Smoldering Remains

Blood eyes. They where obvious against the darkened surroundings. The sinister trees looked taller than any others he?d seen on his travels, maybe he was imagining things, - nightfall was beginning to do that alot lately. This forest had seen better days, the ash and scoot was still ever present, as if it had just passed only moments ago, and yet, the embers of a past flames sensed to expose them with that burning, gold color. The earth beneath him was grainy, the fresh air, had disappeared with the felling of lush grass beneath his paws, the silvery male wouldn?t be able to explain why he was here, or even why he was awake at this hour, the best as excuse he could pull was his curiousness, the need fore adventure, and explore this new place he stumbled upon. He?d always know that there was a much bigger world out there, now he was here, determined to seek out what he had been missing, the beast was surely a long way form his home, if you could call it that, it wasn?t much of a toasty, loving, environment, that youngsters seemed so luck to have these days. It gave him character though, he would at least give it that.
The particles drifting in the air where beginning to become annoying, as he navigated his way through the burnt woodland, apparently, his body didn?t know weather to sneeze or cough, both of them felt rather painful at the moment, his nose felt as though as it would burst into flames at any second, his lungs where starting to following his noses lead. Still, he pressed on in hopes of finding company, he?d grown quite accustomed to long, lonely nights of a rogue, the man was still unsure if he was truly fit for crowds, and communicating.Packs where always so up tight these days, such nature never really appealed to him, he knew that that world was a unmerciful, dark place, but, surely there was times of happiness and joy - right?
His ears flicked as he tried to hone in his senses for anything that was still around as usual - nothing. He often wondered if he?d stumbled onto some forbidden place, this area was oddly quite,it?d been a while sense he?d scented another of his kind, all he ever saw was large elk, and deer, grazing across the pastures, game that he only wished he could overwhelm on his own, although, he was rather reckless as a inexperienced pup, Crimzen was wise enough not to attempt to chase a meal he clearly had no chance in getting, wasted energy is fatal.A small sigh escaped his maw shaking his head of his troubling thoughts, settling himself near a scorned tree, red orbs surveying the bleak area pondering what he should do next.

The air was stained with the abrasive and musty smell of soot, fire?s relentlessly lingering perfume. The silhouetted, gnarled skeletons of blackened trees protruded from the ground here and there like crumpled fingers, beaten down by the pitiless fist of nature?s wrath. Some broken trunks lay across the ashen carpet that was the ground ? fallen ancients that had finally succumbed to Death?s grasp. Other than that and the occasional boulder, few obstructions had survived the assumed blaze that had ravaged the land. Everything was grey and dismal, colorless and lifeless. And with the supposed lack of life came the haunting atmosphere of bedtime tales. This was the sort of place where the demons would come out at night, a world of death, still failing at staggering back to health.
Night had fallen some time ago, but the imp had yet to discover any particular haunts save for himself. The idea of ghosts and ghouls and vicious murders did not spook him much, and the eerie ambiance had little effect on him; his personal fears lay with other, simpler things. He made his way steadily through the darkness with that constant but quiet confidence, his lithe and scrawny form navigating easily past the charred corpses of mammoth trees. Little paws pressed silently into soft ash as he continued on, his ghastly pale eyes surveying the area idly. Maybe he could find a particularly large ash pile. The substance seemed like it would be fun to roll in.
Before he could delve further into the environment, life captured his attention. Ungulates, in such a desolate place. It wasn?t fitting. But it certainly provided the opportunity for fun. Still a good distance away and unnoticed, Caesar licked his lips, wrinkling his muzzle when he tasted the ash on the air. Gross. His lungs didn?t like it much either, but that was something he more or less ignored. He bunched his muscles, crouching and wiggling a tad before shooting off towards the herd. ?Go away!? he shrieked with impressive volume. Teeth bared and hackles lifted, he bolted towards them, though there was no intention of actually attacking (he had to be easily less than half their size, and he knew his limits). The herbivores of course, could not read his mind, and could not know whether or not more wolves were coming. Lifting their heads and stretching their limbs, in a moment the air was filled with the thundering of their fleeing hooves. It was a satisfying sound. Caesar skidded to a halt, grinning to himself before turning his head to glance around. Much to his surprise, there was another wolf around. "Hi!" he barked. What a pleasant surprise.

The suffocating silence was overwhelming. He was growing ancy with the hostile forest - what was left of it anyhow - he failed to keep his nervousness hidden, his constant shifting in the ash emerged floor underneath him, crimson orbs focusing this way and that, somewhat paranoid that someone, or something was lurking, watching him with an eerie interest. The man?s muscles, felt thoroughly exhausted, he could feel them ache beneath his nearly ivory pelt, his body craved a long, well deserved rest for the time being. However, he was reluctant to do so, as this place surely wasn?t of the most fitting to be so relaxed, so careless, besides, he may have gotten himself lost again, if he removed himself form this spot, he expected that he would be stepping more into the best?s belly. Truly a stranger in a strange world. A mild huff slipped through his parted jaws, leaning every so slightly to rest his head against the remains of the seared tree, the surface was smoother than he would have guessed, the scent of scorned wood even more potent here, though it was much better than breathing in the sea of ashes. Perhaps, he should stay just as this? Awaiting for the moon to finally descend with it?s gloomy rein finally over, then, allow himself to rest underneath the protective, and warm glow of the sun? It seemed like a worthy idea to him.
Rain would fell so much better right now. Even with the present of the full pale moon, a cooling down pour of fresh liquid sounded so much more appealing than this, he was beginning to realize that his mouth was growing dry, the grains of sot must of managed to slip their way inside somehow, Crimzen was beginning to taste the disgusting scent of burnt grass, and other sources of what lurked inside the crowded arena of the tall, darkened, trees. Whatever the place was called surely deserved it, the place gave him the chills, not as much as other places he?d come across riddled with bones, and horrifying smells. To his relief, the specks in the drifting in the air, he could only smell the ever lingering burning scent, he?d feel very much sick to his stomach if he managed to pick up any decaying aromas.
The sudden sound of distant voice startled him, quickly raising his skull, tracing the ghostly forestry for the source, at first, he thought he was imagining things, maybe his dismissal of sleep was effecting his senses more quicker than he thought, the words carried some distance, his ears flicked with wondering what could be amiss, the familiar rhythm of sharp hooves slamming against the earth in a hurried pace buzzed around him. A hunt? This late? Strange, but, not uncommon perhaps if he was lucky the group would be a newly paired couple, who would be generous to leave him enough to suffice for some time. His insides grumbled at the thought, he lost count when he?d last devoured deer meat, the taste of hare, and rodents, had a dull flavor, he would enjoy spicing it up a bit.
His voice had erupted for the darkness again, it still held it?s high pitch, he was surprised that the welcoming word was directed towards him, so his earlier exchanged words where directed towards the herd? Or was he at a disagreement with someone he just couldn?t smell? Whichever the case, he was glad to finally be aware that he wasn?t the only wondering soul out on a stroll this late. His crimson gazed fixed on the wonder, his eyes stood out most than his charcoal coat, they where white, foggy, almost like frost, yet, very close to the tone of the moon's surface. Though, he didn't seem to be at a disarray than he was, the stranger was more relaxed than he, was he more familiar with this area? He'd find out soon enough, if he appeared to me more of an open book as he was leading on.
"Hey." He replies, with a warm smile stretching across his maw, it had been so long since he had spoken to another, he wondered how he should follow up on the greeting to avoid an awkward silence, right, conversations. "Um..are you lost too?" Crimzen inquires the more smaller male, in hopes of getting more of idea of this character.

sorry for shortness x:
The ebony fiend stood, his tail lifted a tad and his body rigid with seeming alertness. He watched intently, and was gifted a quite positive reaction ? an unusual thing, for he?d discovered over time that few wolves had patience for his behavior, even just seconds of it. He grinned broadly, an odd gesture that eagerly flashed each tooth that he had. Company. He liked company. The stranger questioned about being lost, and Caesar?s grin remained, his tail swishing slightly. ?Caesar?s where he wants to be,? he chirped with lively tones. But the stranger must not have been.
A few springing steps took him in a slight arc to the right, edging a tad closer to the other. Moonlight glinted off of the stranger?s eyes ? red. The imp inhaled faintly, his stare locked to the other?s with cold interest. His grin sank to a more reserved, twisted simper, and he commented aloud, ?His eyes are red. Like blood. Is there blood in them?? Vahva had red eyes too, and her blue mane. This wolf just had red eyes, but that was nice on its own. This guy had purely monochromatic fur, from what the gremlin could tell. Silvers and grays and blacks, just like the ash. ?Did he come from the forest?? he added his suddenly sprouted second inquiry, curious. Maybe this creature spawned from the ash, like some sort of phoenix.

It's fine. C: I love the detail you put into them.
The moon-eyed male?s next words came as a surprise to him. He wanted to be here? This place was one of mothers nature?s more damning evidence that she wasn?t also so kind, and merciful, that evil still rested, and feed in the most unlikely of souls. But here of all places? The midst land he had yet to explore, seemed so open, awaiting travelers form all walks of life to tread it?s untouched soil, still, he wanted to be here of all areas he could only assume was out there? Cranium twisted gently to show his confusion, eyes shining curiously,as to why he favored the scarred forest more, maybe, he was an outsider like him? The coal pelted male didn?t seem like he fit that character, Caesar seemed stable - for now at least. The silvery brute was also picked up on the way he spoke, in third-person? Perhaps, that was how everyone?s spoke here? As the thinner male shifted on in limbs, his red stare followed him closely, unwavering form form his seat in the ashes. He wondered if he?d been here this whole time, used to the degree floating endlessly in the air, he moved so easily here, as if there was nothing to fear, maybe there wasn?t. As Caesar approached him, he watched that wide grin of his dissolve into a more easier one, ears flicking as he wondered what had caught his attention to look so deeply at his pools of blood. He kept silent however, awaiting for him to announce the issue himself.
"Blood?" Crimzen repeats, dumbfounded. He knew that he was referring to eyes, they where partially the only thing that stood out, even in his more younger days, he always had a hard time making friends, for a second, he prepared himself for the harshest of words, that where defiantly about to rein down. Instead, he reverted to answering his question, although, he couldn't deny the disturbing feeling of his question, ?Um..No..I don?t..? Lyrics where hushed and mumbled, trying his best to bypass the conversation, eyes focusing on him again, thankful that he had changed the subject even if it was a little miss-worded, ?The mountains.? He corrects him, with a small grin ?It?s a long ways form here I like this place a little better though.? The silvery brute adds, shifting his eyes to the dark sky, before looking back at Ceaser, ?What about you?? The wanderer inquires curious if he lived here or traveled as he pleased, ?Oh, and I?m Crimzen.? Nearly forgetting to introduce himself.
