CADENCE DESTRUCTION
To say that Cadence was lost would be an understatement. She really had no idea where she was going. All she knew was one word. Abaven. However, it was terribly hard to find a pack when you only knew the name. A word didn't have a scent to follow, and there were no signs along her path. All she had was a name and a faint memory of some directions from her home to this mysterious pack. Of course she could search for Arpeggio's scent, try and find her sister that way, but that was almost like a needle in a haystack. At least a pack's land couldn't move around, couldn't lose its scent in the rain.

And yet, she was deplorably lost.

With a sign she moved on, trotting through some fields she vaguely remembered from her mother's stories. It had been a year since Harmony left her mate and Cadence behind, taking only Peggy to this mysterious land called Abaven. And it had been a year since word returned that her mother died shortly after arriving. Cadence felt the sorrow, the loss of losing her mother so young, but deep in
her heart she knew it was time. And then-

Wait a minute.

Blue eyes widened slightly when she recognized a scent in the air. It was...was it?! Peggy! With a gasp she routed herself in her place, hoping she hadn't wandered too far into the pack if this was indeed their land. But it was here. Fresh, strong, a scent that had never left her memory. Tears sprang to her eyes as she became rather...nostalgic, the loneliness and despair of missing her lost sister rising as a lump in her throat. Without another thought she threw her head back, calling for her sister, for her family, for whoever she could call and meet and love. She was so so lonely, but maybe...maybe now she would have the large family her mother had always spoke of.

Peggy's route had taken her to the borders, and on impulse rather than orders she had taken up a patrol. Whenever she was actually back in pack lands that was her tendency. Take up a patrol on her own, or tidy the mess burrowing creatures had left of the substantial herb stores in Kassanders old den. There were extra FURS and hides there too, enough to comfortably furnish someone, but no one else ever went there so everything just sat unused.

She was thrown off balance when a sudden call cut through her musing that was simultaneously unfamiliar and one of the most familiar voices in the world, a voice she had grown up with but had grown up itself on the intervening seasons since she had last heard the sound of its younger self. Peggy gaped in disbelief a moment, before that disbelief turned to a pure ringing not. Bounding like a puppy she leaped to answer the call and, as she came upon her slightly darker, slightly smaller sibling, Arpeggio's voice called out in a yipping screech of welcome before she attempted to tackle Cadence.

Cadence was practically vibrating with excitement and anticipation, hoping that she wasnt wrong. It had to be her. It just had to be. Theres no way she could have been mistaken, could she? And the more she looked around the more she recognized this place as the place belonging to her mother's stories. This was it, this was Abaven. It was like her heart was singing in her excitement, her head a little light. She had made it.

And then. Oh, then, there was Peggy. First she heard her running, then she heard her voice, and then she felt the solid weight of her taller sister tackling into her. A laugh, bright and happy, burst from Cadence's chest, and she began to cry as she shoved her face in her sisters fur. She wiggled and pressed against her, just enjoying the feel of her sibling, solid and alive and so so close. "Ive missed you" She giggled through her happy sobs, looking Peggy. She just couldnt believe it. After so long, and such a long trip, she had finally found her dear sister. "How are you! How have you been?! You look so healthy and big! All grown up." She giggled, unable to keep her excitement to herself. Finally! Finally, after so long..

A howl at her border? She was reluctant to leave her little ones, but she did have Epitaph to look after them. She would be sure to keep whatever this was about as short as possible. She smiled at her den-mate, the recently freed slave who was still adjusting to pack life, and wiggled herself out from underneath her babies. He moved into place, curling around them to keep them warm.

She trusted him completely with this job, she knew he couldn’t harm a fly, and she whispered a soft thank you to him as she paused to take in this sight. Her two tiny babies curled around the older wolf. Her heart melted as she looked at their sleeping form, but she couldn’t stay there forever. She turned, and slipped out of the den.

She arrived in time to see the reunion, Peggy greeting the stranger with excitement and familiarity, a the girl in return hugging her. She caught some of the words as she walked over, hearing the strange talk about Peggy being all grown up. Shaye still wobbled, it would take time to work off the baby fat to her belly, but she stopped and greeted them both with a smile. “Hello there, hello Peggy.” Shaye said, deciding she didn’t have the heart right now to tell off this wolf who had welcomed her member with such love. “I’m Shaye, the Alpha of Abaven.” she greeted the stranger, giving her a chance to introduce herself.

Her sister wiggled against her, but Peggy was alarmed to find that Cadence was crying. She pulled away to look down at the other woman, her mismatched eyes suddenly shadowed in concern. Was something wrong? Had something gone wrong back at home with Dad and the others? But despite her tears Cadence's words were spoken in a happy giggle, and the sudden constriction of worry in Peggy's chest eased. She pressed her brow against Cadence's. "I've missed you too," she voiced, finding herself needing to force the words past a lump that had suddenly formed in her throat. "I wasn't sure if anyone else was going to decide to come too." The past year of uncertainty and fear and grief nearly caught up to her all at once, but she swallowed it back.

Shaye's voice nearly made her jump out of her skin, and Peggy nearly fell over she turned her head so fast to regard the alpha who had appeared seemingly out of nowhere. "Shaye," she gaped, then shook herself out of her surprise. "Shaye, this is my sister, Cadence. Cadence, this is our cousin Shaye, Motif's older daughter." Cadence would have grown up with the same stories of the Destruction family she did, and while Peggy hadn't been personally familiar with Shaye's name in particular, her mother had spoken of her own siblings.

Cadie grinned up at her sister, blue eyes a glitter with happiness. Everything was perfect now. Sure, she had left her siblings and father behind, but at this time in their life it was pretty much a given that the kids would go out and make their way. But Peggy? Peggy had been missed for so long. It was like getting a small piece of her mother back, a familiar piece and someone who had seen her mother at the end. So she pressed her forehead against her again, not wanting to let go of her warmth so soon. "I had to come, see how you were doing." She responded with a smile. "Gotta say, you seem to be doing pretty good."

And then someone else came on the scene, and the second she felt her presence Cadence pulled away from her sister and looked up at the stranger. She blinked large blue eyes as she reguarded the woman, smiling softly when she greeted her, and then Peggy by name. A friendly face, it was so nice. When she introduced herself as Alpha, the smile turned sheepish. She was a bit over the border, wasn't she. Or perhaps the alpha had come solely at her call. It seemed likely, but Cadence couldn't help but feel anxious that she had done something wrong. She tilted her head towards her sister, blinking slowly as she introduced the alpha as something a bit more close to home. "Cousin?!" She gaped before grinning brighter. More family! Oh, this was so lovely.

But of course family didn't negate respect, and this woman, this Shaye, was the alpha of Abaven, and the alpha of the pack Cadence would like to call home. So, she dipped her head softly. "Cadence Destruction," She introduced herself, despite the fact that Peggy had already done that. "It's so lovely to meet you. I am terribly sorry if I trespassed, it wasn't my intent." She smiled up at the woman, lifting her head fully but respectfully. "I came to find my sister, and I was hoping Abaven may welcome me? Mother told us so many stories of these lands and our extended family, I've always dreamed of experiencing it myself."
