Félicien would breathe in, taking a glance around as the snow fell upon the plains. He felt a cold sting, a bit of worry in his heart. Thalos and his siblings remained close yet... He worried for them. Perhaps he had simply not interacted with them as much as he would have liked. The young man would glance towards the den, where the little ones could possibly still be sleeping or playing inside to avoid the chill of winter. He’d come by to check on them later, that he promised.

Féli would leave the area, heading towards the borders. He knew that he wasn’t the most active member in Abaven, but perhaps he could do some good by patrolling the borders for a time. He would perk his ears forward, gaze sweeping the lands. Some part of him hoped to see Sorrel at the borders, but alas it seemed there was little luck to that.

Suddenly Félicien would feel a light weight upon his shoulders. He’d stop, turning his head to see his companion, Sophitia, resting upon him. “All alone, ‘licien?” There seemed to be a teasing tone in her voice. The golden wolf would smile, shaking his head. “No, not with you here.”

The borders were where he would head on this winter's day, knowing that he hadn't be so active when it came down to patrolling. It was the best way to be and feel productive, as well as warm up his stiff limbs. Sometimes he hoped to see his brother across the territory, or at the very least his other brother even though they hadn't been so close as children. Of course, he too was unsuccessful in his search, though he tried not to let those thoughts distress him. After all, they weren't true kin if they abandoned him. His true family was already here in Abaven.

A sandy-hued male of shorter height came into his view as he marched along the territory's edge. Another unfamiliar face, one he approached in a quick trot. How many new pack-mates had he met in this past season? Three? Four? Boy, he was better at establishing friendly relationships then he thought. "Greetings," he spoke with a dip of his head. "I'm Tinaro. Would you care to join me on a patrol?" And of course at the last minute he had to notice the owl perched upon the man. Was that...normal?

Félicien would turn his head to the sound of approaching paws, the crunching of snow a dead giveaway to the stranger. He would be offered greetings, and given a name, which the young man would return in kind. “Hello there. I’m Félicien, and this is Sophitia, my friend.” The golden male would tilt his head to the side slightly, a smile finding it’s way upon his features. Funny how life worked out sometimes.

“I was actually thinking the same sort of thing. Glad to know great minds think alike!” Despite his loses, his voice was cheerful. One couldn’t wallow about in misery forever. “Do you have a particular routine when you patrol? I’m fairly new to Abaven, and haven’t patrolled with anyone else just yet...” Félicien would explain, ears perked forward.

Sophitia for the moment was quiet, resting upon her friend as she looked at Tinaro. She’d observe him with large, bi-colored eyes, curious about the new wolf who had come along to interact with them.

The man introduced himself as Félicien, and the owl as Sophita. Oh, so they were friends? He couldn't help but to raise a brow in fascination. A wolf and a bird friends? How intriguing. "Does...does she speak?" he slowly inquired, staring curiously at the feathered creature. Multicoloured eyes stared back at him with equal curiosity. What had brought them together to form such a relationship?

His face wasn't one that the chestnut male recalled seeing at pack meetings, and he was going to ask if the two were knew to Abaven though his question was momentarily answered. "Now that I think about it," he mused. "I actually don't have a routine." Whoops, was he supposed to have one? It was just a patrol - what more was there to it? "Just walk around the territories I guess. Serpent Plains is in the heart of Abaven, so there only two sides to watch out for." Though if the older man decided to patrol the pack's entire perimeter he wouldn't argue.

Félicien would give a soft chuckle as Tinaro spoke again, asking if Sophitia could speak. Rather than talk for his friend again he figured now was as good a time as any to allow her to speak up. “Indeed I can young man. Hoo!” Sophitia would dip her head to the wolf, almost as if she was bowing to him. “A pleasure to meet your acquaintance young man!”The owl would hoot.

Féli would listen a Tinaro said that he didn’t have a routine. Though it seemed that patrols were simple, Félicien took a little more to heart than just that. The golden-cream and brown male would give a small nod. “While that is normally true, during raids or invasions a pack wouldn’t pay attention to just our borders. They could cross into the territory itself, so it’s always wise to patrol the entire pack lands just to be on the safe side.” Félicen would dip his head apologetically.

“Sorry if I’m seeming a bit... Bossy. The attack on Threar still haunts my memory.” As well as the loss, despite their most valiant efforts to keep the invaders out.

His green gaze widened as the owl answered his question with a hoot, appearing well-mannered and courteous with her language. He almost couldn't find the words to speak. Where did he find such a creature? They didn't seem common, or else everyone would have one in Abaven. Was it just luck? Well, it wasn't like he wanted a companion of his own. They'd follow him everywhere, get on his nerves...nope, not for him. "A pleasure to meet you as well," he finally managed to say with a dip of his crown.

Returning his attention to the older male, he listened as he spoke. He sort of agreed with him, though stated the importance of patrolling the entire territory, not just the borders. That was actually pretty smart. He might as well start doing that. "No, it's alright. I think that's a good idea," he assured with a smile when the other man apologised for being bossy. He went on to add something about Threar, which sparked his attention. That was another Destruction pack, right? The one that had been taken over though avenged by Abaven and Imperium? "I'm sorry...about what happened to Threar."

Félicien was relieved that Tinaro was not put off about Sophitia’s presence. He knew that Sorrel, his twin, had once had a companion whom he didn’t particularly care for. Ellingham’s presence had always seemed like a bit of a burden to Sorrel. But Féli on the other hand was grateful for the female owl’s presence. She was a source of company and a valuable asset to his patrols. Félicien would give a small nod to Tinaro’s words. “The sympathies are appreciated.” He’d say, glancing towards Sophitia again.

“I just wish Novella had been in a better state for the sake of her youngest litter.” The male would shake his head. “Anyway, we should probably get started, right?” Félicien would turn, taking a few steps in the direction of the border before looking back towards Tinaro. “Have you lived in Abaven your whole life?” Might as well keep up the small chat, he thought.

Sophitia would take to the air as Félicien moved away from the brown brute, giving a soft hoo. “I’ll let you boys know if I see anything from the skies!”

He wondered what it was like to lose a home - definitely a tragic experience. At least the older male had found a new pack, though Tinaro supposed that had to be difficult as well - adjusting himself to a new lifestyle. Abaven had been around for a long time - even before his own birth - and he was grateful to have a home for so long. He couldn't imagine losing it.

The older male spoke of a woman - Threar's leader if he recalled correctly? - and her youngest litter. Losing family was something he could relate to, and not just a mother or sibling, but everyone. Most of them left when he was a pup, so he could connect with that youngest litter. Losing a home and family - poor kids.

"Right," he answered with a nod, hurrying his steps to catch up with the other male as they begun to walk along the border. He would answer his inquiry after his owl companion took to the sky - a sight that left Tinaro in awe. "Yup, I've been here my whole life."
