Darkness in the winter is different. It's thin, pale, incomplete. Poser is the only real shadow here, despite the fact it's long past midnight. He walks on nights like these. He likes these evenings. They really are the best for the soul, feeding him, allowing the shadow to grow stronger. He is strong. He is beautiful. It's fantastic. All of it is fantastic.

There are dozens, thousands, millions of stars in the sky he walks beneath. Cutting through this incomplete darkness where it filters through the trees, he's looking and thinking of the lands where he walks. Where he wanders. Head high, a kick in his step. There's fresh powder around his feet and more falling softly from the sky. What a soft sky it was. Everything about it is... fantastic.

So there's hope in his heart. There's this idea that maybe he won't have to spend so much time alone. There's a hope that maybe he can fill his heart back up with all the things that were supposed to matter. That was the hope. Here he was, after all. Walking and waiting and hoping, surrounded by fresh fallen snow.

ooc: Sorry it took so long!!

It was time for her to move on and stop thinking of her family. She had left Boreas and had searched through Auster and even father for any signs of her mother, sister, or family, but she had come up short. Slowly she had made her way back up through Boreas, leaving her here in the orchard for the evening. The fruitless journey had left her body thin and her paws worn, but at the same time her muscles were toned from all of the constant activity and she knew more of the world now than she had ever wished to.

She wandered slowly through the trees, half looking for a den and half looking for some kind of entertainment. Her traveling had left her with odd hours as far as sleeping went so the middle of the night was a pretty normal time for her to be awake. As she passed by the trees that were softly lit with starlight, she spotted another wolf walking near by and for a moment she paused to assess his figure in the distance. She almost missed him entirely with his dark coat in the shadows. Her own colors were sure to stand out like a sore thumb. They usually did. Her white fur and orange markings were hard to miss.

Hera waited for a moment to see if the man would continue toward her or would divert his path. She wouldn't mind the company, but she wasn't in the mood to be pursuing strangers that didn't care for her attention tonight.

Poser is all hope and fresh fallen snow as he moves toward the woman. Head high, gait easy, eyes soft. There's something comforting when you are as he is. When you are absolutely and entirely unable to be phased by what's in the world around you... he'd already seen so much. So much has happened at his feet, it's almost like nothing else can phase Poser. That's the fun part. The fun part is when there is absolutely nothing left that will bother you, so you can comfortably watch everything happen from afar. Comfortable. Easy. Thinsg would be easy, if he remained as he was.

There is a woman, and she is not so far away. The thing about incomplete darkness, like that in winter, is that no matter what color you are you'll stand out somewhere. Poser stands out against the snow. This woman stands out against the shadows. His approach is graceful, gentle, eyes on her face and on the rest of her. She may actually be the decnt company he's looking for today. He needs someone to be around. He needs to not be alone.

There's a soft bark in his throat as he closes the gap, not wanting to scare her off. Yes, he is gentle. Poser isn't always the best at that, but he tries. He tries pretty hard. "Good evening," a tail wag. He would offer her a tail wag and hope that was enough to not push her away. Was that acceptable? Hopefully. Right. An effort. That was all he could make.
