The sun peeked over the trees into her den, waking the girl. Yawning, she blinked her eyes open as she tried to get accustomed to the sudden light that had filtered into her den. She liked Summer, but at the same time she hated it because it brought on her uncomfortable time of the year. It also meant she had to sleep in another den away from her uncle since she was too embarrassed to sleep in the same den during the summer. She was a bit lonely during those times, sleeping alone was foreign to her since she had slept in the den with her uncle since her family left. Left. She could say that word now since she found out from Bass. No longer did she wonder if they had disappeared because of something out of their control. She knew the truth, and she hated them for it. Hate was a strong word and feeling for her, but how else was she supposed to feel about it? Her father had taken off and started a new family, completely abandoning her and didn't even try to see her. Her mother had done the same, or at least she assumed. She hadn't heard a thing about her, so she just threw her mother in the same boat as her father. Sighing, she got up and stretched out her muscles before shaking out her pelt. Once loosened up and awake, she slowly stepped out of her den and thought about what she should do today.

Maybe she could find Storm and get a lesson from her. She knew the healer had just had pups recently, and Quake had yet to see them. Would it be too soon to seek out her mentor for a lesson? She did want to learn so she could show Bass that she was trying, and so that she could finally be a regular healer and not the apprentice she had been for so long. She felt left behind in that aspect, and she partly blamed herself and her first mentor for leaving her hanging in her training. No matter, that was almost a year ago. She had to let it go, no matter how much that hurt. Shaking her head, she headed out to find Storm, and hoped that the other woman was nearby.

It had been so much work so far, but she wouldn't change a thing. Five healthy pups that was making her older body feel younger and more alive. She was doing her best at trying to be a good mother and she was vary thankful Bass was there to provide the male role model. Now that the pups were old enough and venturing out of the den the good role model that Bass was would be much needed. She worried though of how the pups would turn out, there had been something mentally wrong with their father and she feared on how to help them if they ended up inheriting something similar. If her Grandmother she was familiar with mental healing and poisons. The women was not here and Storm would be on her own at figuring this out. She would just have to remember how here mother was, no matter how they turned out to love them all the same and try to support them.

The children were asleep and Storm took this time to slip from the den and out into the summer sunlight. Slipping a short distance from the den she went to her herb den and grabbed a mouthful of different herbs. She moved back to a spot not far from the den and dropped her herbs. She settled down by the herbs and relaxed, nosing through her pile and testing herself on what herbs she had in front of her.
