GETTING STARTED
Welcome to Ardent! Ardent is a semi-realistic wolf and other species roleplaying forum. Our community has been running for over six consecutive years, starting in 2012. We moved to our own host in 2015 and changed our name in 2016 to give us a fresh start.
Since we are semi-realistic, this means that we do accept some unusual fur colors and markings, although some need to be purchased, odd eye colors, as well as sizes that are different from wolves in the wild. Additional species, as well as companions of different species, may also be purchased from our gemstone store.
Please note, as we are a more free-form roleplaying forum that there is no site-wide plot for Ardent. We allow our players to create their own plots, however small or large. Many of the biggest site-wide plots have been fueled by character rivalries, family ties, and spars! We do occasionally have site events that you can choose to participate in, but mostly we encourage our members to create their own plots so that nobody feels constrained or limited!
If you have decided to join Ardent, the first step is to read through the Guidebook! Don’t get overwhelmed by our fighting section; while the fight system is different here, it is not that hard to pick up, and there are many members and staff who are willing to help, and it will always be there as a reference - there's no need to study it until you're in a fight!
Once you're done, you'll want to fill out your profile completely. Please note, new members can get one gemstore item worth up to 400 gems to be used on their first character only.) Afterwards, please post in the "Character Creation" forum. Keep an eye on your post just in case anything needs to be fixed before you're accepted. Once your account is ready to go, you can either jump straight into roleplaying by posting in the forums (beware of trespassing! The lands linked on the index page are claimed by packs; please click the name of the region to go to a list of unclaimed lands), or by posting a plot thread of your own, or replying to another user's plot thread to come up with some ideas before getting started!

Unique Features of Ardent
Gemstones: Gemstones are the unique currency that is used on Ardent! Posting in-character will earn you 5 gem, and starting a new topic will earn you 8 gems. They can also be claimed for fulfilling art requests or selling art, and sometimes for participating in & winning site contests and events.
Skills: Skills are a new feature of Ardent, where one of five skills (fighting, hunting, healing, navigation, and intellect) can be leveled up and mastered. They are completely optional, and currently do not give you any benefits, though we encourage you to consider them as they can add a lot of depth to your character and give you something to work towards.
