After spending the entire winter practically bed bound in the den, it was almost a necessity for Amaris to finally spread her legs once she got clearance from her mother. Winter was depressing enough, but being young and adventurous but not having the energy to journey much farther that the castle corridors, well, safe to say she needed to get better and fast. And so she did. Now Amaris was back to full strength, journeying farther and farther from that suffocating den and back out into the world. Today was especially nice however, considering that while the creamy princess was out for a light run, she came across an unusual sight in open portion of the garden. A flock of peafowl hens were plucking away at some of the vegetation, basking in the warm sun while their newly hatched young ran between their legs. It was captivating watching them graze so commonly in a territory obviously occupied by predators, until she watched one of the hens lift her head and immediately zoned in on Amaris staring blankly at them.

In an instant, the hen sounded out a warning call, and all the other hens frantically looked for danger and rounded up their young. Curious, the young woman would dare to take a step in their direction, only to confirm their boundaries for fight or flight to take place. As predicted, the hens closest to Amaris quickly began to run in the opposite direction, which made all the other hens become scared and run away as well. A grin made it's way onto her maw as Amaris felt adrenaline rush through her veins and the need to give chase triggered her paws to hit the ground, and fast. Inexperienced hunter ran straight for the heart of the gathered flock, only to have them spread out in every direction! Amaris came to a skidding halt as her head turned this way and that, watching the hens dash away in different directions and eventually into the surrounding trees. It was disappointing to not have been able to catch at least one, to have been able to bring it back home and offer it up to her family for dinner. But at the same time, Amaris couldn't feel sad about it, because she learned what not to do next time!
