She was vary nervous and still vary unsure about this decision. She had tried the pack life before and it had failed, separated from the only father she knew she was now alone. Them meeting Qualm she found she felt comfortable around the male enough that she trusted him. He was teaching her and right now this is what she needed. She couldn't survive without being taught and she needed protection while she was learning. She away she moved from the meeting, Karabela already knowing that she wanted to speak with her privately. She was not good in crowds and would feel much more confident one on one with the female. She also felt rather embarrassed that she was a yearling and new practically nothing. She wanted to be sure to explain her situation to the alpha female and to be honest with her.

She hoped that the female would be willing to accept her into the pack, would be willing to allow her to learn and grow and hopefully this would be a permanent home for her. Hopefully she could settle and get her life in line and onto a better start. Sighing she settled at a spot away from the meeting and away from the ears of others. There she settled into a sit and waited for the alpha female. She would be patient knowing that others may need a quick word with her.

I SEE ANOTHER MOUNTAIN TO CLIMB BUT I GOT STAMINA

With the meeting wrapped up Karabela stretched and let out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding. So far, so good. The pack was small but she was grateful she hadn't been left standing on a ledge looking into the night all by her lonesome. Of course now the real work would begin. She had to learn to be a leader. She knew something of leadership from her mother Dægmar who had been the lead warrior in several packs but her mother's methods had always been harsh and demanding. Empathy was not her mother's strong point… but Karabela had always been a bit gifted with it. She only hoped she could be a leader that would make her mother proud even if her methods were a bit different. Her gaze tipped skyward for a moment before turning back to her budding pack.

There were a few wolves she needed to talk with and she would head towards Delaney, hoping that she would be able to answer any questions the girl had. This would be new to her. She'd never held a leadership role before and she could feel the butterflies stirring in her stomach. Smiling at the girl she moved to sit next to her. "It's nice to meet you Delaney, you have questions for me?"

She was surprised that she didn't have to wait long and the dark form of the female came into view. She felt her gut flutter as her nervous nature began to bubble to the surface. She shifted, trying to settle herself as the female came closer. She didn't want to be nervous, she wanted to be open and work to try and fit in with this pack. She had no other option at this point because she needed to learn and grow before she could be on her own. She had found someone to teach her and right now that is what she needed the most. She watched her Move over and sit beside her and jump straight to the point. Delaney shifted and nodded her head.

"Yes and to also to let you know a bit about myself, I didn't have this opportunity with the last pack I was in and honestly I should have." she started, her green eyes looking to the older female.

"I want to know if I will still be accepted and given the chance to prove my worth even though I am so far behind in learning what I need to survive." she asked before continuing. "To explain myself, life hasn't been a normal start for me. I lost my mother to two lone wolves who decided to attack her for no reason, I was adopted by an older male named Max, we traveled to a pack called Myriad, but before we could settle and he could teach me the proper skills the fight happen and Myriad fell. I got separated from Max in the chaos and ran into Qualm a few days after who offered to take me on as his pupil. I don't want to be a burden to this pack, I wanna learn and grow, but I have found it is vary difficult to do when you are a loner."

She still missed her mother and really missed having her close. Max had been great and all, but there was something about being with a mother that was so much more comfortable. She had often wondered how her life would be right now if her mother had never died. Pushing back the thought she focused back in the matter at hand.

"May I still join your pack?" she asked. She still wasn't even sure how a pack really worked.

I SEE ANOTHER MOUNTAIN TO CLIMB BUT I GOT STAMINA

The girls seemed nervous and Karabela smiled gently in what she hoped was an encouraging manner. She knew her size could be a bit off-putting and her tendency to carry battle wounds certainly didn't help soften her image. Though she also supposed it could just be the fact that she was now a 'leader' in a position of power and that was certainly an odd thing to contemplate for Karabela who had spent so much of her time as a foot soldier. Being an alpha was definitely going to take some getting used to.

I want to know if I will still be accepted and given the chance to prove my worth even though I am so far behind in learning what I need to survive

Karabela nodded as the girl spoke and let her continue on despite the urge to jump in and say of course she'd still be accepted. She already had a mentor and Raba believed in the value of a wolf's potential and nature. She didn't need everyone sculpted into a perfect roll right off the bat. As Delaney spoke Raba's thoughts drifted lightly to her niece Dagmær. The girl was about Delaney's age and in a similar situation in that she still had so much to learn but due to being separated from her family and eventually her pack she still had some catching up to do. Though Dag had at least had Imperium's guiding hand for awhile.

"I appreciate your honesty Delany and don't fret. Skills are indeed valuable but a wolf's character and drive can be more important. Skills can be learned and I feel you have the will and the mind to do it. As such I would love to accept you as an Apprentice in Ivory Ridge. As an apprentice you can focus wholly on learning the skills you need for your desired field. I take it you wish to study healing under Qualm?"

She was nervous, shifting uneasily in her spot. She normally did not blurt out her whole life story to anyone, but she felt that she needed one hundred percent honesty with Kara. She was to hopefully still remain her new alpha and Delaney wanted to keep no secrets from her. Even though she was unsure of her future and whether this pack would survive or not, but she had to try and put the proper effort forth. This was all she had left, Qualm had picked up the shattered pieces and had given her new hope and she was going to cling to it and be the best she could.

She looked to Karabela as she spoke and it felt like a burden was lifted off of her shoulders. The women was still willing to have her be apart of the pack. Her tail wagged eagerly as she stated she would love to accept her as an apprentice. She then asked if Delaney would like to study under Qualm and she smiled.

"Yes I would. He has been so helpful to me so far." she replied her tail still wagging.

The girls body relaxed and she felt so relieved that she was still accepted. It gave her so much more hope that things were going to be okay, that her life was starting on it's new chapter and that she would continue to grow. Her only wish was that Max would be here with her, but he wasn't.

"Thank you so much Karabela, it is an honer to be able to join your pack and I hope to serve you well." she said with a smile her tail still happily wagging. "If you don't mind me asking what brought you into creating this pack."

She wanted to get to know Karabela a little bit her new alpha.

I SEE ANOTHER MOUNTAIN TO CLIMB BUT I GOT STAMINA

Karabela hoped she was putting the girl at least a bit at ease. She'd never really considered herself as that much of an intimidating figure before though in hindsight she could easily see how she'd be a bit off-putting. Building these types of relationships was going to take time. Delaney confirmed her suspicions that she'd like to continue learning healing under Qualm and the Chieftain would nod. It would be so. She smiled at the girls excitement. That's what she wanted to see! She hoped the members of her pack could share in her excitement for this new venture and that they could all build something great together. "Very well, Delaney, you will be ranked an Apprentice studying healing under Qualm. When you and he feel that you're ready let me know and we will test you for the full rank of Mender. I'm glad that you're excited and I'm honored that you're here."

Karabela pondered Delaney's question, uncertain how much she wished to reveal. It wasn't that she didn't trust the girl but most parts of her past were highly personal and not something she wanted to share with any one really. However, she did owe the girl an answer and especially the truth. Karabela would not start Ivory Ridge by lying to her members. "Well… it's a bit of a long story but I guess I was just feeling… dissatisfied with where I was. I was part of a pack and I had a good rank and I liked many of my fellow pack members but I just felt like there was more I could do with my life. Like there was something else I was destined for if that makes any sense." She chuckled. "I settled on trying my paw at a pack and here we are."

She gazed at the girl for a moment. "What of you Delaney, how did you end up here in Boreas, if it's alright for me to ask. Were you born here as well or did you travel?"

She was feeling so much better now, like the large weight upon her shoulders had been lifted and that she was finally able to breath. The girl smiled so thankful that she had run into Qualm in the first place. He had become such a dear friend that she enjoyed spending time with and learning from. He had led her to this great opportunity and it made her even more grateful for the male. She could only hope that she could do the best to her ability within this pack. She would not let them down and would do her best to become one of the best healers they could find. She had a long way to go, but she would get there one day. Her tail wagged in happiness as Karabela spoke so happy that she would get to work under Qualm and learn more from the slightly older male. Eventually she would need to be tested before being moved to Mender which gave her a short term goal to work towards.

Her question seemed to make Karabela think a little bit and patiently the young girl waited to hear her story. She liked to learn about others and how they came to be who they were. She was even interested in pack drove an alpha to lead, what kept them going through the down times. Kara didn't have a mate so who was her rock in this process. Lots of questions formed in Delaney's young mind, but she wouldn't bombard the women with questions. Right now she just wanted to know about the basics so that she could feel a little closer to the older women. As she started Delaney completely understood. Her and her adoptive father had been vary dissatisfied with Myriad and if it hadn't been for the challenge fight, they would have requested to leave. She knew that feeling vary well. She nodded with the women agreeing completely with her. Delaney had felt the same, but she would never see herself turning to running a pack.

Then Kara modified and turned the question to her. Delaney was glad to share her past and where she had come from she had no shame in it.

"I was actually born in Auster in the territory of Aspen Dam. A beautiful area, but with all that happened it ended up being short lived. Max found me in a territory over from my birth den and took me in. We traveled to Boreas and began our journey there" she replied.

I SEE ANOTHER MOUNTAIN TO CLIMB BUT I GOT STAMINA

Karabela's ears perked forward in interest at the mention of Auster. Now that was an area she needed to do some exploring in eventually. She'd heard many tales of the strange and beautiful lands there but she'd rarely gotten the opportunity to explore them. Perhaps some day in the summer when the seasons were gentler to Ivory Ridge and she had someone she felt could watch the pack for awhile she would venture to the far south. She marked the territory name, Aspen Dam, and made a note to visit this beautiful area and see it for herself, of course that assumed she could find it but perhaps she could ask Delaney to give her a tour later in the warmer seasons.

Karabela did not recognize the name Max but the way she referred to him made it clear that he was not a parent. Had Delaney lost her parents when she was young as well? Karabela thought about bringing it up but decided against it. They'd only just met and she wasn't keen on dragging up any demons the young girl might be dealing with let alone wasting oxygen on her own. "Well, I hope you come to enjoy Boreas as well. I know Fenrir's Maw isn't the nicest of territories but I have seen beauty here as well, it just requires a bit of patience."
