She had left her companion deep within his slumber, slipping off in hopes to catch a good meal for the both of them to share. Now that winter had left she was unsure of what the next plans for travel would be. She knew Mortar would more then likely be restless being cooped up in the barn for so long and she didn't blame him. She too was restless and it was also the start of herb hunting season. She was sure her heat this past winter may have driven the male to be more restless and she felt bad, but the dear couldn't help it. Things were still odd between them, Mortar never would let her get to close and she felt she was always and tail length away. She wanted to be closer to him, but for some reason he didn't want her to and she was unsure why.

Sighing she shook her head and continued on, leaving the range and traveling into the knolls. Her nose to the ground and her tail high in the air the happy female moved throughout the knolls taking in the scents and looking for prey to take down. She wasn't a large creature so she would be forced to take small prey, one for her and one for Mortar. She continued to move through the grasses until she got to the spot above a herd of buffalo making her stop to stare at the herd for a bit.

He'd come here early in the morning hours before dawn. His eye was set upon a calf today and he'd settle for no less. Except there was one problem, and it wasn't a small one. In fact the problem happened to be one angry mother. A 1500 pound beast of pure anger and vengenc e for hos crime against her. The calf was laying a good 25 feet from him bleating out it's drama. He'd broken it's spine right before the hips and for that he recieved a head but and a toss. His hip was bloody, a gash in his upper thigh. He had promptly got up onto his perch. He was seated just out of reach of the buffalo, but they still surrounded him.

He turned his head to lick at his gash. His symmetrical patterned war paint was ruined now. He didn't even notice the woman from where he sat. He was busy with his own problems. He had caught tge attention of every herd member and now had to play the waiting game. He'd have to wait out their anger and hopefully that calf would shut the fuck up soon. It was irritating and he let out a snarl and yelled at it. "Oh shut up ya damn bitch! I ain't even killed you yet!" his hackles bristled. If it didn't shut up soon it would attract others and he didn't want to loose his breakfast to some damn coyote.

Her eyes noticed the herd acting somewhat off and she fallowed the gaze to the bloodied looking male. Ears shot up in worry as she saw all the blood, not realizing that some of the blood was purposely painted on himself. Her eyes traveled to the bawling calf noticing that it indeed had some damage that left it unable to move. So the male was trying to take the calf on his own? Was he nuts? Most of the work was already done and the herd was so focused on blocking him from the calf. Huffing the female headed down towards the male looking to help this end quickly before all that blood loss (or at least she thought he had a lot of blood loss) made the male pass out.

She came up beside him looking the herd over as they stared at him. They shifted with her presence, but she knew their focus was mainly on him. She didn't look at the calf, but stayed focused on the herd.

"If you keep their attention I'll made a wide loop and finalize your kill for you that way they leave" she said to the male
