A large bundle of energy would be a good way to describe Fable, and there was hardly anything that could calm him down. His mind wanted to expand and he wanted to learn all he could. So when he rose first, like he usually did, he walked over to his father and flopped on top of him. With a huff, he tried to wake up the large male. Lifting his large puppy paws, he pounded on his head with a loud yap. When that wasn’t enough, he leaned down and nipped at his ear with his sharp puppy teeth. "Da!" he ‘whispered’, which in reality was a very loud raspy call. "Da wakes up! I wanna learn, teach me teach meeee!" Fable whined, rolling off until he landed on the den ground with a thud. His limbs flailed above him, trying to connect one of his back paws with his father’s gut. The boy would do anything to wake him up.

Seeing as that didn’t work, Fable glared at the older man and stood up, racing out of the den. Fine, if he wanted to do this the hard way so be it! Trotting over to a stream, the white marked pup lapped up water until his mouth was full. Making his way back to the den with his head and tail held high, he marched right over to Creed before opening his mouth right above his face. Oops, did he just splash cold water on his father? Maybe… Would that work? Only time could tell.

He hadn't realized how tiring kids would be. Had Surreal been feeling well he probably would have bothered the woman to get an idea of how raising them would be. Of course he hadn't expected Kav to spit out five of them and they were all handfuls. He was enjoying having them to fill up his time, even if they left him exhausted each night. He certainly envied their energy and vigor and it seemed their curiosity was almost endless.

This morning was no exception.

He'd been sound asleep when the weight of his first born plopped onto his back with a huff. An ear flicked but he was reluctant to get up just yet. Puppy paws were the next thing that he felt as he came down on his head. Groaning was the only thing that escaped him, but it seemed Fable wasn't done with assault. He didn't open his eyes though and the next thing he knew tiny milk teeth were digging in to his ear.

He still wouldn't budge though. Still half asleep and unlikely to move he was firm in his slumber. He was faintly aware of a paw to his gut, but these he was used to. Some of them had a habit of kicking in their sleep, but they were all still relatively tiny so it bounced off of him with no harm done. Fable seemed to have given up and with any luck the child would go back to sleep. He didn't hear him leave the den, but a few moments later cold water splashed down on his face.

Feeling much more alert now his head sprung up and he glanced around confused before he stared at Fable. His nose scrunched up before he flung water droplets from his face as he shook his head to be rid of it. Well Fable had gotten what he asked for. Creed was very much awake now. His gaze focused in on his gray and white marked child and he stared at him confused for a moment before he let out a chuckle.

"Alrigh' alrigh, Ah'm up. Wha' is it yer wantin ta do today?" He asked curiously, having missed the part about wanting to learn something. He knew the boy must have something he wanted to do, else he wouldn't have been so insistent on waking him.

It took awhile, but at last his dad's eyes popped open. He looked really confused, but he shook his head and scattered drops of water on him. Fable jumped back and let out a yelp, standing there with his right foreleg raised. No that wasn't fair! He had wanted his father to get wet, not him! Shaking out his own fur, he jumped back at Creed for some retribution. He flew at his father, attempting to latch his little puppy teeth around his left ankle, trying to wrap his front legs around the same limb to hold it fast into his mouth. It wasn't that hard of a bite, just a soft nip if he was allowed to do even that. After his little stunt he rose to his paws, bouncing around the larger man in a tight circle. He asked what he wanted to do, which made the boy pout. He already said that he wanted to learn something! "Anyfing! I jus' wanna learn!" The boy exclaimed, coming to a stop in front of his Da. Not waiting for the aging man, he turned on his heels and raced out of the den. Giving him the freedom to come and go as he pleased probably wasn't the best of ideas, but it was too late to shut him in now. Hollering as he raced out, he dug in his paws and came to a stop a short distance away.

When Fable looked over his shoulder he realized that Creed still wasn't at his side. With a sigh, he stomped his paws on the ground with force with each step he took towards the den. "Da! Come onnnnnn!" he whined, a demanding tone to his voice. He was bored of just sitting around and chasing things, he actually wanted to learn something and expand his mind. Something different than his normal routine would be lovely, he was craving some sort of change. Sitting around all day made him feel like a bump on a log, Fable craved to feel like he mattered and was needed. Time with his sire would surely do that, right?

Creed could do nothing but laugh as he flicked water on Fable after shaking his head. The gray boy didn't seem to appreciate it too much and before he knew it he had tiny milk teeth latched around his ankle. He feigned hurt and rolled over in mock submission. "Aye, Ah give in!" He cried while trying to hide the grin that threatened to overtake his face. He sure was full of energy this morning!

He rolled back over as Fable bounced around him excitedly. He tried his best to follow his movements, but with their young age came the kind of energy that he couldn't quite keep up with. It seemed he wasn't going to get to sleep in any time soon. Fable didn't seem to be wanting to wait either so he scrambled after his child as he escaped outside the den. He, of course, was slower than his son so Fable had already turned around and encouraged him to come on. He quickened his pace and exited the den with a grin.

"Hold yer horses, Ah'm comin'." He laughed. "Do ye wanna learn how ta hunt or perhaps fightin'?"

His father had flopped over to show his belly, making the boys dance more of a victory one. He was so big and strong that he couldn't believe that he had knocked him over with just one bite! Fable's chest puffed outward and his head rose with pride. He was so powerful! He bet that he could beat all his brothers and sisters in a battle, while only on three legs! Yup, that was totally possible. Not that he wanted to hurt his litter mates, but it sounded like fun, right? Well... for him. Losing couldn't be very fun.

With a huff he raced out of the den, getting irritated at his Da's slow speed. But when he ran back and told him to hold his horses, the gray and white boy paused and looked around him in confusion. Hold what horses? Where? What were horses? Looking back at Creed with his head flopped over to one side, his brows pulled together as he tried to figure it out. "Wha' horses? I don't HAS horses to howd!" he exclaimed. Was he supposed to have horses? Fable's lower lip protruded from his upper, an almost hurt expression on his face. Did his horses run away because he wasn't holding on to them?

Everything got washed away when he asked if he wanted to learn about hunting or fighting. His entire face lit up as he bounced back to his paws, shaking the worry away about his horses. He could find them later. "Umm I wanna wern figh'ing. Yeah, yeah! Cause then I cans be big and stwong wike my Da! I can beats awl da meanies away from my bwovers an' sistwer!" Fable yipped as he dropped into a play bow. His tail raised in the air and wiggled back and forth with vigor, a goofy grin on his maw.

He nearly laughed when Fable paused and looked around in confusion. He supposed his choice of wording had been bad, but it was too late to take it back now. Instead he listened as Fable asked him about the horses and he chuckled to himself. He noted the hut expression on his face and he shook his head and sighed softly with another chuckle. "It's jus' an expression son. It means ta calm down a little. Ah'm not as young as ye so Ah can' move as fast." He explained patiently, hoping Fable understood him now.

The subject change seemed to get his mind off of it and he brightened up instantly. He was pleased with Fable's enthusiasm to learn how to fight and to protect his brother's and sister. He had high hopes for all of his children and he could only hope they'd pick up on the knack for learning like Fable already was. So he nodded eagerly and moved a few steps to a more clearer patch of grass so they wouldn't have anything to trip over.

"Okay then, fightin' it is." He said with a smile. "Rule number one: always protect yer throat. Do ye know why?"

Saying that it was an expression didn't clear things up like Creed may have hoped. He still gave him a confused look, but just nodded his head. He didn't want to seem stupid, now did he? Nuh huh, not at all. He would remember to ask another adult what an expression was. He knew that funny looks on faces were expressions, but holding horses didn't sound like that was a face he could make. Fable's features twisted as he attempted to see what it might even feel like, but he was at a loss for where to even start! Maybe if he knew what a horse would he could do a lot better.

Pushing it away, he focused on his sire as he took a few steps towards a more grass spot. Trotting after him, he stood across with a rather serious look in his face. It almost looked out of place on the normally energetic boy, but he was so excited to learn that he wanted to listen real good. His tail still wagged slightly behind him, but otherwise his father had his full attention. When he said that his throat always needed to be protected, he instinctively dropped his chin towards his chest. "Wike dis?" he asked, peeking upwards a little more because of his moved head. And then a question was directed at him, asking why he thought this was a necessary thing. Fable took this very seriously, his lips pursing as he thought really hard. "Umm... 'cause is a 'portant pwart?" he stammered, unsure why else it would be the throat specifically. He didn't wanna get hurt any place!

Fable's facial's expressions didn't go unnoticed, but for the most part Creed's brain was focused on other more important things. He wasn't too worried about teaching him what an expression meant until some other time. He was more excited about teaching his son the basics to fighting so he could get an early start. He had an inkling that he'd find this a lot more fun anyways that talking about something that didn't depend on a rank and survival later on in his life.

Fable followed him to a grassy spot and he smiled patiently. Fable seemed eager and raring to go and Creed appreciated to boy's serious expression as he listened to him. He nodded softly when Fable tucked in his chin and asked him if he was doing it right. Creed did his own demonstration, just so he could get a good idea of how it looked, and tucked in his own chin and lowered his head so his entire spine was level.

"Aye, jus' like tha'." He said proudly. "Yer throa' an' yer stomach are both importan' parts ta protect in a figh' since they're both places ye can bleed out from tha fastest."

Seeing his father lower his head, the boy did his best to align his head with his spine while his chin was tucked. It felt strange, and like he wasn't doing it right. The young boy pushed away the want to straighten up as he faced Creed. It was an unnatural pose for him to do, even more so because he hadn't actually been angry before. When he started speaking about how his belly was important too, he curled his tail under his legs until it tucked neatly against his belly. He didn't want to bleed a lot! Fable's blue and yellow eyes opened up wide as he nodded, his ears fully erect as he listened as best as he could. His grey and white legs quivered slightly from the odd position, but he held firm. Planting his too-large paws on the grass under him, he tried to solidify his stance. The boy looked down at his own paws to see if they looked okay, but the weren't exactly placed in the right position. It was putting a lot of strain on him, but he was really hopig to impress Creed. Glancing up, his tail tip swished against his belly as he smiled softly. "Is tha' good Da?" he drawled out slowly. He was standing okay, until he decided that his paws needed to be further apart. Slipping them outwards more, he thought he was doing pretty good until he was suddenly on the ground... on top of his tail. Yelping, he jumped back up as his ears pinned to his skull. He was going so well too! A look of sheer disappointment cross his face as he plopped down to his rump, looking up at his sire to see if he had the same look on his features.

Creed watched as Fable mimicked him with every move and he had to admit he was impressed. For such a young kid he was doing very well. He eyed him as he lowered his head and even tucked in his tail. He could see that Fable was concentrating hard and he was pleased he was taking such an interest in making sure he learned everything early. Watching Fable would have been funny if this wasn't supposed to be a serious training session. He could still remember his own training sessions and how everything had felt weird and out of place to him. Did Fable feel the same way?

Fable wasn't content with his foot placement. On that Creed didn't decide to correct him until after he'd found a more comfortable stance. Fable looked up at him and he nodded. It wasn't perfect, but for a first try it was very good. "Aye, almos'. Ye wanna be comfortable with yer stance. It's gonna feel weird a' firs' bu' ye'll get tha hang of it." And that's when it went downhill. Fable seemed to decide that his paws weren't in a good position so he moved them further apart. The next thing Creed knew Fable had fallen on his tail. Creed looked at him confused for a moment before he let out a soft laugh.

"Don't be upset. Yer doin' really well fer yer firs' time. Now, do ye know wha' ye did wrong?"

He felt discouraged that he wasn't perfect at it right away, his face falling into a frown as he gazed up at Creed. His father spoke words of encouragement, saying that he was actually doing really well for having just started. Well, that certainly helped pick his mood back up! Rising to all fours again, he tried to think about where he had gone wrong. Well, he had seen that Da's paws were placed further apart, but... "I swid my paws too fwar," he said softly, looking down at the overgrown things as he spoke. Why couldn't they just magically go where they needed to? Wiggling slightly, he glanced up at the mostly gray man and then back down at his own paws, spreading them out until they were somewhat evenly placed. His back legs were still splayed a little too far, but he wasn't going to let himself fall this time. His white and gray tail fanned out behind him as he lowered his head again, feeling far more steady than he had the first time. Slowly his grin returned, his brows pulling together as he tried to do his best to focus on his stance. Instinct started to kick in as his claws bit into the ground to give him more grip on the earth. A little snort left his nose as he looked up at his dad, his features relaxing to see if he had done better this time. There was no doubt that he was a determined child, and he threw his whole heart into everything that he did.

Fable seemed upset, but easily shook it off as soon as Creed offered some words of praise. He certainly didn't expect Fable to be perfect at it from the get-go but he was happy he was doing so well. He hadn't really expected to train them so early, but he was glad they were all getting a head start. It meant they'd be more than ready to be apprentices by a year old and he could only imagine how well they'd do once they were old enough to choose ranks of their own. It made his heart swell with pride at the thought and he smiled down broadly at his son.

"Aye, ye did, bu' that's okay. Ye wanna have yer paws even with yer shoulders and haunches. Eventually ye'll be more comfortable with tha positions." He explained softly. It would take time, but Fable was already doing so well.

He remained quiet as he watched the gray child give it another go. He did considerably better on the second go around. In fact the only flaw was that his back legs were a little farther apart than his front ones, but overall he was impressed with the stance. His muscles would eventually come in too and Creed was sure Fable would have a much easier time then keeping himself stable and standing upright.

"Very good." He grinned back at Fable. "Ah think yer gonna be a natural at this."

His father confirmed his thoughts, telling him that he needed to make his paws even with his shoulders and his hips. Nodding his head, the boy scooted his back legs ever so slightly, but it still felt so odd to stand in such a proper manner. Creed said that he was going to get more comfortable with it as time went on, but he wanted to be good right now and not a moment later. Letting out a small grumble, he looked up to see that he was smiling at him. His Da said that he was going to be a natural, and a grin broke out across his maw. Good, good! He was going to be the best and there was no question about it! Holding his stance, he focused on tucking his chin towards his chest like he had done before. Fable’s brows furrowed as he focused on not falling over this time, grunting as his claws dug into the ground again. Carefully he wiggled his rump, making sure that he wasn’t just going to be knocked over. His legs stayed solid, his bi-coloured eyes lighting up as he gazed at Creed. He was doing it! "Wook Da, I gots it! I gots it!" the gray pup yipped, his tail raising to wag with impressive speed.

Creed watched patiently as his son gave it one more try. The boy's chin tucked inward and his legs spread out shoulder width and claws dug into the ground. Fable seemed to determined and yet pleased with the praise he was given. Honestly Creed was just ready to praise him for just trying. He was surprised when Fable took his rum and wiggled it. Curiously enough the boy didn't wobble or fall over this time. A wide grin broke out over his face at his son's words. "Aye, ye did! Ah knew ye could. Like Ah said, yer gonna be a natural." He felt like there'd been enough training for one day though. What was the point of having kids if you couldn't have a little fun with them though. His grin turned mischievous before he moved forward and tried to knock Fable over gently with a shove of his head to the chest. Maybe Fable would wanna play?

He was so focused on his stance that he didn't even realize what Creed was doing. Before he knew it, Fable was on the ground blinking up at his father. Confusion coloured his features for a moment, before a grin broke out on his inky lips. Springing back to his paws, he leaped towards the taller man and bent his head down towards his chest just like he had been shown. A series of playful growls left his lips as he aimed to nip at his sire's ankles. He wasn't going to get away with this! Laughing, the white marked boy jumped back as he landed in a play bow. His dual-toned tail rose as it wagged as he rose back to his paws and danced backwards with a soft woof. There was no way that his Da would be able to catch him, he was too fast! He had been practicing, running so fast until he nearly fell over and died from panting! One time he even thought he was gonna die cause he couldn't breath right. But now he knew how far he could go before he needed to slow down. Yipping one last time, he turned around and took off, bolting back in the direction that they had come from. His overly-large paws pounded on the earth as he let out another laugh, looking over his shoulder to see if the older wolf was following him. He had to go really fast, cause Da's legs were bigger than his! Determined, his tongue hung out of his mouth as his yellow and blue eyes narrowed. He wasn't going to get tagged, never ever.
