between my pride and my promise

I can't feel the way I did before
Don't turn your back on me
Dark paws carried the young wolf in an effortlessly ground-eating lope. Attention seemed to be focused completely on the old, cold trail she followed but gray ears flickered constantly, cataloging each sound to reach her. Each rustle, each crackling twig, captured and sorted according to risk factor.
Katja paused where the trail vanished at the edge of a muddy flat area. Damn, she'd been hopeful about this one. Her oh-so-dangerous, crazy cousin had been here at some point recently, but not so recently that she could hope to track him without this trail. Black-masked face rose to survey the area imperiously, but her eyes could see no further sign. Pity. She could have ended her self-imposed exile from their family before it had truly begun.
Each slim black paw was set down carefully before her as the Finnvi wolf made her way past where she'd lost the trail. No point in continuing to shake a dead rat, after all. "?it skyli hjarta rafnar sl?ta," she muttered to her absent cousin. (Old Norse - translation: "Ravens tear your heart asunder") It seemed she would be in this heathen land for longer than she'd hoped after all. It would behoove her to learn more of it, and that would be best accomplished in finding a native. Gold-flecked mercury eyes gazed around with intensity, as though simply wishing it would conjure another wolf.
"Speech"

I won't be ignored
Time won't heal this damage anymore

Wide sapphire eyes stared in unblinking silence at the rocks as the moved and shifted across the dry lake bed. It had rained earlier in the morning and the mud trails left by the gliding stones gleamed in the sunlight. This place possessed old magic? deep magic. She could feel it setting her fur on end and slowly the beauty's eyes closed. Au?ra focused her mind and her senses, her thoughts whispering out to Ullr to aid her on the hunt for first her sister? then her wayward cousin.
Au?ra did not have to wait long as the warm and familiar scent of her sister wafted to her nostrils. She was close. The pale fae had nearly caught up with her darker sister. Rising gracefully to her feet with ghostlike elegance Au?ra set herself to the trail.
She had not journeyed long before she came upon her sister's form, cursing softly.
"God dag, lilles?ster." Au?ra's voice was soft and calm as it parted from her maw. She did not speak often, finding the language barrier a sometimes frustrating hurdle to overcome but she felt more comfortable with her sister than really any other wolf she knew. She also didn't want to startle the ebony femme though Au?ra was certain she'd been seen. Heard was always another story as the snow dusted fae was nearly silent in her movements. Her tail was wagging lightly as she stepped over to the other fae hoping to offer her a quick nuzzle of affection and greeting.
"Noen lykke?" She asked if her sister had had any luck. It seemed their cousins scent trail was constantly meandering. It was musty and difficult to follow but she trusted her little sisters skill in tracking.

ooc: Au?ra understands more English and German than she is able to speak so feel free to use either, she'll most likely understand.

Au?ra leaned over to lick gently at Katja's tail as she brushed by. She appreciated the gesture and had always felt comfort in the touch of her family. Au?ra listened closely though she didn't need words to feel her sisters frustration. Hackles raised, the tone, and Nein? no. No luck in finding their cousin it seemed. The snowy femme let a sigh slip from her darkened muzzle. That was most unfortunate news. She wondered if anyone else in the family had had better luck in tracking down the wayward Jaegar. It seemed that none would rest til he was found.
Au?ra appreciated her sisters effort to communicate with her, even trying to learn the language of the femme's captors. She too had worked to try and re-learn the language of her family though it had been tough going. She nodded. She knew most of what her sister was saying and it didn't take much to guess Katja's question either.
"Nei." She had had no luck either in tracking Jaegar and hung her head as she sat, fur standing slightly on end as a soft growl slipped from her maw. She hated him for making the family track after him so. The coward. Her temperament softened as her sapphire gaze turned back to her sister "Jeg s?kte du, Katja. N?, Jeg s?ker Jaegar." I sought you, Katja. Now, I seek Jaegar.. Another growl from her maw replaced any curse she might have slung and was quickly followed by a defeated sigh. "Jeg ser sulten." She was hungry and her right paw moved gently to her stomach.
