Overwhelming colors and scents bombarded Karabela's senses as she travelled farther into the Fern Gulley. Numerous flowers were in full bloom and the moist summer air seemed to hang thick with the scented perfumes of various blooms. It was almost dizzying. Her dark pelt brushed against foilage as she stepped delicately over the gnarled roots of a nearby tree that struggled to grow along the sides of the gulley which were covered thickly ferns and other vegetation.

Ahead of her stretched a misty haze and Raba's golden eyes tipped upward for a moment, eyeing the cloudy sky. It was hot and humid but so far there were no signs of severe weather but there was a fair chance it could rain on her. Hmmm… she wasn't terribly sure she wanted to be a the bottom of this gulley if it was going to start to rain but she'd already wandered a good way in. White-tipped tail flicked in agitation as she eyed the sides of the gulley. Surely it' wasn't that steep.

Latching her jaws around the roots of the tree she slowly began to work her way up before her front paws hit a particularly slimey patch of mud and she slipped back down to the bottom, managing to land with at least some of her grace and dignity in tact. Well dam. Shaking out her coat she eyed the tree. There was no doubt in her mind the tree did that on purpose.

The fresh, damp scents of a multitude of herbs and flowers drew the curious explorer to the Fern Gulley. Her sturdy paws brought her to the uppermost range of the overgrown gorge, a vantage point from which she could take in the phenomenal view. Below was a stunning array of colorful life, swathed in a light mist that held mysteries Esarosa was keen to uncover. Tail waving behind her, the midnight-coated woman plunged down the slope which would lead her to the deepest parts of the gulley. The growth here was thick, but it grew tall and she didn't find her paws tangling in it, which was a relief. She was a fairly clumsy wolf at times, and she preferred to be able to see the sights without having to watch where her paws were ending up.

As she trotted along, she was found there was little relief from the summer heat - she'd been hoping it would be cooler beneath the shade of the growth, but the day was a humid one, and the thick vegetation almost seemed to retain the heat. She paused suddenly in her tracks when she noticed the scent of another wolf, and curious as always, she decided she would find out who it was. It wasn't long before her ears would perk to the sound of claws scrabbling and tree bark creaking. Esa raced forward until she had nearly reached the wall of the narrow gulley - there she found a young lady trying to climb the rather steep embankment. She couldn't help but to let out a snort of laughter. Where was she trying to get to?

When the wolf finally made her landing after her claws slid through the mud, Esa made her approach. "It's no use, that mud's way too slick," she said in a matter-of-fact tone, "Besides, why are you trying to go up there anyways?" Her head was tilted as she looked at the other she-wolf. It had been a while since she'd met anyone younger than herself, so she was curious to see how this encounter would go.

Well, she supposed she'd better take the long way out and just hope she got out before the weather got to crazy, if it was going to really storm at all. Yet, part of her, stubborn to the bone, wanted to see if she could go vertically up the side. Golden eyes narrowed as she planned her next move. Somewhere in her head she knew it was a waste of time but once an idea got lodged in her brain it was very difficult for her to shake it loose. One more try. Just as she was about to give it another go she became aware of the presence of another wolf.

Karabela turned to see a dark-colored femme about a year older than her. She smirked at the woman's question. "Just to try it. I wanted to see if it was possible. Well… that and the fact that I don't like the look of those clouds. Not sure I want to be stuck in the gulley when it starts to rain. Could be a recipe for mudslides. I'm Karabela Thyre, you can call me Raba. Who are you and what are you doing down in these parts?"
