Just another day

Treading on paws that were well practiced in treading with careful, silent steps, Echo stalked forward, ducking briefly behind one of the large stones that stood along her path. A moments pause, then the woman's slender muzzle would reach out so she might peer around her hiding place. Eyes of bright, striking gold took in the path of her quarry as it meandered along the bottom of the canyon without a care in the world. A baby springbok was toddling along, gangling limbs taking it further into the canyon as the wolf trailed behind.
Echo was by no means an expert hunter, or an average hunter, or even all that good of a hunter... Okay, so she kind of sucked, but it was hardly her fault. Hunting was for the well-off members of the society she grew up in. Hunger had reminded her of her need to practice this skill now that she was in Boreas, and as soon as she saw the young animal wandering from it's mothers side she had followed in the hopes of a relatively easy meal. They were supposed to be fast, but Echo was fast too and this one was very young, probably born within the last few days.
When the little creature with it's awkward young body would wobble a few more paces before becoming distracted by a lizard that was crossing it's path. Seizing the opportunity as it presented itself, Echo would come shooting out from her hiding place, launching herself at the animal. Securing her jaws around it's throat, she dragged the fawn down and made the kill. It went well, considerign her inexperience, but she still felt like she was a little sloppy but in her approach and the take-down itself. Settling over her kill, Echo looked quite pleased as she pulled it to the side, so she could eat in peace without being out in the middle of the canyon.
