Tragic Magic

It was a few days after the meeting, and the boy had spoken to his mom's friend who had been getting real close to her. After hearing him out, he didn't seem like a bad guy. They couldn't keep their mom away from everyone forever, and she deserved to be happy too right? Still, he wasn't used to it, and he would be keeping a suspicious eye on the old fart until he was satisfied that they were truly in love or whatever that icky mushy stuff was. After talking to the male, the yearling set out to find his brother, searching along the pines as he childishly kicked snow around.

Lykos didn't trust this new guy. Loyalty - what loyalty? His loyalty hadn't been proven. Thankfully, his mother realized that and didn't concede to the man's outrageous demand. Secondary alpha. Lykos scoffed to himself. Why would anyone deserve that position? Especially one whom no one knew... except his mother, apparently. Who was this man? Why did he come here? Why was he wanting to get close to his mother? Why did he want secondary alpha status? Why did he think, of all wolves, that he would be able to waltz in and demand status that he had not yet deserved? The entire situation just stank of danger, and it made Lykos ever more the wary about this man. He did not know Vereux's history, nor the man's personality and desires. That would not remain so for long; he would discover this creature's past whether Vereux wanted him to or not.
Caught in his musings, he almost ran into a pine tree. Lykos skidded to a stop and shook his head over his lack of situation awareness. How could he be so careless? Ugh. Sighing heavily, he looked around him - just in time to see a spray of snow coming straight at him. His world turning white for a brief second, Lykos spluttered in surprise, shaking his head. Blinking rapidly, he glanced up at the direction the snow came from - to be met with a grinning Dragon. Snorting, the heir shook his head, though he started to grin. Alright, he could do this, instead of worrying about all he had to worry about. A little fun, that he never really had. "Really? Wanna play that way, huh?" The grin was Dragon's only hint to the revenge to come. Lykos jumped up and skidded in the snow, tossing a whole slew of snow at his brother. While the snow was flying towards him, he aimed to dart towards Dragon and tackle him playfully, though with no reservations. Yep, he was going to take Dragon down.
