It had been so long since he'd been out on his own. He'd been stuck in that grounded barge for ages. He could hardly tolerate the cold - he wasn't built for it. But Sabine insisted on keeping him there. But she'd been going out a lot lately, and he'd decided to take his chances and stretch his legs. And get some fresh air, away from that gross little ship. And as he'd meandered along, he found himself going further and further, until he was well out of sight of the dingy little ship. Maybe Sabine would never notice he was gone... maybe he didn't have to go back. A smug grin crossed his maw, his long, black-tipped tail curved over his back. It had been a while since he'd felt like himself, free of her domineering presence.

He knew he had to go back though. If he didn't, she would find him. She didn't need her eyesight to find him, her other heightened senses would do the job for her. And if she found him, she would destroy him; probably not enough to kill him, after all, if he was dead, he wouldn't be able to feel her claws and fangs ripping him apart anymore. As much as he despised being under her control, he wasn't willing to risk her wrath like that. He would go back, eventually. Besides, it was a way of life he'd grown used to by now... and it wasn't all bad.

But for today, he'd enjoy a little time to himself. Finding the strange ice bridge, and feeling the warmth of the early summer air, an amused grin spread across his mug. Maybe if he crossed it, he'd end up on the other side and the ice would melt, and he'd be alone until the ice froze again. A harsh chuckle escaped him as his dark paws carried him over the bridge, coming to the strange island-like land mass that looked like the landing site of a giant meteor. A strange misty steam seemed to be coming up from the middle, beyond the yearling saplings. Not normally a curious creature, he'd make an exception today, having seen nothing new in seasons. He wandered and descended until he came to the strange, steaming pool at the middle of the island. At the edge of the water he stood, his singular sky blue eye scanning about his surroundings calmly, feeling somewhat relaxed for the first time in ages.

VERANA CUERVO
a raven in a flock of crows
she will destroy as she pleases

Massive russet paw after massive russet paw. Gaze glistening over these new lands, how she had found herself here, she didn't even know. This place was colder than most, but that was the least of her worries. In fact, it wasn't chilling to the bone like it's appearance seemed. It was summertime, so the sun was warming up even these northern lands. The woman walked across an icy bridge, looking down at the vicious sea bellow her. Imagine how brutal it would be if she somehow fell and dropped into the salty waters. A smirk appeared on her obsidian lips, eyes narrowed and she continued her journey into this new place.

A small ocean breeze ran through her coat, running along the large cicatrix on her right side. Tail curled over her spine in domineer and malice. Through her travels, many had crossed her path, and many did not enjoy her presence. Did she care? Not really, why should she? There was nothing to care for, she had killed her whole family. She was careless, she had no heart, she would never ever have a heart. It would be a miracle if she came to like somebody as a friend or companion, because she didn't even want one. The only thing she desired is to conquer and destroy, that was her main goal for these lands.

She continued on her walk, looking over the strange and new land. What was that? A new smell? Another wolf? Good. A wicked grin was painted on her maw, thick ivories glinting in the summer sun. Massive legs pulled her forth to find this new being who had caught her attention. Looking down at the crater before her, an individual standing by the water. Now, she wasn't a stealthy creature because she did not really need to be. She was not quiet and she didn't plan on surprising the being. She analyzed him with a quick look, and noted that the being was a male. "Hola señor." The Spanish accent slipping off her tongue with ease, she did not know what language she spoke. Many wolves in her past pack had spoken Spanish, but Florinia taught her to be fluent in English too. Her gaze flickered over to the steaming pool before them, "It's as if want to take a dip or something." she joked, the same wicked grin on her maw as she studied him. Hm, he seems quite calm right now. What a shame if he suddenly wasn't.

His momentary peace and silence, surrounded only by himself and the strange landscape, would be interrupted by the approach of a foreigner. At the sound of her unfamiliar greeting, Ehrgeiz would whip around to face her. His hackles had already risen, his tail puffing out as it whipped back and forth. Of course, he'd been expecting to get caught by Sabine at any moment, causing an infuriating terror to rip through him, and rightfully so. His master was a vicious, merciless creature - at least with him. But alas, as he eyed the woman, his head held just beneath the level of his shoulders in a suspicious posture, it was clear that this was someone completely unknown to him. Still, his ears folded back, his lips twitching as he resisted the urge to snarl at her. He had no reason to trust her, and as she spoke, he did not miss the wicked grin that had planted itself upon her face.

"Go in for a dip?" he questioned with a sneer, turning to face her frontally, "And then come out and freeze my tail off? As if!" Were all women this stupid? It may have been summer, but the north still held harsh climates, no matter where one wandered - you would find ice and snow at some point. He couldn't understand why she had come to waste his time, his precious alone time, with such an idiotic question. His singular eye searched over her frame, landing on her face and locking with her duo-toned eyes. "So, what other stupid thing are you going to suggest?" he snarked. Did the brute ever have anything nice to say? No, not really. He really didn't care if he offended her. And he had no intention of holding his tongue now that he didn't have to.

VERANA CUERVO

That was his mistake. She was not amused with him, and in fact she found him quite boring. "Quizás para matarte, o algo así. (Maybe to go kill yourself, or something.)" She said, knowing that if he didn't understand then he wouldn't have to be too offended. "Your poor tail falling off is all you care about?" she asked, "That's unfortunate.. Some wolves have precious families or mates, but all you have is your tail..." She considered taking it, just to piss him off further. Just to rip it right of his body, and she chuckled. What a low life to have, "I was unaware that the cold bothered you that much." For the cold was the least of her problems, and sometimes she welcomed it.

She sat her rump down, "Seems like you've got a lot to worry about. The cold, your tail.. Quite interesting. What else do you have to cry about?" she asked, a hint of a growl in her voice as she inquired about his pathetic life. Her eyes narrowed and hackles rose, test me. "I'm Verana, by the way. You are?" she asked, wanting to know the name of the male who cared more about himself than anything else. Selfish and stupid bastard who she had bothered to confront, maybe she would have to teach him a lesson, play with him for awhile, and then simply leave. Both of them seemed quite arrogant, and they probably wouldn't be getting along anytime soon. She didn't care though, and in fact she didn't want to get along with him. She would gladly destroy him, but she would let him talk first and give him some time to flee before she made a move. How dangerous the mind was, how dangerous Verana was, and he had no clue. That was his fault though, he had simply made the wrong move, and she would make him pay for it.

Ehrgeiz's muzzle wrinkled up as she spoke some foreign language at him, with a very unimpressed look upon her face. She seemed strangely... not infuriated. But perhaps it was just all bottling up inside. It almost irritated him, the way she stood there so smugly, talking to him so sarcastically. Like she already believed she was superior to him. Taking a few steps to his right, he began to prowl around her, eyeing her carefully. He'd try to circle around her, wondering about her scars, where she'd obtained them from. He tried to ignore most of her words as she spoke scathingly at him, yet he couldn't help but to catch most of what she said anyways. He rolled his eye as she mentioned that most wolves had mates or families, but all he could worry about was his tail. He grunted, shaking his head. If she only knew!

He sighed as she seated herself, looking as though she was going to get comfortable. Was she actually just going to hang around here and lecture him? He came to a stop in front of her, though he was too edgy to sit down like she had. He saw no reason to leave himself vulnerable. He snorted, digging his claws into the ground. He'd been here first, and there was no way he was leaving just because she'd made an appearance. "I guess the next thing I'd have to cry about is your existence," he mumbled, tail flicking irritably - her prickly attitude and low growl didn't disturb him. Seeking out her two-toned gaze again, he tried to decipher her thoughts, but so far it seemed futile.

Annoyingly, she bothered to introduce herself, and ask who he was in return. "Ehrgeiz," he replied gruffly, wondering why he bothered to humor her, but he supposed he had nothing better to do, "I'd say it's a pleasure, but I'd be lying." His tone was dry, ears flicking as he raised a brow at her. He eyed her, sizing her up, and wondering what was going on in her head. Clearly she wasn't amused with him and his reactions, but her demeanor was cold, revealing nothing. He wondered if she was going to simply ignore his petty attitude, or if she had a surprise in store for him. Having no sense of pride left to himself, he didn't care to start a fight, but he'd certainly take pleasure in fighting with her. It had been a long, long time since he'd been in a fight, and he wouldn't mind digging his fangs into someone else's flesh.

VERANA CUERVO

She watched him with a narrowed gaze, his body rounding her once and then stopping in front of her. "Like what you see?" she asked and smirked, a sarcastic remark slipping from her tongue. "My existence, eh? Let the tears start rolling then." she sneered, "Silly boy, I do not want to provide you pleasure. Not unless you ask nicely. I see what you're doing, trying to figure out my intentions?" she asked, she got up just as quickly as she had sat down. "You do not need to know my business, stop trying to decipher because it will only get you into trouble you don't really need. Don't think you would want that, but if you do then you can find me some place other than this." with that she let out a menacing snarl and her left paw powerfully swiped a good amount of snow his way. He could dodge the chilling slush, or he could stand there and let himself get cold. She didn't care if the snow would hit him or not, she turned away and trotted off to the icy bridge she had crossed.

Powerful limbs pushed her massive body forwards, and soon enough she went off into a canter away from the fool she had just encountered. If he chose to follow, he would be in for a big surprise. A smirk on her lips as she thought about it further, but she didn't find him all too interesting. A waste of her time, he didn't deserve her attention. She had better things to do anyways. A disgusted look crossed his face when she asked if he liked what he saw. He liked her scars, they were fascinating, a mark of violence that he enjoyed; however, he wasn't interested in her. She was just a big, bulky woman, with a superior attitude that he hated. She had done nothing to prove that she was worthy of anything. Irritation showed upon his face, his black muzzle wrinkling up the hair along the back of his neck prickled. "You sure talk big for a stupid nobody," he retorted to all of her words - she sure did talk a lot. Sure, he was a nobody, but at least he didn't walk around with a big attitude like she did. He knew he was an inferior little worm - his master reminded him of it constantly - and he didn't bother going around pestering others in order to make them believe he was something else.

And then, she just swiped a big wave of slush over his face, and turned around to leave. "So you just came here to disturb the peace and waste my time?" he snarled after her as she wandered away from him, "Now you're just leaving?! That's great!" His tail lashed as he watched her go. Well, she had left him with a challenge. Oh, he was definitely going to get in trouble with her at some point. But not today. Today was his first day out on his own in ages, and he wasn't going to waste it chasing her down. He'd remember her face, her name, and her scent, and one day he would find her. For now, he turned back toward the steaming water, setting his gaze back out across the strange expanse of land.
