~I Follow Your Lies To Avoid From Getting Lost~

She was becoming heavier, and Kait realized why without needing to be told. She was pregnant, pregnant with the king’s pups. Strengthening his line by blood, though not by royalty. She had repeated in her head time and time again what Vianni had snapped at her in the snow… she wasn’t Lucifer’s mate; she was his whore. Though that thought hurt, she was just glad she wasn’t alone anymore. Her desperate thoughts to make sure she held some sort of purpose feeling like they had been fulfilled. The femme couldn’t help but feel a little proud of her role… to serve under a great king and queen. Gods above the girl was so mislead…

She had wandered off, just a little, while her masters discussed private matters. It hurt, knowing that her Queen wasn’t exactly thrilled with her presence. For while Kait longed for company the only one she could seek it from drove her away. She settled on the earth and snow, not as far along as Vianni was, but Kait knew well enough that she was pregnant. Her scent had changed… and… in some ways she supposed she was a little afraid of what was to come. What if things didn’t really change? What if she remained just as alone as she’d always been save for the children she was to bear? What if they were too weak, too small, and unworthy of being the king’s children at all? What if Luc killed them?

Kaitlyn let out a soft sigh, her ears lowering as she shifted within the snow. She was cold… and just like Vianni her pads had become swollen. One was cracked, having bled, and was making it uncomfortable for the girl to walk on… though she dared not complain. She gave the paw a little lick now, a sigh escaping her as she adjusted her gaze further south, the direction they’d all been heading. Something had to change soon… but when? When would it change?

A soft whimper escaped the girl before she set her head down on the snow, shivering with cold. She missed her siblings… missed what once was. Why couldn’t things be simple again…?

Evangeline had been... around, though she'd not been making any particular waves. She'd known of her younger brother's stupid pack, but she'd not been in any way interested in joining any sort of pack CHAOS might have come up with and was in charge of. Like him, though, she'd slowly wandered away from Imperium's old pack lands to give her parents more privacy. Unlike him, though, her wandering had taken her more south. There were intriguing rumors of a wealth of new medicinal herbs in the southern continent, and though she'd dismissed them out loud at the time as being just stupid rumors and a waste of time, she'd been interested enough to make her way down here to investigate. That was, after all, what had drawn her to healing. Certainly it wasn't because she enjoyed spending time around idiots who managed to get themselves hurt or sick. Gag. But the puzzle, the mystery, of diagnosing a disease, the elevation to godlike control over life and death, that was what drew her. And that was what drew her to the southern continent now.

That, and she was fucking sick of the snow.

Her pack barely bounced against her back with the straps pulled tight, but moving from a generally-sedentary life to a cross-continent trek carrying weight on her back was exhausting. So when she went to cross the landbridge from the familiar northern continent into the unknown southern and found her path interrupted by a trio of wolves, rather than pushing her way straight through them rudely like she would normally have done, she slowed to a stop near the much smaller little female who huddled away from the other pair.

She eyed the tiny thing with a haughty air, but then her nose wrinkled in disgust. Ew, it was pregnant. Pregnant and from the looks of her she'd been on a longer journey even than Vana. Ugh. Idiocy. If wolves would make the effort to do the smart thing and take care of themselves, she certainly wouldn't have to go out of her way to save their idiot lives. "Not that I care one way or another," she snapped out, glaring down at the scrawny, freckled creature, "but you're going lose that litter of yours pushing your body too hard. Maybe you don't care about the pups and the pups certainly don't care if they die, but you might want to start caring about hemorrhaging and dying when you miscarry in your condition."

~I Follow Your Lies To Avoid From Getting Lost~
Kaitlyn hadn’t been resting long before another approached, and Kait looked at the stranger speaking with alarm. Was she allowed to interact with others? A quick glance was cast in the direction of the King and Queen. But even though she wasn’t sure if speaking to the woman was a good idea there were things she was saying that had Kait looking back to her in alarm. She shivered a little, glancing to her belly for a frightful moment. She could lose her babies? Her ears flicked back, a soft, pathetic whine rising in her throat before she turned her green gaze back to the other female.

“I can’t lose them…” The female said, her voice quiet. “I know that we’ve been traveling far… and it’s been hard on us all… but I can’t lose these babies…” Tears had begun forming in her eyes. Kait didn’t care so much about dying herself. These children, the little lives stirring within her, had given her a purpose. A reason to be where she was now. Without them what good was she? What hope for the future did she have? Besides that… she’d already started to grow attached to the little ones. Each time they moved within her she couldn’t help but smile… and now she was anxiously waiting, hoping she’d feel one of them stir again.

“We didn’t have a choice but to leave… But… I…” Kaitlyn looked back at her belly, giving another whine. “Gods please I can’t lose them… not now…” Her mind was starting to race, going into a tizzy as she tried to keep herself calm… and in vain. So wrapped up in the thought that she might actually lose the little ones the woman almost forgot about the other wolf present who had given her the information in the first place.
