For a good day or two Faine had found herself wandering around and meeting strange wolves. Not that they were strange, well… Some of them were actually, but strangers, basically. Wolves she had never seen before, and most of them seemed to be quite nice if she had to be honest. Alarik was very kind, Pyralis she was slightly apprehensive about but she was still pretty cool, and that one wolf who she healed at Talis borders was… Alright, other than the fact that he constantly spoke his mind without a care.

Now though, she actually on a planned trip. No more wandering, hopefully, she wouldn’t run into some stranger brute who would flirt with her again. It was nice and all but she didn’t understand it, she didn’t hate herself but she didn’t think of herself as somebody extremely special. All the attention that was given to her was strange, and she just wanted to focus on trying to actually do something for Talis and scout out these resources.

And luckily, this time she wasn’t travelling alone. Kharnage was with her! Which was nice because she hoped on growing closer to him now that they had the time. The whole scene with him becoming a wolf full of rage hadn’t quite left her mind but maybe it wouldn’t hurt to ask about it. Maybe he needed to talk about it, and she’d gladly listen to if he wanted. But for now, they would enter a wooded area that seemed a little unsettling. Her eyes narrowing and she flicked her tail, “This place gives me a weird feeling,” she said.

Kharnage had been in an increasingly restless mood since the meeting. He was still holding out hope that they would still go on a raid, but Gryphon's words had clearly left their mark. It irritated him to no end at what he'd said and the way he'd spoken towards Dragon, as if he were an idiot. If he'd been in Dragon's place he would have ensured he wouldn't have spoken out of turn like that ever again. Of course he wasn't the alpha so he'd done his best to lay low since then and wait to see if they were going to leave. He'd promised Faine he would go with her to scout the lands once more for resources so the idea helped keep him distracted.

The only conclusion he could think of was that Lykos had tainted Gryphon. He'd poisoned his mind and made him a traitor just like him. Kharnage had never had any qualms with Gryphon until now. Maybe it was time to talk to Dragon to see what could be done. How long would it be until Gryphon managed to taint others minds? What if more started to turn on Dragon? No, now was the time to set an example before others got the idea to tear the pack apart from the inside.

Thoughts of what needed to be done had been shoved aside when he'd left with Faine. Eventually they came to a wooded area and his ear flicked towards Faine at her comment. He glanced around for a moment and, try as he might, he couldn't pick up on the same feeling. It just seemed like woods to him. Maybe a little dark and creepy to others, but he found he didn't mind it.

"I'm sure it'll be fine. It's just a forest, right?"

The taller brute beside her assured her that it would be find, stating that it was simply just a forest. She took in a deep breath, to her it felt like somebody was watching them to be honest. That wasn’t the best feeling in the world but maybe Kharnage was right, maybe it was just a forest and her mind was just playing tricks on her. “You’re right,” she said, “It’s just a forest,” part of her had to say it out loud so she wouldn’t let the feeling overwhelm her or anything. So she continued through the dark area, a cool breeze moving through the trees and ruffling her fur. A reminder that it was autumn, or spring, now and that she wouldn’t have to suffer from the summer heat anymore.

She continued to walk in silence for a moment, mainly because she was thinking about what to say. That, and she was trying to listen for anything out there in case they weren’t alone, despite the fact that she had tried to tell herself that it was just a forest. Her carmine gaze looked for any sort of herb as they would travel, so far a lot of it was just normal foliage. Nothing that would be useful to Talis, but she was determined and she wasn’t giving up this early on their journey.

“Kharnage?” she asked, her voice was calm and smooth, trying to think of a way to present the conversation. “Um… Is everything okay with you?” she asked, “I’ve never really seen anybody that angry, you know, at the meeting?” she mentioned and for a moment she looked at him, if he didn’t want to talk about if he didn’t have to. This was more of the curious side of her than anything, but she also didn’t want to possibly piss him off again.

She still seemed nervous as she repeated his words out loud to herself. Ears flicked towards her as he glanced around into the forest. There was a creepy vibe to the place, but he wasn't concerned about it. It really was only just a forest and if anything was lurking within its depths then he was sure he'd have a fun time beating it up. There was a slight tinge of arrogance to his egotistical thoughts. He had more than enough faith in himself and his abilities. If anything did attack them then he was confident that they'd regret they ever did. Maybe that confidence would even radiate towards Faine?

"Don't worry, I'll be your knight in dark armor if anything happens." He joked softly with a chuckle. He definitely wasn't a knight, but he'd protect her if it came down to it.

The cool breeze tickled the long hairs on his pelt and he felt the same relief she did. It wasn't the icy north, but at least it was beginning to get a little cooler out now. He was tired of feeling like he was baking in his heavy coat. he enjoyed it for a moment longer before padding after Faine. They hadn't found anything yet, but they still had a ways to go. This forest didn't seem as though it'd been hit by the heat wave as hard, but that didn't mean anything useful had grown in it either.

The silence was comfortable, something he'd been used to long before Faine had come into his life, but he was surprised when she spoke up. "Hmm?" He rumbled as she called out his name. Her next set of words sounded slightly more nervous, as though she was struggling for words, and she had his full attention now. he wasn't quite sure what to say as she mentioned the meeting. He didn't regret going off on his sibling, not in the slightest, and it had felt good to take out some aggression on him. Maybe he shouldn't have done it so close to Faine, but he certainly wasn't going to apologize to Gryphon for being a know-it-all dick.

"Yeah I'm great." He said at first. "Gryphon just pissed me off. I assume he thinks he's just so much smarter than everyone else. I'm sure Dragon would have listened to him if he hadn't been an insufferable, high and mighty, dick about what he was talking about."

Faine flicked her tail and she smiled a bit when he told her not to worry, saying that he would be a knight in dark armor rather than shining armor. “Okay,” she said and laughed a little bit, her eyes still looking for herbs and awaiting for an answer from him. Finally the brute insisted that he was doing great. Okay, well it was good to know that so far he wasn’t really dwelling on the situation or extremely bothered by it. Or if it did then he just wasn’t going to admit it. He explained to her that Gryphon had pissed him off, and noted that if hadn’t been a dick about it that maybe Dragon would’ve actually listened to him.

“So is Gryphon another brother or something?” she asked curiously, as she did hear something about him being a family member or something. It seemed like so far Kharnage had a few family members that she had yet to meet or personally talk to. Dragon had said that he was going to send his younger siblings to her so she could teach them about healing. She was sort of looking forward to that because Faine had found herself taking a liking to being around younger wolves. She liked to teach them things and make an impression on them because it was nice to see their young minds grow and process all the information given to them.

The fog seemed to be rolling in as they would adventure deeper and deeper into the woods. She took a deep breath, there seemed to be the scent of other wolves around but it was very faint and her gaze looked around carefully. So far, no herbs, and it was kind of disappointing if she had to be honest. It was just the normal foliage and of the like, a soft sigh leaving her lungs and she slowed so she was at Kharnage’s side. Still suspicious of the area that they were in and just generally feeling safer and protected now that she stood next to the rather large brute.

The fog didn't bother him as they continued forward. Instead most of his interest was on Faine as he kept one ear trained on her as he picked up on her curiosity. He hadn't explained much of his family (or anything about him really) to Faine so he didn't mind the questions. "yeah he's my sibling. There's four of us - me, Dragon, Gryphon, and Lykos." He made sure to spit out Lykos' name with a fair bit of spite behind it. "We don't really talk about Lykos though." Or at least he was content not to. His traitorous brother could die for all he cared, but then again that was too much of a mercy for his case.

"Then there's my younger half siblings, Afrit, Charm, Arke, and Okami." Them he didn't mind so much. They weren't annoying, didn't bother him, and overall seemed to show more of an interest in being productive members of the pack rather than starting drama and being traitors. It was funny how the children of a male he had disliked ended up better than some of his own siblings.

His gaze drifted towards Faine as he tried to get an idea of their surroundings. Judging by her expression there wasn't anything useful nearby which was somewhat of a disappointment. Then again it meant they could go forward with the raid so it wasn't too much of a loss. Either way it was easy to tell he was eager for a fight.

"Any luck finding anything?"
