The day was indeed a rainy one. Although spring had found its way to the island, the weather still brought a light chill to the inhabitants. Maija was put off by the rain, bringing a somber air to her mood. She recalled the first time she met Taurig and the rain had come down in turrets. It drove her crazy that day and she ended up getting soaked enough that curling next to a man she barely knew was her only option of getting dry.
Her tail thumped against the ground as she lay curled around her children. Taurig had gone out to search for dinner, of which was not hard to find these days. The warmer weather had brought out the friskiness in their prey, so the chances of new babies to eat were high. She licked her lips at the idea of bearing down on a piece of deer, but kept the thought to herself as Fakira pulled himself from his group of brothers and sisters. Leaf green gaze that was unreadable met his and she raised her left eyebrow halfway up. "G?ndurile pe mintea ta, my sunshine?" 'Thoughts on your mind, my sunshine?'

His dreams were teeming and bright. Reflections of the imagination that Fakira posessed, he wriggled in his sleep, chasing after something that was just ahead, just through the mile high grasses and shining sun. Yet even through his slumber he could hear it - just barely, the sound of rain pitter pattering in the distance. It was what slowly woke him up, the reason why he peeked his eyes open and with heavy steps he would pull away from the warmth of his mother and siblings. The boy's face was devoid of expression save for subtle curiosity, as he stared out of the mouth of his family's den. "It's - it's raining mama." He would say loudly at first, but immediately quieted down after he realized the decibel of his voice - he didn't want to wake his slumbering siblings.

"It woke me up - but it smells nice." He would gently smile at his mother, before going over to her and wagging his tail as he looked up at her. "Putem juca in ploaie?" His romanian was smooth, but childish - as he was just that. Not to mention he heard more english from the rest of his family. Yet he was used to his mother and her soothing bilingual tongue, at the very least, he could ask whether he could go outside and play.

And who better to face something new, something that he had seen and heard but not been in - than with his mother? She wasn't the most playful, but having her there made him feel more confident - and honestly, all of the water falling at once sounded like quite the torrent to a pup as young as Fakira. "Pleeease?"

They say that mothers will go to the ends of the world for their children. Maija had never understood why they would, until she saw the look in the blue eyes on her son's face. A gentle sigh escaped her lips and she hid the forlorn look in her own eyes as she looked at the rain outside. She despised the rain, especially when it was a cold shower. However, the spring was already there and the water was due to be warmer than the first storm she had been caught in all that time ago with Taurig. She knew there were going to be sacrifices; she just didn't know this would be one of them.
"Desigur, micul meu crepuscular prin brazii intunecati," she said, a very tiny hint of resignation evident in her Romanian tones. She thumped her tail lightly on the ground before she easily maneuvered her form away from the sleeping pile of puppies. Maija would make sure to keep an ear out for them. The rain wasn't coming down that hard, so she would be able to come racing back to the den if something came up. Once she was free of the sweet group of sleeping babies, she shook all over and stood next to Fakira. Her gaze met his and she offered a soft smile. "După ce, Fakira."
