Snow nightmares

Her little game had turned into a temporary obsession now that she was done trying to investigate the northern lands. Sometimes she'd stop at random places along her morning running route to build one or two of her little creations. Other times, she'd do it at random points throughout the day, or even at night. Her mother had told her it was a little 'odd' that the territory was slowly being filled with miniature snow wolves, which only served to make Caelestis grin with a wickedly amused expression. She was well aware that she'd managed to somewhat frighten her parents when they exited the den one morning to find a small row of lumpy, poorly sculpted wolf-shaped snow creatures staring back at them.
The number one rule as far as Caelestis was concerned was to never let a good thing die early. Thus, more of her little snow-buddies were cropping up here and there, but the most fun part wasn't the building, it was seeing others reacting to the things. There were probably more in obscure locations Cael frequented than would ever be discovered, but that was okay. Today she planned to observe as some definitely would be found.
She'd waited till Archon went to the den she figured he slept in the previous evening, hunkered down in the bushes for some time to ensure he wasn't planning on going for a midnight stroll. Then she proceeded to build a half dozen of her snow wolves, complete with stone eyes and noses, stick tails, and pebbles that made for some rather unnerving teeth. Maybe the teeth were too creepy... Nah. Creeping out of sight, she settled down yawning, waiting to see if the new Overseer would panic or do anything funny when he saw the creepy presents she'd left on his doorstep. If it was funny enough she might just repeat the prank on other unsuspecting pack members. Seemed like a reasonable way to introduce oneself, right? Yawning, she watched as dawn approached.

Archon's travels had left him feeling weary. When he crawled into his den, sleep found him almost immediately. He couldn't ever rule out the possibility that the wolves of Abaven would turn on him, but he had the power of God and anime on his side, so he wasn't too concerned.
The large male slept peacefully and awoke slightly after dawn. When he awoke and exited his den, Archon was greeted by a group of rather chunky wolves. At first, with sleep still thick in his eyes, Archon thought that the time had come. His heart did a flip and his hackles raised. He opened his maw to speak, but before he could, he realized they were, in fact snow.
So, it was a prank? A warning from God? A bad omen?
Archon's nose twitched. Ah- it was that pup from before. Then this was either a prank or a bad attempt to scare him. Archon decided the former suited the girl better. Archon allowed his hackles to raise to full height and he fixed himself into a looming figure.
"Now, guys, it doesn't have to be this way," he rumbled, his eyes looking at each of the snow wolves before him. "We can talk this through."
Archon hoped Caelestis was still nearby, otherwise he might look crazy.
Okay, he probably looked crazy anyway, but he was trying his best to humor the girl. After all, she had been the only one to even speak to him thus far.
Archon's eyes snapped to the closest snow wolf, "Darryl, you've known me since I arrived. How could you be the one to lead them against me?"
Archon paused for Darryl's assumed response.
"If that's the way you want it, Archon said, lowering his head, "then come and get it!"
Archon flung himself at 'Darryl' making a big show of tearing him apart, complete with grunts and growls. When he was done, he stood, panting exaggeratedly. He looked at the next nearest wolf.
"I don't want to fight you, Eugene."
Archon shook his head as if coming to a tough decision then flung himself at the imaginary Eugene. Archon tried to make this one look like more of a struggle. A part of his mind scolded him for being so ridiculous. How could he belittle himself by playing childish games? Archon reassured himself that this was indeed for the greater good into pack studies. Besides... he was possibly enjoying himself just a little.
After Eugene was vanquished, Archon rolled into a low crouch.
"There are too many of you, he panted. "I can't do it... I can't do it alone."
Archon waited to see if Caelestis would come to his aid or come against him. Who knew, maybe she would simply come and tell him how ridiculous he was being.
"At this rate... I am vanquished!"

It didn't take long for Archon to appear, looking just barely awake when he arrived at the den entrance to find himself surrounded by a number of misshapen white wolves. Even from here she could see the genuine initial reaction, the look of worry and the tufts of fur that stood up briefly along his spine. Even if it wasn't full on panic, it was amusing enough to make the chilly paws required to set up her snow creations worth it. Stifling a giggle, she watched the scene unfold in a rather unexpected way.
Rather than calling her out for setting up the lopsided and somewhat unsettling looking 'attackers', the guy played along! Now that was new. Remaining silent became impossible, so she tried her best to giggle as quietly as possible while Archon ran about like a fool, yelling and attacking the frosty enemies that stared back at him impassively with their pebble eyes. It was, admittedly, pretty damn hilarious.
As he seemed to slow she finally decided to haul herself to a stand and slink quietly closer while he charged one last snow foe. In response to his dramatic exclamation she leapt forward, plowing through the nearest and most lopsided snow wolf and grinned as her face emerged through the other side of it.
"Does this mean you owe me one for saving you from a frosty demise?"

Alas, the pup from before was indeed watching. As he made is dramatic and rather silly show, she had been watching. It was good to know that this wasn't all for nothing. As he struggled against his last foe and pretended to breathe his last, Caelestis threw herself into the battle. She eagerly erupted from the other side, asking if this meant that he owed her one for her assistance in battle.
Archon chuckled lowly, clicking his tongue in response to her. What would the pack do with such an energetic pup? Surely she had great things ahead of her with her spirit and energy.
"You mean to tell me you didn't save me out of the pure goodness of your heart?" he asked.

It was her turn to give a short laugh at his comment, lifting her head at a regal angle and offering her slyest smirk while studying the man through narrowed eyes. "Does anyone ever do anything for free?" she challenged, stepping away from the mound of snow she'd punched through to shake out her pelt before sitting down and scratching lazily behind an ear for a bit.
When her eyes landed back on Archon she grinned and added, "You have some snow... well, everywhere, really." He looked a mess at this point. Quite the start to ones day, being half frozen before the sun had even fully risen over the horizon.
