Slaughter House

Snow crunched beneath his feet, paws leaving deep marks in the earth as he walked. Cerberus wasn't too pleased with how he'd found his sister, so instead of sticking around he had taken off again to take the time to think about it all. Cerberus didn't like change. He didn't take it very well. And to know that Mara was with some old fuck that could hardly speak english that could actually be understood didn't settle well with him. At all. It was only thanks to his respect of his sister and Felicien that he hadn't torn that sap to shreds.
He came to the top of a rise, stomach growling as wind and snow whipped around him. He could sense a blizzard would hit later in the day, so he figured he'd try to hunt now before he lost his chance. He searched the field below, and some distance away he could hear the grunts of a small herd of buffalo that had yet to migrate. Narrowing his eyes, he noted that the wind was whipping the snow around them as well, the small herd huddled together for warmth. He stood there and watched them, growing agitated by the second. He knew he couldn't get one on his own...it would be too dangerous to against a herd by himself. Well, he supposed he would just have to go without today...a thought that greatly displeased him...

Marching through the snow with bouncy, carefree movements, Amos was having a grand time out and about exploring. Now that he was a yearling, not only could the boy travel long distances on his newfound lanky legs as well as successfully navigate deep snow instead of disappearing in it, but he could do it whenever he wanted and not have to worry about his parents getting mad at him for disappearing all of a sudden. Pausing at the top of one of the seemingly endless knolls, Amos eyed the way down with mischievous mismatched eyes. He the proceeded to take a running leap and dive onto the snow, sliding quickly down the slope and somehow between the top of the hill and the bottom he went from belly down to belly up, though his graceless and wild ride mostly just made him laugh rather than feel embarrassment.
Righting himself, the boy came up covered in powdery snow making him look a lot less dark than usual. Panting and trying to catch his breath the boy lay happily in the snow. Life was pretty great when you were on your own. No pesky brothers hanging around. No parents. Almost no one else around anywhere... Except- was that someone nearby? Frowning, Amos stared at the distant figure, nose twitching as he caught a few whiffs of the scent and tried to decipher why it was slightly familiar... Weird.

He sat at the top of the hill, eyes narrowed against the wind as he hungrily watched the small herd below. His ears laid back in agitation, lip lifting slightly with displeasure. Where the fuck was Mara when he needed her? He didn't give a damn about anyone else, though he briefly wished someone was around so he could use them as bait to try and catch one of those big cows. The thought was amusing. He could maybe find and drag some other loner along and use them as a sacrifice to the buffalo. Better they get trampled then him, after all.
As the beast turned his head to see if there was anything else around to hunt, he did a double take when he noticed that further away from him was another wolf. His eyes narrowed again as he looked at the other, the wind carrying the strangers scent. Except...it wasn't exactly a stranger. The male held a taste of Mara on his coat, and almost immediately he knew who it was. Well, not exactly who because he hadn't stayed long enough to ask about the little bastards, so their names were lost to him. Swiftly, he rose and headed down the hill with an intimidating gait, his eyes never leaving the young wolf. When he got close enough, he seemed to stare unblinking at him. "Aren't you a bit young to be on your own, pup?" He sneered. Though he knew his nephew was far from a pup now, he was curious to see who he took after. Mara? Or the bastard that had managed to seed her.

The figure seemed to have noticed him and began walking towards the boy, becoming less of a hard to make out silhouette, and more of a wolf who definitely reminded the kid of his mother. If the coat colors and markings didn't do it the scars and personality sure would. Though his mom at least was nice enough to not direct her irritability towards her own kids. Unless they were being really annoying on purpose, which might have happened once or twice when they got curious about what she'd do. Not exactly thrilled with the guy's attitude, or being called a pup, Amos gave him a sour look, rising to his paws and shaking out his slate fur. "And aren't you a little old to be all alone? Shouldn't someone be feeding you chewed up mouthfuls so you don't break you grimey yellow teeth trying to chew?" Amos wasn't really sure where that came from, but he had a sneaking suspicion he had a bit more of Mara in him than he'd previously thought. Amos just didn't enjoy tossing around insults and being angry as much as her, or this man who appeared to be her sibling and his uncle. Walk. "Speak!" "Think." |
