Her world had always been draped in a veil of silence, not a sound having escaped from her now dusty throat. Since her meeting with Taurig and once more finding Aeron she had grown a bit more of a desire to speak, to communicate with those around her. But after everything was said and done the young girl had once more slithered into the shadows of the north, not wanting to bare the harsh winter alone but not wanting to watch her brother wither away or have him watch her do the same. It was their birth season now though without their mother or any other wolf who might have known them at birth her exact birthday was unknown to her. At a year old now she had survived purely by scavenging, sometimes from the kindness of strangers but mostly from waiting until other wolves had taken down a large prey animal and then left it. On occasion Aeron or she would be able to catch something but that was even more rare. Their hunting skills were sorely lacking, having never properly been taught or trained. Though she was getting a bit better... Just in time for winter...

She moved like a ghost in the gloom of the night, a sliver of a moon hanging in the clear sky just enough to outline her slender form as she skirted the edge of the lake. She had been here before, having made the north her home since she had first found her brother here. This is where they usually were, a pair of wayward pups discarded in the snowy wastelands... This was one of her favourite territories other then maybe the submerged woods. Slowly she would turn, heading inwards the centre of the lake. As each paw pressed to the ice it would glow dimly beneath her and as she watched a slow smile eased its way onto her features. Closer to the middle she slowly lay down, enjoying the warm glow of the lights beneath her despite the hard ice she lay one that simply made her colder. She could feel the ice beginning to get slick beneath her, only slightly as her body heat warmed the surface slightly. The young girl waited a short while longer before she began to roll, dampening herself slightly in the process. She had done this a lot in the summer and tonight was probably one of the last mildly warm nights she had to try it out. Once she was coated the girl stood but didn't shake. For a very short time she would glow like the ice, whatever was in the ice and now water in her cost illuminating her figure where she had rubbed it on herself.

The man could not help himself from lingering in the north. He had become accustomed to the constant chill and the old forests that marked the land. To be forced from his pack lands temporarily would not discourage him from continuing a life here. He had never visited the lake here before but viewed it from afar and as there was nothing to occupy him he decided he would take a more thorough account of the north lands. Snow would dust the man's black coat which had thickened in the rise of cold weather. Deteste understood that the lake was frozen year round and he placed great trust in the ice as he stepped his large frame upon it, his gait building in steadiness but not leaving it's brisk but leisurely place. He would watch with some wistfulness as the ice glowed beneath him, remembering the warmth of Ludicael and the rainy winter he spent among it's land. He had in a sense become a man without a country and he would not find rest until he had claimed a home for himself.

Deteste's trot would cease upon spotting the young woman before him. Perhaps not a woman yet considering her size and the softness of her features. He had almost missed her. Covered in the powdery snow she blended with the glittering ice beneath them. For a split moment the man had considered the image a fantasy. A perspective of imagination. Yet her hot breath rose into the dark sky and dissipated into the night sky. Her fragile rib cage, all to obvious under the winter pelt, under the snow, heaved with perfect cadence. He wondered if she had noticed him for he was obvious against the white. Always a black stain in the midst of winter. His voice would leave him in a misty cloud of white, his toes tingling with the bite of the ice he stood upon now that he was still. Hello. the words would flow forth with warmth.

If she noticed the man walking across the lake she didn't show it, bright blue eyes wide with child like wonder as she stared down at the body sized puddle she had made that was still glowing faintly as well as the slight glow that now came from her own body. It wasn't until a single word was uttered that she became aware of his presence and whirled, heart suddenly racing as her ears folded to her skull and tail immediately tucked. She was ready to panic and run, not catching the warmth to his tone as he breath quickened and pulse pounded in her ears. She began to back up, wide blue gaze sweeping back and forth for her brother, maybe he would save her. Meeting new wolves was always hard on her, unable to communicate she found that it stressed most people out when she didn't reply to their words or was unable to give her name. She could spell her name out but not every wolf understood the letters as well as others, others simply couldn't pronounce it like her mother and siblings ways had.
