The Orchard was an absolute oasis in her travels. The strange, nearly eerie lands that Selene had been surrounded by, those had been... less than ideal. Some of the spooky feeling clung to her coat and her lungs, as if she could still smell the lingering stale memories and not so far off things that went bump in the night. Dusk was drifting in on the horizon, starting to fall over the trees. Shadows getting longer, and crepuscular animals were coming to eat their fill. Selene was not hungry this evening, instead weaving among the trees and watching the rabbits frolic and play.

It was dangerous to be alone with her thoughts, but at least she was busy. Mapping the land, learning the trees, taking a moment to sniff at the sweetness of fallen, overripe fruit. It was a decent evening to explore, she decided. It was a less than decent evening to explore alone. Selene's tail wagged softly to herself, taking a long breath of the crisp air.

Navigation -- The Orchard

The smell of fruit was what drew her closer to the lands, though Philly eyed the stuff as she got closer. Sure it looked good, smelled good… but would it taste good? She nosed one of the fallen, overripe apples upon the ground before sinking her teeth in, crunching up a bite. Hmm… not bad, she thought to herself. She wondered if her companion would like the stuff, or if his primary diet of bats was all he felt that he needed. Maybe, she thought to herself, she could bring Ulric here at some point… she was sure her brother would appreciate it.

Philly let her paws lead her deeper into the lands of the Orchard, a dark coated femme catching her attention. She wasn’t sure if the other had noticed her yet -- the wind was in the other female’s favor, however -- and so she paused. Philomena hadn’t had too much trouble thus far, however, and so she let out a soft bark to the other, her ears perking. Thus far she’d been rather lucky with encounters… though not all were friendly, she knew. Would this female be one of the former.. Or a darker soul?

  • Philomena has a bat hawk companion named No Face who is generally somewhere nearby if he is mentioned at all in a thread. If not mentioned, assume he is not there!

The evening was lovely, a soft breeze blowing through Selene's plush coat. Her eyes shone softly, tail wagging gently at her haunches. Tonight was one of those nights that would burn softly, warmly in the dusk. Things were lovely... and someone was barking at her. It was soft, friendly. Selene's tail wagged at her haunches, picking up a soft jog as she closed the gap between herself and the stranger. "Good evening," the words were soft, just enough to carry through the space between them. Friendly in posture, in gait. It had been what felt like an age since Selene had proper company. Even if it was just for early evening, she was thankful.

The stranger had nibbled at one of the apples, rich in color and smelling beautifully. Eyes keen on each of the trees, studying them softly as they hung thick with fruit. "How do they taste? They're in season right now," part of her adventures had involved learning about the flora and fauna, after all. Selene was honestly excited to have any sort of contact and interaction.
