It'd been a little while since he'd seen his family. He was aware that he probably should have missed their presence more than he did, but in reality his solitude hadn't bothered him. He'd seen many fascinating things in the last few months and he didn't regret it one bit. Auster had many amazing places that he'd fully enjoyed, but it was the land bridge that had his attention right now. He was aware that there was more land past it, but he'd never actually crossed over. He'd wanted to on multiple occasions but he'd never brought himself to actually do it. While he hadn't seen his family in a little while, this would assure that he wouldn't see them for a very long time.

It was a tempting thought. There were more lands to go explore, many new things to see, and maybe a whole new set of bugs to look at. He'd grown accustomed to the creatures in Auster, there was always a chance that there would be more exciting ones he could study up north. Right? Still there was this thing in the back of his head that was telling him to stay put for at least a moment. He wasn't sure what exactly it was that was bothering him. Maybe if he sat here for a minute he'd figure it out.

She felt terrible. She felt like a failure. She felt...inadequate. She felt like she had failed her children. It wasn't their fault. She knew she could never truly blame them. It was the man that had hurt her. Elias had brought this, and she was forced to live with it. She loved her children dearly, but she began to realize that she wasn't being the mother she should have been. She didn't seem to do too much more than feed them and watch over them, acting more like a caretaker than an actual mother. She was sure her boys realized it too. When they weren't eating or sleeping, she was often away from them. What she did during her time alone from them was nothing even worth having been away. She just...left. But she came back at night. But when they got old enough to mostly fend for themselves, she kept leaving, and came back less.

Now, it was too late. Legion had discovered the land bridge, and her heart sunk. She didn't want him to leave, but at the same time she didn't want him to stick around. This was no life for them. They should have grown up knowing the true love of their mother...but all they got was the distant side of her. Maybe it was too late to change that, after all, she was sure their hearts led them somewhere else while hers remained with finding her family. She knew where her siblings were, but the hesitation and Avalon finding out how her latest litter had been conceived felt shameful. But...it wasn't their fault. It was hers for not being more careful.

Quietly, she trailed Legion's scent until she spotted him. Ears folded back and her head low, she came up to stop a few feet behind him, her entire demeanor looking defeated. "Legion I...I'm sorry..." She didn't know what to tell him. She didn't know if anything she said would make anything right. Reinhardt would be following soon too, she was sure. She could already smell him coming. And her other child? He had been gone for a while. Maybe he had already left to the other side. For now, it was her and Legion.

He'd gone months without really seeing much of his mother, and yet it was something he was used to. He hadn't grown up any differently so it was normal to him that she disappeared during the day. She'd made sure they were fed and safe and past that they'd grown up relatively normal. Well, as normal was with their little family. Bellum had disappeared a long time ago so it was just him and Rein now, but it wasn't strange to him in the slightest. It was just how their lives worked and he saw nothing wrong with it.

He had no idea of his mother's guilt at how she'd raised them, but he wasn't mad at her for it. He still had that connection with his mother that most children had. She was his parent after all and she had a special place in his abnormal little heart. So when she came to him, apologizing, with a defeated demeanor? Well he was more than confused. What was she sorry for? She had done nothing wrong. Well nothing that he knew of, but he also wasn't going to be the type to be angry at her either.

"Why are you sorry?" He asked with a tilt of his head.
