THANK YOU CANTTINA!

Oh, how things had changed. New scents caught heavily in her nostrils, old ones were faint, some nearly lost. The first time she had been here had been at dusk, much like tonight. The land had been so enticing to her, but now it simply seemed dull like everything else.

Had anyone noticed her absence? No one had searched for her, just like he'd said. Even... No, thinking about him wouldn't help now. Angeal must have given up on her like everyone else. He didn't come after her and she couldn't smell him here any longer. He had given up and abandoned her, probably thought her dead and found something else to make him happy. She'd almost believe she was dead herself, if she couldn't still feel the pain from her torture.

That fateful day was still vivid in her mind. Liste had finally found her perfect happiness in Ludicael, a more beautiful and happy life than she had ever imagined for herself - and of course, it was over before it had truly begun. She thought he had given up on her when he saw she wasn't alone, or maybe that he had been a figment of her imagination, but her father had been as real as ever when he took her in the night. The only sound he made when he came was to tell her he would kill her friends if she didn't obey. Then he had latched onto the scruff of her neck and dragged her alongside him and out of the pack's territory, out of Alacritia.

Secretly, Liste had always hoped her mother was wrong about her father, but he truly was the rapist and murderer she had known him to be, and his daughter was no exception. Night after night... It wasn't worth remembering. The last time was all that mattered...

Her wounds were still fresh from his last go-around. She felt the hot blood soaking her fur and the sharp pain that came with every breath. It didn't deter him of course. It never did. She was fed up though, and she was certain that if this continued she would die. She struggled to lift the front of her body from the ground, took a deep breath, then twisted away from him. She ignored the flesh that ripped away with his teeth when she moved as she blacked out, only to come to again when her mouth was slick with blood and his body lay torn before her.

The incident had made her wonder what exactly she had inherited from her father. Clearly, it hadn't been nothing, and discovering that side of herself only contributed to the extreme change within her. She was no longer fit for a pack like Ludicael and she knew that, but whatever she thought and felt had made her no less respectful. As she had on her first day here, she stood on the border and loosed a call for the Sol, something she would do for the last time.
