Ocena

To think that their home had been this close to the evidence of the volcano's wrath and they had been entirely unaware of it. The ashen plains were spread out before Ocena, with no greenery sprouting for as far as her eye could see. Mismatched eyes narrowed slightly, and Ocena glowered at the ashen lands. This surely couldn't be that old. The eruption had to have been fairly recent. That meant that their home was truly as dangerous as Gargoyle had claimed. She had believed him, of course. But this was a vivid reminder of the strength of volcanoes. She had been there when Mount Ameni erupted, when her home went down in a fiery rain. And now she was looking at what could have quite possibly been the aftermath of the eruption in Glaciem if it had been a lot colder and snowier.

A heavy sigh stirred up the ash around her as Ocena began to pad along, picking up each paw as high as she could. She would have children soon, and the thought of letting them come into contact with this ash made Ocena shudder. Maybe it was just ash, maybe it wouldn't have any affect on her children. But Ocena didn't want to take any chances. She had seen the affects that a volcano could have. And spending much time around this ash probably wouldn't be good for them. Maybe she should leave soon. Ditch this place and find somewhere that didn't stink of ash.

Volcanoes. Ugh. Would she ever be able to get away from them? She had soon far too many in her short span of years. If she never saw one again it would be far too soon.

Valkyrie over looked the desecrated plain with a frown on her face. Ash blew in the wind and covered the ground with a fine layer of death. The aura of this land was dark and unhealthy, and the air smelled bitter. What in the Goddess' name happened here... Her stomach churned with unease and she broke out of her own mind with a low growl. It would surely do her no good to linger in a place like this. She was never one to let her surroundings, or anything for that matter, get to her. The fact that just this simple landscape was disturbing her was reason enough to move on. She hadn't gone far, however, when her eyes caught sight of a small figure in the distance. Interest piquesd and happy for the distraction, Valkyrie kicked her gait to a trot and made a b-line for what was rapidly becoming a small, dark, and pregnant wolf who seemed rather unhappy about being there.

Her sense of chivalry flared and a grin wormed it's way onto her face. A spring came into her step and she pranced onwards, calling out as she grew closer. "Excuse me, miss?" Her voice was its usually silken smooth, with a slightly purring undertone. Her tail arched over her and plumed, her legs took long and powerful strides. She chuckled to herself as she drew closer, realizing that the femme was quite small compared to her massive frame. The nearer she got the slower her pace grew until she was walking once more. She paused a ways back, not wanting to frighten the expecting mother unduly. "Hello, my name is Valkyrie Brynhildr. Are you quite alright?" She asked again now that the conversation could be more personal. It seemed to her that her day had just taken a turn for the better.

Ocena

The sudden appearance of another wolf was enough to make Ocena jump slightly, head swinging in the direction of the other. She relaxed slightly at the polite tone of the female as she spoke, letting the tension melt from her frame. Normally, she was far more trusting than this, but she had a litter to look after her, and was more on guard than usual. "My name is Ocena, and I suppose I'm all right. Just not a huge fan of volcanoes." And the award for understatement of the century went to...

Snorting softly, Ocena twitched her ears as she examined the significantly larger female. "What brings you out here, Valkyrie?" Ocena asked curiously, tilting her head back to examine the other properly. She was black, with red stretching up her legs. An interesting looking creature with an interesting name. Ocena wouldn't even want to attempt pronouncing that last name. She was almost glad that she didn't actually have a last name right then. Was her name that difficult to pronounce? Hmm. She supposed that to wolves who spoke another language, different from her own, that it probably was. But Ocena had never really met any of those wolves.

Ah well. Her thoughts were wandering a bit too much today, it seemed.
