"Jeeze, what a boring lake,"she grumbled to herself as she pawed at the flat surface of the lake in front of her. Her shadow coated paw sent a ripple out across the surface and she watched it fade back out into nothing till the water was smooth again. She glanced around at the empty grass plains on either side of her and, after seeing that there wasn't a single thing around to entertain her, she turned so that her back was to the lake, laid down on her stomach, and then promptly rolled onto her back so that she could stare up at the sky. The tip of her tail dipped into the water as it lightly lapped at the shore, but she didn't care. "Maybe I'll catch a fish on my tail," she thought to herself, a slight grin coming to her muzzle and a short cackle of laughter leaving her at the thought. The sky was starting to turn purple with the setting sun and she guessed this place was as good as any to try and get some sleep. She hadn't been doing much of that lately so she could only try to sleep and hope for the best.

Before she could slip into sleep though, a light flicked past the corner of her eye and pulled her back out of her drowsiness. Her golden eyes blinked open and she saw the now dark sky above her speckled with stars. That flicker of light went past her again though and she tipped her head back to try and see it, making the world in her view look upside down. Fireflies! Suddenly she noticed the dozens and dozens of fireflies around her and scrambled to get back to her paws, ignoring the dirt and sand that was clinging to her back. She grinned and jumped to try and catch one of them between her teeth, her jaws snapping back together with an audible click just out of reach of the bug. She giggled wildly and moved on to the next closest bug, determined to catch one of the little glowing creatures.

I rise above it all and
I'm not coming down

He wasn't quite sure why he'd decided to set out as the sun was setting. He didn't particularly feel sleepy so he left Ridge's territory. He wasn't even sure where he was going, but anything was better than laying about in his den trying to find a way to make himself tired. The sun had set by the time he reached a lake and he didn't notice the lightning bugs immediately. Instead her surveyed the land as he studied the cattails, the lake itself, and the grass that grew thick in some areas, and in others almost none at all.

Her circled the lake and that's when he noticed one of the glowing bugs. It flitted past his face and he stopped suddenly as he watched it. How peculiar. He studied it for a moment longer before a snapping sound caught his attention. He walked a little bit longer and was surprised to find a mostly white female snapping at some fireflies like a child. He studied her for a long moment, his gaze passive, before he finally spoke.

"Enjoying yourself?"

A rather dull sounding question freeze just as she was about to leap after another bug and her head turned to see a brown and white man standing there watching her. She uncoiled her legs from under her so she could stand up normally as she looked him up and down. His expression said he wasn't very amused. "Well if you must know, I was, thank you very much," she replied with a flick of her tail. She turned to face him head on as she spoke. She really hoped he wasn't as dry and boring as he was coming off now cause he was quite the handsome brute. His eyes were so delightfully green, like perhaps they were made of some kind of acidic acid. It seemed like everyone around here had fancier markings or prettier eyes than hers. She'd be jealous if she could find it in her to care.

She padded toward him, her gaze tracing over his form as she walked down one side of him and circled around behind him. "What's it to you, hm?" she asked with a grin as she came up the other side of him. "Have something against having a little fun?" she asked, accenting the end of her sentence with a snap of her jaws near his cheek, much like the snapping she had been doing to the fireflies. A wild cackle escaped her then and she padded back to where she had been standing before, flicking his shoulder with her tail as she went.

Well she'd noticed him - it was almost impossible not to. What she thought of his presence .. well that had yet to be determined. He stood impassively in his spot a few feet from her as he tried to make sense of her actions. What exactly was the fun of catching lightning bugs and acting like a child? He couldn't imagine that they tasted good, provided a good source of food, and he couldn't wrap his head around the fun part exactly.

She answered him and he smirked softly. So she was feisty! He stared at her rather plain features and found her to be rather pretty. She reminded him almost of home where she'd fit perfectly into the snow. If she was any good at hunting she would have thrived easily with the natural camouflage that her pelt provided.

He remained rather stoic, the smirk still splayed across his lips, as she circled around him like he was a some sort of prey animal that she was stalking. He only moved his head to follow her as she circled to his other side. An ear flicked towards her at her words and he shrugged his shoulders before she snapped her teeth shut not far from his face. He didn't flinch and instead chuckled as she went back to her original spot in front of him.

"Nothing against fun, though I hardly think bugs would be worth the effort." It seemed his views might end up being different than her own. His idea of fun was challenging himself, pushing his body to the limit, and drowning himself in the thrill of a chase or a fight whether it be with a wolf or a prey animal.

Ah, perhaps he wasn't as dull as she originally imagined him to be. The smirk that crossed his features didn't get past her and she had to appreciate how he didn't flinch from her when she snapped at his face. Perhaps a bit stoic for her tastes, but pleasing to look at and intriguing to interact with. She turned to face him once again just as he spoke, stating bugs weren't worth the effort and she shot him a grin, chuckling softly at the thought. "Anything is worth the effort if you deem it so. There wasn't anything else more interesting around this lake, so the bugs became my entrainment. Well, until you showed up of course." He was a much more handsome form of entertainment, she had to admit.

"I'm Ira, by the way. What should I call you?" she asked sweetly, that wicked grin still tugging at her lips. All of her previous tiredness and and boredom was gone for the moment. Her interest in this stranger had taken care of that. "And while you're at it, what is it that you think would be... worth your effort?" She neatly folded her hind legs under her as she sat on her haunches, her tail curling around her while her head tipped slightly to the side with curiosity. She never really understood the point of this small talk. But it was the polite thing to do, was it not? Besides, she might as well take advantage of her initial interest while it was there.

He still didn't quite get the bug thing, but as she turned around to grin at him he cocked his head slightly. He wasn't going to argue with her on what the definition of "fun" was, but for him it certainly wasn't snapping at bugs. He was more interested in the fact that she found him fun now instead. What had he done to become such an interesting source of entertainment. He hadn't done much but stand here, say a few things, and well stand here.

"Tonrar." He greeted her with a soft rumble of his voice. Ira. If he hadn't known any better he would have thought she came from his homeland, but he'd never seen her before in his life and she lacked the markings his family had. There was no way.

He was lacking the grin that she had. To him she seemed a bit too open with her emotions. The smirk had faded from his face, but was instantly replaced with a morbid smile at her question. He wasn't dark by any means, but he enjoyed fighting, hunting, anything that gave him a thrill and let the adrenaline sing through his veins. That's what was fun and to him what was worth doing. Life wasn't worth living if you weren't risking your life to enjoy it to the fullest.

"Anything that bleeds."

"Tonrar," she repeated after him in a soft coo, a grin spreading across her lips as she tasted his name on her tongue. Not very many wolves she had run across were quite as... expressive as she was. And she was fine with that. She tended to greet the world with a 'here I am, now deal with me or I'll rip you apart' kind of grin. She had no real concept of how to behave otherwise. He may not understand how he could be so entirely entertaining to him, but she loved to see how others reacted to her. Not only that, but he was a living being and that was about all it took as far as she was concerned to be entertainment.

At his answer she blinked with surprise and her brows raised for a moment before she cackled with laughter. "Now that is a pastime I can get behind!" she had asked this sort of question of a few wolves since she had arrived here, but this was the first time someone had intrigued her this much with their answer. She uncurled her legs from under her as she stood and padded closer to him, her tail flicking with the sway of her hips after each step. She stopped in front of him just a few inches from her nose touching his with a smirk. "I know I'm not everyone's cup of tea, Tonrar. You don't have to humor me if you don't want to. But if you did... well, I've been pretty lonely for awhile now."
