Pyre crunched his way through the snow, weaving through the trees, until his paw happened to hit something soft and squishy through the layer of white. He hopped back and pulled up his paw to look at it. He didn't see anything on the yellow-dipped paw, but it smelled funny and the fur around his paw pads was a bit damp. He looked down at the hole in the snow where his paw had been and peeked down into it. Pyre started digging away the snow out of curiosity and ended up finding the last remnants of an apple that had clearly decayed and rotted. All that was left was a wrinkled skin and some soupy insides.

He wrinkled up his nose at the sight and rubbed his paw around in the snow to try and wipe off whatever rotten apple juice was on his fur now. He'd never seen a fruit before so he had no idea what it was, but the smell that was coming from it was too sickly sweet for his tastes. He'd have to ask his dad next time he saw him what it was and why they were there.

It was kinda nice out here.

He didn't mind too much all the exploration, after all how else was he to get a feel for the beast that inhabited this strange domain? Trotting about with out much of a game plan, he wove expertly through the trees. The fresh snow took some adjustment but at least it wasn't hot any more. Being a desert creature he never entirely adapted to such climate change, however as he got older he simply learned to live with it. But, that was true for most things in his life.

Up ahead was a young flame colored beast, curiosity sparked as he made a bee line towards him. something smelled funny, and he had a feeling he knew what it was. He halted a few feet away from the boy and peered down into the snow. A fermented apple was still half remaining as he wagged his tail ferociously at the sight of it. Been a long time since he got drunk. With out another word he pounced and gobbled it up rather happily. Then he turned his attention to the wolf in question.

" Hey kid help me find some more of these, I'll make it worth your while".. Turning away promptly he began sniffing through the snow, inhaling the rotten fruit as he went. Already getting a slight buzz, he rather missed the feeling. Perhaps today wouldn't be so bad after all.

Pyre didn't notice the older man at first - at least not until he stopped a couple of feet from him. He looked up at the stranger uncertainly, but that turned into disgust rather quickly when the white man suddenly pounced on the weird smelling thing in the snow and ate it like it was the most delicious, fresh prey he had ever seen. Pyre scrambled back a couple of steps from surprise and watched him eat with his nose scrunched up. Who in the world would want to eat that? Pyre didn't know what it was, but it certainly didn't smell like food.

However, when the man offered him something in return for finding more of those weird things Pyre was suddenly much more interested. He didn't know what it could be that would be 'worth his while', but the stranger had his attention. He was too curious to turn the offer down. "Yeah, okay," he said before he turned his attention to searching for more of those weird things. He sniffed around at the snow as well, sticking closer to the base of the trees since that's where he had found the last one. Sure enough, several feet away from where he started he dug through the thin layer of snow and uncovered another smelly thing. "Here's one!" he called over his shoulder to the man before giving another uncertain glance down at the unlikely buried treasure.
