Desdemona was in a state of shock, she should have seen this coming, she knew she should have, after that first night amongst the trees and the forest that enshrouded Tortuga the two had scarcely spent a eve not joined together. Even out of her heat, his body was something she craved with the same desperation that she needed air. Queen or no Queen, she needed Demonio. His body, his love, his light. He was her everything, the missing piece of her soul, she should have known that the moment he joined them together in the most intimate of ways that she would be ruined to everyone save him. No matter how beautiful or stunning there was no one and nothing that could compare to her husband, her lover, her mate. Even out of her heat he had taken her, simply in a desperate attempt to be closer to him she had begged and pleaded and he had never once failed her. The pleasure he brought her, absolute rapture... in hind sight she should have seen this coming and perhaps she had, but the levity of such a statement rocked the ivory woman to her core.

The healer had scampered away long ago, leaving the Queen to her thoughts but her words still rung like chimes in her brain, rattling forever more in the confines of her mind. She had been feeling queasy, not sick, not ill, just a bit unbalanced, not wanting to concern Demonio unless she absolutely needed too, she had gone to a medic and after a very brief examination and a few questions the wolf has spoken rather calmly that she wasn't ill, but she was pregnant. So many emotions filled her joy, elation, excitement, love, fear... the emotions choked her and rendered her speechless and for a long moment she stood in quiet contemplation and taking a few moments to get over her shock, her legs were moving, a genuine smile, larger and more broad than anything she had ever given painted itself upon the Queen's maw and with a patience barely restrained she rocketed towards her den. What better place to tell him than the site where they would raise their children?

She skidded to a halt near the river that trickled just outside their den and with excitement and eagerness coloring her tones, her maw would careen to the heavens, a call for her lover, her mate, steady and strong her voice would carry, with just a hint of urgency. She needed him to attend her and he bade him do it swiftly, she wasn't sure she could contain this excitement much longer.

It had been perfect. No, beyond perfection. It was so much more than he could have ever imagined or possibly dreamt of. She had given herself to him and he to her, joining themselves, becoming a single entity for a moment in time. Their marriage was that more beautiful now. She was so much more beautiful. Her body, her soul, her heart?he loved every single, little itsy bitsy piece of her. He now knew her better than he knew himself. He had loved her like he had never loved a woman before and how he would never love a woman again. After their lovemaking, his body still craved more. He craved her touch, her voice calling to him, telling him to love her, and take her and make her his. But they did have to rest as some point, right?

And so after the wee hours of the morning the couple had settled down to sleep, to regain their strength. It had been a few days, nearly a week since their union and he had begun to realize that his wife was beginning to feel rather uneasy. She?d said she wasn?t ill and he couldn?t notice any outward signs that she was, so he trusted her word. That morning the pair had awoken simultaneously, Desdemona saying how she needed to go meet with someone. Demonio was a bit suspicious about her meeting, but he didn?t question. She was a queen now and would always have business to attend to. And so he?d bade her goodbye, a gentle kiss to her nose, watching until her figure disappeared beyond the trees before heading out himself. His stomach rumbled as he moved through the trees, demanding he find some breakfast. Though his wife had told him she wasn?t ill, an uneasy feeling in his stomach told him that maybe she really was, but was just trying to play it off. Worry began to pick at his empty gut as he wandered, idly looking for something to catch for breakfast.

There was a faint smell of hare on the breeze and so the ivory knight tracked it, switching courses without much thought, his paws moving mechanically as he moved closer to the source of the smell. His body switched into hunting mode of its own accord, limbs pulling him lower to the ground, senses alert. It didn?t take him long to bring down the first hare, fast little buggers those things were before he was going after the second hare. This one was a bit harder to get than the first one, but he soon had it struggling between his powerful jaws. Just as he was about to deliver the killing bite, a howl rang out. Desdemona. She was calling out to him. Her voice was so full of joy, as if she had some amazing news to give him. He stopped mid-bite, audits perking with attention as he listened to her song. What was going on? Wasting no time, the alabaster knight severed the spine of the struggling hare, quickly picking up the other before he was galloping back to their den.

His paws pounded powerfully beneath him massive frame, crossing the distance in no time at all. His wife?s angel-like figure came into view as he bounded to her side, coming to a skidding halt, a cloud of dirt raising up behind him in his hurried halt. Ribcage expanded and contracted rapidly as he dropped their breakfast at her feet, muscles quivering with the exertion. Mi Corazon, what?s going on? Is there something wrong? His icy and maroon eyes anxiously searched her face, trying to figure out what it was that she needed to tell him.

Desdemona's countenance was usually stoic, difficult to read and rather expressionless, even at the best of times. Demonio was the only one who received a the softness in her voice, the gentleness in her tones, everyone else with met with stoic indifference, and usually, only when Demonio glided into her vision did light enter her face and that cold indifference seem to fall away, she cared about her people and she cared about Tortuga, but the woman loved Demonio. Today, however, a smile curled her moth, albeit small, but cracking her mask of stone. Joy danced in the dual colored gems and her tail battered back and forth. She was exuberant and a small inkling of that happiness shined through her visage, she didn't bother to hide it, wasn't sure she could even if she wished it.

Excitement and eagerness swept through her, shifting restlessly with a lack of patience she had not felt since her days as a pup. Demonio could not be so far away, her lover had bade her a good morning and she had departed for the healer scarcely an hour ago, unless the gent had the intention of leaving Tortuga, he had to be close still... right? A huff would force itself through her nose as she squirmed...squirmed like some new born pup! What would his reaction be? Would he be excited, exuberant? Would he be fearful? Did her lover want pups so soon into their marriage? Unreasonable fear crippled her and she dreaded this altercation nearly as much as she was eager. She needed him to be happy, to be excited, she could not bear his disappointment.

His familiar bodice would burst through the trees, his gallop slowing to a halt, breakfast was trapped between his jaws but her stomach was churning far too much to think of such things right now. She couldn't stop the smile on her maw from growing as he approached her, powerful legs drawing him to a halt, he dropped the hare and tended her side, speaking swiftly and softly and without a word, she would tuck her head behind his ear, pulling him into a hug, holding onto him tightly. "No... no beloved I am fine, still your worries." Her voice ever whimsical, ever soft, and brimming with love brushed lovingly against his fur. "I went to see a healer this morning to make sure nothing was wrong, I didn't wish for you to worry anymore for me than you already were." She drew her cranium back, so she could gaze into his eyes and softly, gently, she rested her skull against his own, her nose brushing his own.

"I have a clean bill of health Demonio, I am fine save for one thing..." She would pause here, eyes filling with love, excitement, adoration and absolute bliss. "Demonio, I'm pregnant."

There wasn?t much in life that scared the sizeable brute, if anything at all. The concept of death was not feared, but instead accepted. One could try to outrun death as much as they wanted, but sooner or later it would catch up with them. Demonio wasn?t one of those wolves. Though he did not fear dying, his hope was that he would be given a long happy life beside his wife. He still had many more years he wanted to spend at her side. He wasn?t scared of getting sick or of anything out in the world. He had claws and he had teeth and they were given to him for a purpose. But, there was one thing he did fear, one that he was sure no one knew about; loosing Desdemona. Even trying to contemplate the idea of not being able to have her at his side was nearly impossible for the man. He had no life if his wife wasn?t a part of it. There was no point without his reason for existing.

So it would make sense that he worried about her, about her safety and well-being. She was everything to him and he would never let any harm come to her. It would be over his dead body that anyone would think of harming a single hair on her magnificent body. So it was no surprise that his heart thundered inside his chest as he reached the site of their den, skidding to a halt beside his wife, their breakfast momentarily forgotten as his mind raced to figure out what was going on. She would reach out to him twining her neck around his as she embraced him, her soft words meant to soothe him, to put his worries at ease. They did, his heart-beat slowing down to something seemingly normal, but they were not quelled entirely. Demonio returned his wife?s embrace, slipping a soft kiss to his lips as she withdrew, explaining her visit earlier that morning. So she?d gone to see a healer. He knew there had been something; he was just giving her the benefit of the doubt by not insisting on seeing if there really wasn?t. She gave him her word, so there was no reason not to believe her.

Just as quickly as she had pulled away she was closing the space between them, her soft nose pressing against his own, her dual-colored gems gazing into his own as her voice breached his ears once more. I have a clean bill of health Demonio, I am fine save for one thing... And then she paused and he could feel his heart stutter in his chest before kick-starting again, almost pounding out of his chest. Demonio, I'm pregnant. Preg?pregnant? Desdemona?.Desdemona was pregnant? As in, he was going to become a father?! WHAT?! You?re?.You?re?.You?re pregnant. And I?m?I?m?.I?m?going to be a father? His voice trembled, eyes widening to an impossible size. A father. Desdemona was pregnant with his children and he was going to be a father. His children. Desdemona?s children. Their children. Their family. Shock, joy, happiness and a hundred other emotions washed through him all at once, a the biggest smile in his life breaking across his face. Oh Desdemona, my beautiful wife, you?re pregnant with my children! Good lord, I?m going to be a father! He barked, unable to contain himself. He was going to be a father!

She was excited, exuberant, she was scared and she was terrified. She remembered the brutality and the adversity she had faced as a child, she remembered her fear and her terror, she remembered the vile monster she had become and she remembered taking lives with the same indifference that most hunted for food. At one point she had damn near turned cannibalistic. Her youth was the absolute most horrifying time of her life. She was the very definition of the word beast, she had possessed the blood lust and the brute strength to be a demon bathed in deceptive ivory. She was afraid, so afraid that she would not make a good mother. Affection was difficult for her and what if she wasn't enough for her pups? What if they grew up with that same hatred, that same bitterness, she shivered violently, attempting to banish such thoughts. They shouldn't have a place here, Demonio would help her, Demonio would guide her, he would make sure she was a damn good mother.

He laid a kiss upon her maw, and as she had promised him, she told him exactly who she had gone to see, she refused to keep anymore secrets from him, she refused to hinder his trust anymore than she already had, but it seemed he wasn't terribly troubled by this information, she had gone to see the medic as more of a precautionary thing and she had been given the most wondrous news she had ever received in her life, aside from Demonio asking her to be his one and only. She let the deafening news fall from her larynx and she would wait, wondering if he would need the same momentary bout of utter silence. He would. His pupils blew impossibly wide and his jaw falling slightly slack, her heart stuttered in her chest, awaiting his reaction with eagerness and slight unease. He would not make her wait long, the stutters fell from his maw with disbelief and shock and her smile would expand, growing into a full blown grin as she watched a thousand emotions dance through his eyes. Short sentences that didn't string together perfectly, but would fall from his larynx brimming with love made her plume drift a bit faster, his excitement apparently contagious. She bobbed her head confirming his statement.

"Yes... yes beloved. You will be a father! Demonio we will have our family! The life that grows inside of me, they will be born from our love. To romp and play, to surround us with love as our family grows. Tiny versions of you that I will get to cherish until the end of my days. We will have a family Demonio, a true family!" Even as stoic and unreadable as she usually was, she could not keep the exuberance from her lyrics. She was so entirely happy. She was mated, to this wonderful, beautiful, perfect man and now she would bare him children, they would be a family! Her life could get no better than this.

The suspense of it all was getting to him. Desdemona was always one to delay the new by just a bit, something that threatened to drive the ivory knight mad, but it was nothing that he disliked about his wife. All her little quirks were what made her perfect and he loved every single one of them. His entire life, all the tragedy he had lived recently had all led to this. To his marrying Desdemona, to him joining a pack with her and finding his place again. She had given him the future he had thought impossible for himself. She was truly an angel; his angel.

She seemed to wait for his answer with baited breath, maybe not knowing what to expect from him. But his reaction looked to be one that she was glad to have gotten. Demonio would notice the huge smile that would plaster itself across her lips as his mind wrapped around the concept that he was going to become a father. A father. There were going to be mini Demonio?s and mini Desdemona?s running around them and through their legs, begging for their constant attention, not allowing them a single wink of sleep. Little babies, the product of their love, filling their lives with joy. It was so unbelieveable, so much more than he could have ever asked for. The woman of his dreams was going to become the mother of his children! How blessed would his children be with having a mother like Desdemona. Sure, her past didn?t exactly dictate the motherly type, but it didn?t define her anymore. She wasn?t the woman of her past. She was a different woman now. She was Demonio?s woman, his wife, the mother of his children and she was going to be the most amazing mother in the world. He only hoped he would be able to be as great a father as his own father had been.

Her crown would bob, confirming his statement. A family. They were going to start their own family. How?perfect. His tail wagged a million miles a minute, his dual-colored gems alive with a mixture of joy and disbelief and utter happiness. In a moment of desire, the alabaster brute threw his head up towards the sky, pale lips coming together as he sung to the world of the joyous news. They were going to be parents! He sung and he sung, unable to contain his joy until he finally managed to pull himself back and get some restraint, crown dropping as his gaze fixed itself on his wife, jowls split wide in a grin. We will have the most beautiful family the world has ever known Desdemona and you will be a glorious mother! Oh how luck our children will be to call you their mother! If he could?ve he would?ve picked her up and spun her around, but since he lacked the ability to do so he settled with fawning her lips with kisses, pressing his body against hers, unable to contain his joy. A family. A real family. His life couldn?t get any better.

Recently, she had driven a wedge between her and Demonio's relationship and while he had forgiven her for being a selfish, simple minded fool, she still felt the guilt press heavily upon her. She had almost sacrificed her lover for Tortuga's well being, she had almost given up the thing she held most dear for her beloved, she had almost lost everything for a crown that meant nothing if he was not here. That knowledge, that guilt would eat at her until her dying day she was absolutely certain of it. Demonio could forgive her, but Desdemona would never forgive herself, she had betrayed her lovers trust and thus she had betrayed her own heart. She had promised and she had told him everything and anything he wanted to know. From her thoughts about blue birds to the treaties and alliances she was intending on procuring. There was not a single thought that passed through her skull that she would not offer him if he wished to know.

Today, however, she wasn't a bearer of bad news, she wasn't here to tell him of some new development in Tortuga... well it was a new development but it certainly wasn't in Tortuga, it was in her. Two toned gaze had swept the length of his torso and she had smiled genuinely as she had presented him the news. She was still wrapping her own mind about becoming a mother, about raising children born from the product of her and Demonio's love. These were not just her babes that would grace the world, they were his. Half of her and half of him and that thought made her tremble in its power. For a moment she had been fearful, afraid that after such an almost deterioration of their relationship that he wouldn't want a family with her anymore, but his reaction successfully squashed any remaining doubt and with a blessed smile, her plume would drift back and forth behind her haunches, smiling brilliantly at her lover.

Her smile would grow, laughter would fall from ivory lips as he sang his joy to the heavens, a never-ending song of light and love and happiness and then, he forgot the world and returned to her, speaking such sweet words and bathing her in kisses, in touches, in his scent. tears leaked from the corners of her eyes against her own will as she pressed up against him just as tightly, whimpering and murmuring against his mouth. "They will be beautiful only because the love I feel for you is beyond even the most eloquent of words. You will be the most amazing father Demonio." She murmured back to him, lost in the utter bliss their life had taken.

He had been born into his own family, with his own parents, with his sister Luna. They had been a happy family, loving and caring towards one another. He always respected and loved his parents beyond words. They had always provided for him, cared for him, tended to him whenever he needed it, they had been his constant support. And Luna, she had been the first partner in his life, his sister, his partner in crime. But those were time pasts. He would never see his mother again, never see his father again, never see Luna again. And the thought saddened him. He'd always thought that when he finally found that woman that he was going to spend the rest of his life with, that he would introduce her to his parents, to his sister and she and his sister would hit it off and they would become the best of friends. And when his wife became pregnant, he would joyfully announce the news to his parents and they would be there for the birth, to welcome their grandchildren into the world. But that was never going to happen. His parents would not be able to meet his children, never be able to meet Desdemona, his beautiful wife. It was a depressing realization, but one he would have to accept.

Wiping the thoughts of his deceased family from his mind, the ivory knight brought his full attention back to the moment at hand. He was celebrating the fact that his wife was pregnant with his children. There was no time to be moping around for something that couldn't be changed. He had to stay in the now because this, him and Desdemona, their growing children within her womb, this was his preset and his future now. There was no use in looking back into the past. There was nothing for him there anymore. The past had to be left in the past. He had a family to take care of now. Her beautiful smile would chase away the lingering thoughts of what was no more, enveloping him in the joys of his coming family. His own jowls would split ever wider, his grin nearly spanning his entire fa?ade. How could he not be happy about such news? A father. Who would've thought him to become a father so soon. Yes, his wife had committed a mistake, betrayed him in her blind search for the betterment of the pack, but that was all forgotten now. That too was in the past. He had forgiven her transgression, thrown it out like it had never existed. She was only a mortal being, no godly being that was perfect and made no mistakes. Why should he hold a simple mistake against her and miss out on something to amazing as the starting of their own family? No, he didn't care about that anymore. He just hoped she would be able to forgive herself and forget it as well.

She would laugh at his antics, finding him inability to control his emotions quite endearing, making him that much more giddy. As he fawned over her, bathing her in kisses, trying unsuccessfully to mold her body to his, he would feel moisture leak from her pretty mismatched eyes, causing him to pull back, audits pinning themselves against his crown as he reached up, swiping at her tears. Please don't cry mi amor, I can not bear to see you cry. And I will only be the most amazing father because I have such an awe-inspiring wife at my side to help me raise the product of my undying love to you. His words were thick, husky whispers as his own tears prickled at his icy and maroon eyes, threatening to spill over, the emotions crashing through him becoming somewhat overwhelming as they constricted his throat.
