead, Zagan took the brunt of the boy’s attacks, readying himself for his own retaliation.

Releasing his hold on the boy’s knee, Zagan attempted to shoot forward again- trying to uproot his opponent, to throw him off of Zagan to pin him down. In sync, he’s throwing his head up and into the body above him, trying to stab Hades with his Eland horns.
