The giant fluff ball waddled out of the den. She was slightly thinner than she should have been, but still growing like a weed nonetheless. The sickness that had plagued her had vanished and with it her sense of curiosity, adventure, and the overall desire to explore had come back. Being confined to the den any longer to rest and recover absolutely disgusted her so she slipped quickly from the den before anyone else could tell her otherwise.

A mischievous grin tugged at her lips as she broke off into a run. Her fur was a wolf mess. The fluffy bits stuck up in all directions and she didn't care at all. It was before noon and then sun had yet to let its heat settle in. Even if it'd been sweltering outside nothing could keep her away. She was going to have fun and nothing would stop her!

She ran what felt a considerable distance before something caught her attention. Pausing, her chest heaving from the previous effort, she skidded to a halt. A butterfly had crossed her path and its fluttery wings entranced her. Play bowing now, she crouched and then stalked after it. Her tongue stuck out in determination and she eyed it before pouncing at it. Jaws went wide and the next thing the poor creature knew it had a pup's jaws clamped around it. Afrit was not so pleased with her catch though. She instantly spat the dead creature out in disgust. It tasted absolutely dreadful! "Yuck." She grumbled at the now dead butterfly. She glared at it now from where it lay on the ground covered in slobber and very much dead.

Enlil had been on the hunt for nothing else but his beloved butterflies. The child had a fascination with the insects, as well as the other creatures in the world. Enlil was starting to wonder if there was a place for his curious nature within the pack, if his thirst for knowledge could prove useful in it’s own way. Maybe he could talk to his mama about it? He felt hope in his heart and excitement for the future. There was so much he had to look forward to, same as his siblings, and together he was sure they were all going to make Ivalice into something great.

That was when Enlil heard the sounds of someone spitting something out. He lifted his head, gaze falling on Afrit. He grinned, glad to see his sister about, and started towards her… only to pause when he saw what she had spat out. A butterfly. Enlil’s heart went out to the creature, covered in slobber and unfortunately meeting it’s demise. The little boy padded over to it, gaze shifting from butterfly to his sister as tears welled up in his eyes. “We… we’ve gotta bury it!” Enlil let out a soft whine. He wasn’t sure why he was getting so upset… something about death of the creatures he loved deeply affected him. Sure they were small… but…

The sound of small paws caught her attention and her orange eyes turned to gaze at who was coming. She easily recognized the darker form of one of her siblings and she grinned brightly at Enlil. It felt like forever since she'd gotten to play and be a normal child like the rest of them. Her face fell when she saw that he'd saw the butterfly. Tears were welling up in his eyes and she furrowed her brows in confusion. What was he so upset about?

“We… we’ve gotta bury it!”

If her face could get any more confused it would have. "What?" She questioned him before she looked down at the butterfly. Oh! The butterfly. Of course this didn't help to dissipate the confusion any. She couldn't understand why he wanted to bury the stupid thing. It was only a butterfly and there were a lot more of them somewhere. Why did they have to go through the effort to bury something so tiny?

"Enlil, it's only a bug. Why do we gotta bury it?" And why was he so upset about it? She didn't ask him that though and instead bit her tongue.

Enlil kept frowning deeply, gaze focused on Afrit as she questioned him. He flicked his ears back, giving a soft whine. Only a bug...? "But Afrit... They’re pretty... They’re nice.” The little one looked down at the dead butterfly, giving a small sigh. “They’re too easy to accidentally hurt though. I killed one before... Papa said I bit too hard. I... I want to treat them with respect. Sure they’re bugs, but they’re special. They’re different.” He was trying to fight off the tears that were threatening to fall.

“I... I don’t know Afrit...” Enlil confessed, sniffling. “I just like them a lot. I don’t like seeing them hurt. They didn’t do anything...” The little boy turned, beginning to scratch at the earth with his claws. “I’ll bury it... It’s... It’s okay...” The young boy was shaking some. He just wanted the task to be over with so the butterfly could rest in peace.

Enlil seemed to only get more upset by her words. He insisted the butterflies were pretty (which she didn't overly care about) and that they were nice. She didn't see how something as mindless as a butterfly could be nice, they didn't even talk, but she was barely wise enough to keep her mouth shut. She didn't see how the death of a single butterfly impacted him so deeply, but he was obviously upset she'd killed it and she seemed to only be making it worse by not sharing his same sentiment about the creatures. She didn't feel as awful about it considering he'd killed one also, but it didn't mean that every single one warranted a burial upon death.

She was doing her best to see why they were so special. It was obviously something she wasn't going to understand so with a resigned sigh she nodded, mostly to herself, and was ready to help. Now she just felt guilty for making Enlil cry as he sniffled and began to claw at the earth to dig a suitable burial site. She glanced at the stupid creature in disbelief, hardly believing that this thing as the culprit of something so drastic, but in the end she set to helping him dig out a grave for the creature. If it made him feel better, whether or not she agreed to it, she supposed she'd do it.

"I'm sorry I upset you." She apologized almost reluctantly, trying to fill the silence that she'd let take hold. "I didn't realize you liked them so much."

Enlil glanced back towards Afrit as she spoke up shaking his head. It wasn’t so much that she’d upset him… no… the emotions within Enlil over the death of the butterfly were complex. They were symbolic to him though. “I’m sorry to get so upset… I know lots of things die but…” He had paused in digging, shaking his head. “I really do like them though. It’s hard to explain… I probably made you sad too…” He glanced towards the butterfly.

“But I’m not mad at you, okay?” Enlil glanced back to Afrit, giving a small smile. “After we bury it we can go play or something… You haven’t been out and about that much lately…” The little one carefully moved over to the butterfly, deciding that the whole they had dug was deep enough before moving it with care. Once it was safely within the ground he glanced back to Afrit again before starting to move dirt back over it once more. “You can even choose the game! If… if you want to play that is.”

She flicked an ear as Enlil apologized for getting so upset. Even he seemed to not understand his own liking for the tiny fluttery creatures which confused her, but she doubted she'd get a straight answer out of him either way. Instead she just accepted the fact that she would remain non-understanding and instead tried to flash him a small understanding smile. She just wanted him to cheer up and realize that she was sorry.

"It's okay, you didn't make me sad, I'm just glad you're not mad at me."

Her mood turned changed to excitement when the hole was done. At the mention of playing her tail wagged eagerly behind her. Now that was something fun they could do and she hadn't had the chance to spend any time with any of her siblings. Wouldn't that be fun! She nodded and then watched as Enlil moved the butterfly into the hole they had dug. Once it was placed in she helped bury it with dirt and tried to think of a game they could play. The answer came easily enough.

"Lets play hide and seek! You can hide first if you want." She grinned hopefully.

Enlil blinked with surprise as Afrit said that she was just glad that he wasn’t mad at her. “I could never be mad at you!” It was at this the child’s smile fully returned, tail starting to wag back and forth. “You’re my sister, Afrit, and I love you dearly.” The child glanced once more at the butterfly’s grave before giving a happy yip to the suggestion his sister gave for a game. Hide and seek! That would be perfect!

“Yeah! I love hide and seek!” His tail was wagging even faster now, his golden gaze looking around as he debated on places he could hide. Truth be told Enlil hadn’t spent the most time with his siblings yet either… but that was going to change starting today! He’d spend time with Afrit, Charm, Okami, and even the older ones if they let him! He began shifting eagerly from paw to paw, his gaze shifting back to his sister. “Okay okay! Once you start counting I’ll run and hide~ Then you can hide and we’ll have lots of fun, right~?”

She grinned broadly as Enlil admitted he could never be mad at her. She supposed he had a point - she'd killed a butterfly and he still forgave her for it. She felt the heat rise to her cheeks as he mentioned that he loved her. "I love you too Enlil." She muttered quickly, eager to get to playing a game. Icky, gooey, lovey emotions weren't her strong suit and displaying them was even more awkward for the girl.

She was glad he was up for a game of hide and seek. Her tail waved faster than ever and she sank into a play bow. "Okay okay! I'll cover my eyes and you can go hide!" She then lowered herself to her stomach and closed her eyes. For good measure she flattened her ears against her head and covered her eyes with her paws and began a slow count. Fifty sounded like enough time to for him to find a place to hide. "Onnneee, twoooo, threeee..." She started off as she did her best not to listen to which direction he was going.
