Finding safe places to relax was difficult these days. He was always watching his blind spot so that he didn't find a pair of large fangs digging into his shoulder. It was all too normal, as long as he accepted and moved forward with his fate it would be fine. He couldn't exactly be around Avalon twenty four seven, and her children weren't his. It was as simple as that, spending some time alone was the only way even if he had been born a pack animal.

The male took in a deep breath as he stood in the middle of the terrain. Fresh air, as much as he could get at least. Life was a eternal struggle, but that's how he knew he was alive. A small smile sparked on his face before he sat down and minded himself of his tail. Since it was still in the splint his healer placed. It felt bulky and weird, but as long as it healed he supposed that there was no problem.

He'd found himself spending a lot of time in the Nook, he'd brought Luck here to rest for the time, finding its bright flowers a nice compliment to her blue gaze. It felt odd, spending most of his days lingering in her presence, focusing on her survival. He had responsibility, and that fact helped keep his mind from darker thoughts. Quietly he made his way through the forest, one he felt really close to calling his own. It was filled with the sounds of buzzing birds and insects, clamoring for the nectar of the tree's flowers. More than a few prey species took refuge here, and he'd found a taste for all of them. Getting his hopes up as he set about his hunt the brute would find himself completely thrown off guard by the scent of a wolf he thought long gone. He was ashamed at how much time had passed since the man had lingered in his thoughts. Not that he really should have been, Vereux was never really there for any of his children, now Bacchus had a good understanding of how Amalia had felt when his sire had shown up out of nowhere. Maybe they had been better off never knowing he was still around. Just like he had said to his brother..
Lost in thought he'd eventually find his way towards the scent, curious about what kind of state he might find the older wolf in. "Old Man." He'd call out loudly into the wood, he'd summon his father to him.

He really expected everything to go wrong in his life - but now he had accepted it. His head would turn in surprise towards his son - no it was just Bacchus. Vereux would come to realize with anything it wasn't about blood and for a majority of his spawns life he was missing. Even then when he had hoped to be in their lives he couldn't do that to amalia and Athena. No matter how much he truly had loved the two of them. Now he had a bounty on his head and was simply trying to buy time to be there for his friend Avalon. However he was called old man and Vereux couldn't help but to chuckle as he turned towards Bacchus fully.

“It's been a while Bacchus.” Vereux said as he tried to keep his splinted tail still. It would be another month until he could fully move it again as his healer had said. His green eye also took note of the new scar on the man's head. They were two now - and Bacchus didn't smell of a pack. He must have moved on for another path in his life. He wondered silently what had happened to him even if he had no right to.

I love you, Riv. I'm sorry Bacc is dissing Vere so much

Before he knew it his sire was standing before him, looking just as unimpressive as he did the last time he'd seen him. No, he was worse. He looked like he hadn't slept in weeks, was he skinnier? That was very possible. His fur looked unkempt, and his eyes.. that was the worst part, they were haunted.. no. Hunted. Vereux had crossed over from predator to prey, and even Bacchus could see it. “It's been a while Bacchus.” The understatement of the year. Even if only a year or so had passed since they'd last been in the other's presence, it might as well have been a life time. Both wolves had been through too much to not be almost completely different on the other side. "Yeah, maybe not long enough." He'd comment quietly, his eyes still studying the older wolf, so much had happened. "You look rough," he wasn't sure what else to say. He thought about attacking, just getting all of his pent up anger out on the man that fathered him. It probably wouldn't have been worth it in the end. He hadn't much thought about what would be said, he'd only had a desire to see where his father was now. And obviously that was in some kind of hole.

It was true, Vereux had never had a alpha heir about him. Despite being a king, decendant of a tyrant. The true and rightful ruler to the throne of the Glaciem his father once owned. He was none of those things - however at least now he had something to fight for. His ears twitched a bit, not long enough. Perhaps so, but if any longer maybe Vereux would be dead. He knew of his demise, it would be at the jaws of those wolves. Yet he had enough in his right mind to struggle - to survive. Despite all that life had thrown at him, it was the armada blood that ran through his veins. It told him to fight, and to gain at least slight supremacy over his weak mind.

“I'll live for now, I'm simply a master at gaining more and more bad luck.” he responded. “You look strong - but lost a little. I see you've got a new scar.” Vereux looked at the man's face. His own scars centered towards his neck, his eye and his leg. All of them were from failure though, his time as a slave and more. No one would understand his pain he didn't think, but he wasn't about to assume that Bacchus had lived a soft life. Not with the albino kings blood running through their veins.

He wasn't sure what he was expecting whne the words fell from his lips, but his bright red gaze would continue to linger on his sire's form. He wouldn't begin to guess what his father had been through, or what he was running from now. Bacchus had enough of his own problems to start worrying about what happened to a wolf he hardly saw anymore. Would this be the last time he saw the dark wolf? Mismatched ears would perk at his words, curious about the cryptic way he talked about his luck. The young Armada had never been one to believe in luck. You made your own luck, and it seemed Vereux hadn't any talent for the good kind. "Lost, huh?" Bacchus knew very well how strong he was now, but he had felt more than broken during his enslavement. "Didn't heal up like I'd wanted it to." He didn't know why he was continuing with the chit chat. Where was their conversation going anyway? For a long moment he'd just watch the older man, unsure why he'd even wanted his attention to begin with.

Vereux would tilt his scarred head to one side - how could he have missed it really. A small smirk strewn across his face, he couldn't help but to chuckle. Luck seemed to favor the strong, that was the simple matter. Bacchus reminded him dearly of Isardis. “You take after your grandfather, though you aren't quiet as white as he was.” He raised a brow. His spawn could easily strike him down at this moment, he could see if from how he spoke and moved. Vereux settled himself down a bit, he was done fighting his family. So be it if he was truck down here.

“Your grandfather Isardis was the greatest king alive, all the packs feared him. Me and Athena were part of his first litter. We had a brother - and we had a right to the throne but our mother was a whore. She ended up having pups with another man.” Yet his father still kept her around. To this day - perhaps that was his way of showing he could have some sort of passion. He would think Vereux useless wouldn't he. Perhaps if he had been born as a daughter instead, then things would have been better.
