For any setting, the time of day is extrememly important. It helps set the moods of the characters, how they meet, and what may happen after the first set of salutations. So, the setting that was chosen for Aeil's particular day was midday. The sun was shining above in the sky, trying to have its warmth beat the cold winds that blew below it. Winter had spread throughout Alacritis, causing the atmosphere to be chilly and spine-tingling. White covered everything: tree branches, the ground, and even the tips of the numerous blades of grass that made up the plains.
It was in this wide range of tall grass that Aeil could be found. Walking through the green stalks by themselves was one thing. Having to deal with the snow that weighed down their slender blades was different for her. She figured that in the spring, when the snow was swept away by the warm winds and sunlight, they would be more pleasant to walk through. Her dark form stood out against the white and green settings as she stopped walking. Aeil's blue eyes, currently the color of the ocean, were scanning the unfamiliar terrain. She figured that if she was going to be around the South more in the future, figuring out where most of the lands were was a good idea. The rumbling in her stomach made it even more mandatory to explore the grassy plains.
Aeil lowered herself so her spine and the tips of her ears were the only parts of her showing. Sniffing the crisp, winter air, she closed her eyes and concentrated. About a quarter of a mile to her right was a scent that reached her nostrils. With ears perked, she turned her head and then the rest of her body in that direction. Her paws covered the ground quickly and she remained out of sight...or as best as she could. From a bird's eye view, she left a snake trail through the tall blades, but she didn't pay this any attention. Her hunger kept her going and she eagerly approached the scent's location. Aeil stopped a few yards from it and peeked her head through the blades. Who knew what she would find!

Holding down the skinny hare he had caught earlier, Orion lowered his head, ears falling back and tail lashing as he peered around warily. He was hungry, and the large male needed food if he was going to go attempt to join a pack. He was looking forward to going back to Lentajin, because he didn't know what he would find. Leaning his muzzle close to the prey, he became quiet as he skinned it the way he had been taught. Finishing quickly, he nipped at it, before gulping the whole thing hurriedly.

Pulling himself up to his full height of 35", he perked his ears, hearing a faint noise of... pawsteps. Licking his lips, he flexed his claws quietly in the ground and shifted on his paws. He lowered his tail to show that he was no threat, and fixed his gaze on the direction he had heard the noise. "Who's that?" He called out, stepping forward as softly as he could, attempting to not make too much noise because of the snow. He was unsure if it was a ranked wolf from a pack nearby, that pack Seracia, or if it was just another rogue, and he knew he had to be careful of how he presented himself.

Treading forward more swiftly now, he lowered his head, ears falling back again, and tail flowing out behind him. His beautiful yellow gaze with the blue flecks was fixated forward, and he pushed his body down more, his banner skimming the snow, and his pawsteps brisk, as he approached the noise he heard. Skidding to a stop, he lifted his head as he caught sight of a beautiful femme, and he tilted his cranium, auds perked high atop his crown, angled towards her. "Hello there." He barked warmly to her, kindness clear in his voice. "I'm Orion. And you are," He paused, sniffing the air for her scent, "not of a pack that I smell."

When her eyes and nose had caught the sight and scent of the strange male, her belly did flipflops. She had expected something completely different. A rabbit, or even something bigger, like...a deer? Aeil figured she was grasping at straws when she thought of large prey. Well, 'large' was what she got..just not in the form of potential dinner. She wasn't the type of wolf who enjoyed the taste of her own kind.
Her head had been lowered to make her whole spine a straight line as she walked. It wasn't until her ocean blue eyes met his yellow opts that she raised her head. Slowly, she came out of her warrior stance and regained her full height and posture. Her tail twitched and unstraightened, only to hang limply between her hind legs. Aeil looked like a proud wolf as she brought herself to her fullest height. Ears perked at the friendly tone in his voice and she couldn't help but smile softly at his approach. "Hello to you, as well," she gently said. "My name is Aeil, and it is nice to meet you, Orion." Her nose twitched to his scent as she spoke again. "You do not, either. I suppose I don't smell like my pack yet. I haven't been with them yet, but I know I am wanting to join them soon."
Her head cocked to the side and she took in the details of his face and fur colors. They stood out from the scenery around them, just like her own pelt. It was a similarity she enjoyed from the start. Being different from their surroundings helped her feel like she wasn't by herself out in the plains. Aeil's nose moved again and she took in another scent, one seperate from Orion's personal fragrance. "I will take a very wild guess and say that you have just been hunting?" Hunger was evident in her stomach, but she hid the facts from her eyes and her tones.

Orion smiled kindly at her, as she stood fully, transitioning from a... slightly aggressive stance, to a normal position. As his eyes scanned her, taking in the details about her, his paws carried him a few steps forward, just a little closer, yet not by too much. He flicked one ear back, just in case anywolf attempted to sneak up on them as they conversed. The other flicked toward the beautiful femme, the large male keen on catching every word she said. He nodded quietly as she introduced herself, "It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Aeil." His gaze flickered past her for a moment, thinking, "What a unique name. May I ask if it originated from a certain language or culture?"

He blinked as she mentioned that he didn't smell of any certain pack either. "Well." He commented, chuckling, "I was once in the pack of Lentajin, and I've been considering returning, since I've been gone for a little while, yet I also want to consider my other choices. I've heard good things about Seracia, and it seems a promising pack, yet I don't believe I know anywolf in that pack. Yet, I do know some wolves in Lentajin, therefore I think that might be best to go back to." He slowly lowered his bum onto the ground, leaning back lightly on his haunches, his body relaxing.

"What pack do you wish to enter?" He questioned her gently, studying her posture, and he gingerly draped his tail over his paws, tilting his head as he smiled. Then, he suddenly remembered her earlier question about him hunting, and he gave her a fainter smile, "Ah. Where are my manners, I forgot to address your earlier question. Yes, I did go hunting. Sadly, I have no morsels left to give, for if I did, I would have gladly let you have the rest. But as you see, it's winter and food is scarce, and the hare I found was a measly thing, small and not very filling. I'm sorry, yet I could help you hunt something larger." He paused, then hurriedly added in, "If you so desire." For he didn't wish to seem as if he was intruding on any alone time she wanted.

Her ears remained perked as she listened to Orion speak. The lower half of her body relaxed and she reclined to her own set of haunches. Cold ground met her bottom, but she didn't mind the blades of grass that bent with her oncoming weight. "Oh, but please, the pleasure is all mine," she countered, blue eyes dancing with her words. "As for my name...I am not all too sure about it." Her voice rang with honesty and a pleasant attitude as she spoke of the name her parents had chosen. "I guess my parents considered it, thought it was lovely, and decided it fit me when they saw me." Aeil wrapped her tail around her hind paws, intending on giving them the warmth they needed. "How about your name? I know Orion is a constellation, but, that's about as much as I know offhand."
"Lentajin? I have never heard of them," Aeil said. "What is it like over there? At least, what was it like when you were still with them? Do you think a lot of things have changed since you were last there?" Wow, where did those questions come from? Aeil wasn't sure, but what else was new? Now and then, she did wonder about her thoughts, but those feelings of doubt never stayed long. "Seracia, from what I have seen, has a good quality about it. I met the King, Gerhardt, awhile back, and when he spoke of the kingdom, I wanted to know and learn more about it..." A faraway look appeared in Aeil's eyes as she reminisced that day in her mind. "I didn't know what would result from that meeting," she said softly. Her eyes snapped themselves back to Orion, any traces of remembering gone from her gaze. "It's amazing how simple greetings and conversations can lead you to life-changing decisions and opportunities."
As Orion talked about winter making prey scarce, she faltered in the happy and relaxed nature that had swept around her. "Yes, that is true." Sadness filled her tones and she sighed. "I haven't exactly been looking for anything specific to snack on, so long as I get the nutrients that are needed to survive until spring." A smile then broke the sad mist that had briefly appeared. "I was born in the winter season, but I prefer warmer weather for the game and more sunlight." His offer then rose from the depths of the temporary saddening fog and her smile widened. "That actually wouldn't be a bad idea," she said. "I could use another hunting adventure, one that may have good results." Aeil nodded securely to confirm her statement and finished with, "If you would like to join me, I wouldn't mind."
