I Was Minding My Own Business When...
Azazel set foot in Boreas for the first time since he had joined the Empire. And the first thing he did was hunt down a deer to fuel him for his later wanderings. He dragged the deer's carcass to a more sheltered spot, somewhere where the ground was a little less frozen here. He had been lucky to find the doe on her own, most likely separated from her herd and left behind by the others. Azazel had been lucky enough to have found her, especially since he had forgotten to eat before he left Auster. Crimson gaze scanned the prairie in search of a decent spot until finally, he spotted a copse of trees up ahead and he promptly headed over. Once he was among the small group of trees, the male released the grip he had on the doe's throat; a dull thud sounding on the cold, hard ground as she dropped. Lifeless eyes stared back at him, the remnants of fear frozen there. The devil child licked his lips, taking a look at his surroundings for a moment before finally moving around to the does stomach. He settled down beside her, nostrils flaring at the scent of fresh meat and the metallic scent of blood in the air. The young devil then reached forward, tearing into his preys stomach, ripping flesh and entrails as he dug in like a ravenous beast.
He began to gorge himself, blood soaking the ground as his teeth tore through her. He was half-paying attention to his surroundings, though he didn't catch the initial sounds of moving brush until it had gotten a little too close. The near quiet sound of paw steps drew his attention, and when he looked up, he saw a small coyote hiding in the bushes nearby. Muzzle creased in a threatening growl, causing the coyote to disappear. It wasn't gone for long, however, before he heard it again. Azazel lifted his head again, but this time his gaze fell on several of them. Gaze narrowed on them as he quickly rose to his feet, blood staining his fur and painting his face red. He bared his teeth, growling in the most threatening way he could manage (though it wasn't hard for him to pull that off, anyway). The coyotes weren't afraid though. Instead, they moved a little closer, tongues swiping across their lips as they hungrily eyed his meal.
Azazel was larger than the coyotes, but he counted at least 4 of them standing in a semi-circle in front of him and he briefly wondered if he'd be able to take them on alone. Whether or not he could, he would damn well try if he had to. He was never one to back down from a fight, much less from coyotes! His hackles bristled along his spine, ears flattening against his head as he moved in between the doe and the pack. Teeth flashed in a wicked grin as he practically dared the mongrels to get closer. He feigned a charge at them, leaping a couple feet forward. It didn't scare them much, however, and Azazel figured they must be pretty desperate for food if they were willing to risk stealing his. He didn't have experience with coyotes, so he wasn't entirely sure what their normal behavior was like. If they were like his own kind, however, then he had an idea to base that off of. He kept his eyes on them, unaware that the one coyote that had been watching him had come up from behind in an attempt to sneak his kill away. Azazel turned around like a snake ready to strike, charging forward at the one coyote and knocking it to the ground before it managed to quickly skitter away.
That was all the others needed to begin their assault.
Almost as soon as he had done that, the other four made their own moves, closing in around him and heckling him. Azazel snarled and growled, whirling around as one managed to bite his tail, cutting the skin while simultaneously pulling fur out. Unwilling to back down, Azazel decided he was going all in, and he would teach these guys a lesson! The moment a coyote rushed in towards his left, Azazel turned and slammed his full weight into it. Teeth flashed in an instant, grabbing the coyote by the side of the throat and he shook it around before he was forced to let go. The other three had attacked him at once, forcing him to the ground as he flailed beneath them. He could feel them biting his flesh, but the pain and scent of blood only fueled his rage even more. Azazel kicked out, hind paws making contact with a face here, a chest there, but it wasn't quite enough to get them off.
He snarled with rage when he felt a sharp pain in his left ear, realizing then that one had managed to grip it and was trying to practically tear it off. Azazel managed to get enough wiggle room to get to his feet, his ear still caught in the coyote's jaws. The moment he got his feet under him, however, he pushed forward with open jaws, grabbing the coyote's throat with an iron grip. The momentum and position caused his ear to rip, but the adrenaline and bloodlust dulled the pain to the point he couldn't feel it. He bit down on the coyote's throat as hard as he could, crushing the coyote's windpipe. He whirled around on the others that had backed off a bit, the lifeless form of the coyote still clenched firmly in his jaws.
Eyes now wide with fear, the remaining attackers slowly backed off, second-guessing whether or not this was still worth the effort. Ultimately, they decided it wasn't anymore now that two of their comrades were dead. Only when they ran off and out of sight did Azazel drop his victim. He stood there for a few moments, breathing heavily. The adrenaline was wearing off almost as quickly as it had come, and he was beginning to feel the pain from his torn ear. The coyote that had grabbed him had managed to tear enough where his ear would now bear a deep V-shaped cut. Growling at himself for his lack of awareness, he sat down to try and recuperate before doing anything else.

She then spotted some dandelions not too far off either and grabbed some of those. By then, she was walking with three legs- front left paw held up so as to not get anything caught in the cobwebs. She smiled, wagging her tail as she spotted the last thing that she needed: Dock Leaves. She set down her dandelions, combining then with the leaves that she stripped from the green plant. Good thing she was out so early into fall! She would need to stock up on some herbs! Cis continued towards the other wolf, enjoying herself as she finally reached him, even though it had only been like, five minutes. She set down the herbs, glancing at the dead coyote once before speaking. "Could I um...treat your wounds?" she asked, her tail wagging a bit as she looked up at him. walking talking |
