Sassanach
The boy had wandered far from his home, something drawing him away from the pack lands. A need to be away maybe though even he wasn't sure. His paws drew him forwards, further and further away from the dessert and the lands he knew, new territory he'd never crossed before rolled away beneath his paws til he was finally satisfied with his wanderings. The grasses here reminded him of home and a part of him marveled at how far he'd wandered and yet how similar the landscape had turned out to be at the end of the day. Still he reminded himself this was not his home, he was an outsider to these lands, a Gaelic term he'd once heard Faite use flitting briefly in his mind. He wondered where she could have gone, he'd never been one for the usual rowdiness that accompanied his family but even he had to admit he missed her dearly and something felt off without her around. He could only hope she was alright wherever she was and she'd not judge him too harshly should she ever return... Talk Think |
Her mom had been gone for a long time. The girl was beginning to feel sad, something she wasn't very familiar with. Her father and brothers were around, but she was sorely missing her mother. She decided that she would try to track her down, and as she was preparing to leave the pack lands she scented Torin had already left. Was he trying to find her too? The small girl debated following him or going off on her own, knowing that if they went different ways they could cover more ground. But then what if she ran into someone big and that was mean? Or a bear!? Weren't they hungry at this time of year? She was certainly small enough to eat as a snack, so eventually she settled on following Torin.
She tracked his scent pretty far from pack lands, her small body skimming across the ground. Sure she was tiny, but she could certainly cover ground pretty quick. She had made it all the way to the North-east at one point and met some guy that had gotten all cuddly with her and told her stories, and he was huge! She was at the age now that she knew not everyone would be nice though. Bi-colored gaze would at last spot her brothers familiar gray form, and she would take the opportunity to try and sneak up on him. Tip-toeing her way behind him, she used her much smaller height to move through the tall grasses. She was well on his trail, so she was sure she could surprise him. Continuing her 007 tactic, Kairi made a small half circle around towards his left side until eventually, he was just a few feet away. Wiggling her butt the way a cat would before pouncing, she leaped the last few feet towards him and landed square on her paws in front of him. "Hey Tor! Watcha doin'?"

To say his sister's appearance was unexpected would have been an understatement, indeed he jumped, barked in surprise and scrambled back all at once when Kairi appeared in front of him. He hadn't noticed her following and wrapped up in his own musings she had managed to spring a perfect surprise attack. Even still the barest hint of a smile tugged at his lips as he fought to catch his breath and calm his pounding heart. "Thinking." Came his simple answer to her question. He frowned then, narrowing his eyes at his sister. "You followed me?" It seemed unlikely she'd stumbled upon him by simple chance, especially with her well executed surprise. Talk Think |
She couldn't help the giggle that followed her brothers reaction. Her tail wagged a mile a minute, a huge smile plastered on her face. Her head tilted to the side a bit, ears perking when he gave her a one worded answer. Thinking? That was it? Sounded boring. Though she had an idea of what he might be thinking about, and if it was the same thing she was thinking about then by all means, he could keep thinking away. Maybe if they thought together they'd have a better chance, assuming they were after the same goal of finding their mom. "Hm, alright then." Came her own simple answer.
When he questioned if she was following him, her tail stopped mid wag, a look that said "I've been caught" briefly flashed across her face before she quickly shook it away. "N-no, not really! I was actually trying to look for mom, and then I happened to cross your scent so...I decided to uh...track with you." That was a good enough fib, right? At least she could use the excuse that she assumed that's what Tor was doing, and if he wasn't well...oops. |
He didn't fail to notice the way his sister reacted to his question, and Torin quirked a brow in a knowing fashion. Still he allowed her to give her explanation and he frowned slightly. He had very briefly been distracted from his worries but she had managed to bring it back. He sighed and rose to his paws again. "Shall we then?" He gestured to the open expanse around them. The boy set to sniffing at the ground around them, in truth he didn't expect to find any trace of their mother but it gave him something to do besides stew in his misery. |

She eyed him, wondering if he bought her explanation. She was practically holding her breath it seemed, and then her ears perked when he spoke. Whew, so maybe he did believer her. Or maybe not. Whatever the case, she watched him as he set about sniffing the ground. She watched him for a minute before glancing around. Where should she start sniffing? Did she follow right behind him? Right beside him? Nah, she'd only pick up his own stinky scent and she wasn't trying to accidentally run into his butt today. Thinking for a moment, she bounded into the tall grassed with one big leap and disappeared on the other side.
Here she would start, making sure Torin was in earshot at least. She could hear his footsteps, and as she set about trotting one way, and then another, she eventually doubled back to Torin's location and stuck her head through the grass, "Hey Tor! D'you think mom is even around here? Dad's been looking for her all over and uh...I have too, and I can't find her nowhere." What if their mom was hurt? Or had gotten lost herself and just couldn't find her way back!? Her eyes widened then, "D'you think she's...lost?" |
