Winter was the most dangerous time of year to be a rogue wolf. Not only would the temperature slowly begin to drop to a lethal degree, but prey would become scarce and that much harder to hunt. If a wolf were alone, this could be the season that meant death. Only the strong survived alone.

The air was crisp, clean, and frigidly cold. It was a perfect afternoon to do absolutely nothing. The wise would stay sheltered from the dead cold, nesting and burrowing for warmth. But the brave would trek this brutal weather. And sure enough, the tracks of a lone wolf could be found marred in the snow. They belonged to a brute, massive in size and dark in color. His gait was long and quick; by no means was he ?wandering?. He had purpose in each stride and it showed in in the fluidity of his gait. Instinct told him to go out and search. He needed to find it... whatever ?it was. Hence, the purpose in his step. He would cease all migration until he had found it. And when he had found it, he would know.

Purpose had brought him to the Ravine. He was migrating westbound ? following the sunset, as his father had always advised. And the setting sun had brought him the edge of the Ravine. Its cliffs were the perfect vantage point to survey unexplored lands. Nature was driving the wolf to explore the unknown in search of it. Were others searching for it too...? Had they already found it?

The wind blew from the North and the wolf lifted his nose to catch scent of the world. Surely that breeze would carry his scent too. And a smart wolf would be wise to continue to migrate. But not Neju. He remained on the cliffs of the Ravine, surveying the grounds below him. He had quite a distance to travel. And every step he took would have purpose and direction. So he continued to arch his nose to the North and inhale every creature that was nearby. The pungent odor of wolf was omnipresent.

He was not alone.

ooc: haha, crappy 1st post! xD

She had been wandering the lands since she arrived in Seracia, not able to stick there while the war raged where she had called home with Demonio. All she could do there was sit around, her skills going to waste. How was she suppose to learn what she wanted when most the wolves of that pack was either old or pups? Seraphine would sigh heavily as she moved through the lands, head held low but level with her shoulders. Stump tail would wiggle behind her, good ear swiveling to the side, listening to the small creatures in the distance, and to anything else that could try sneaking up. The girl wasn't dumb, she knew to keep her guard up, even if she was a big wolf. Even the smallest could bring her down with the right skills.

A few minutes of walking and she would come upon a ravine, not deep, just a few feet deep. She would carefully approach the edge, looking down. She had been here before, this was only one of the ends, the middle section was much deeper. "Hm..." She'd hum, lifting her head and turning to walk along the edge. A shift in the wind would bring a scent into her nose, making Seraphine come to a stop. Head would lift, nose flaring to taking in more of what she had smelled. Somebody as close, real close. Slowly paws would carry the scarred girl forward, the figure of a wolf appearing just a few feet away. "Hello." She would bark softly, stopping once she was a few feet away.

OOC:: You're beautiful ;] I shlove you and your posts. Mine is a tad wordy. Late night muse. :P

What was he searching for? What had made the wolf start his journey in the first place? It most definitely wasn't for company. The brute had lived a solitary life most of his days; the idea of traveling alone did not ail him. But still... what was this everlasting yearn to search for something? It called to him; it drove him on his journey. He would not stop until he had found it...

The wolf had trained himself to never let his mind wander. While the aching desire for it ran hot through the wolf's blood, he never let it consume him. The mind would want to dance away with ideas of what it could be. But not Neju. He had trained himself to always remain present with the ?real world?. Because even if one let his mind wander away from the ?real world? for the slightest of all seconds, that's when he would be the most vulnerable. And Neju would never be vulnerable.

With his nose attuned to the wind and his mind focused with reality, he could smell her. He could smell her before he heard it her. If he could smell her, that meant she was close enough to catch wind of his scent too. It wouldn't take long before the distance between the two would decrease. Any other wolf would be wise to continue to journey onward; the smell of wolf was too strong in this area. Where there was one, there would be others. Any other wolf would be wise to avoid confrontation. But not Neju. The idea of others did not stress him. Instinct drove him on his journey; he was bound to trespass into pack territory sooner than later.

?Hello.?

She spoke. Quietly. Cautiously. Lightly. Neju could hear the curiosity in her words. Because undoubtedly, he was a stranger.
He turned to her, to acknowledge her out of courtesy. And when he turned his gaze to meet hers, the face did not match the voice. The wolf had been expecting to see the dainty little mask of a she-wolf. But what met his gaze wasn't all he had anticipated. It was a she-wolf, yes. But scarred and maimed tremendously. Where should've been fur on the little femme, there was only skin. She was quite a mysterious sight to see. And Neju felt himself gawk out of awe.

But it was rude to stare. And the wolf immediately shook in his to break his gaze. He wanted to apologize for staring, but... Maybe she hadn't noticed... And maybe he could...

Awkward.

Silence. A silence too long making it awkward. At least for the brute. "Uh--" He choked out a sound before shaking his head again and continuing." ?Hello, m'lady.?" Chivalry was not dead. And perhaps this female would be able to help him... Maybe she knew which way to find it... Would she know?

She was used to it, at least, that's what Seraphine always told herself. The girl was different from a lot of wolves around her, they had thick fur covered in beautiful designs and colors while she had... horrible scarring on her body, the loss of half her left ear and most of her tail. The yearling would sigh, her head turning away from the man, going left so that he didn't have to look at the scarred half of her face. Yes, they always stared, some tried to play it off, but she knew, it wasn't that hard. Sometimes she caught herself wishing upon the stars that the hair would grow back, that eve if her ear and tail didn't, at least she would look a bit more normal. People wouldn't look at her like some kind of freak.

From the corner of her eyes she could see him shake his head, probably trying to pry his gaze from her scars. Seraphine would raise her head high, holding herself proudly. She wasn't one to whimper like a pup just because others look at her weird, this was part of her, made her who she was. She should be proud. On the bright side, she could joke around that she got guys attention. Yes, don't look at the negative.

After a few moments of silence the man would finally speak, greeting the young girl. Blue and golden orbs would look him up and down, just getting an idea of what he could be capable of inflicting on her if he decided to strike. "Are you looking for something sir?" She would ask curiously, her bi-colored eyes finally looking to his face, locking onto his gaze. When she had approached it looked like he was looking at something, perhaps judging distance to the place he needed to reach, but the look on his face seemed like he was searching for something.
