Vail has forgotten what spring in Abaven was like. Muddy mostly. However wet and muddied she was though, Vail was glad for the returning warmth. The plants were growing again, and she could go out collecting. Her pale form trotted through the plains early that morning. She could feel the most in her lungs, but the sun promised to burn it away within the hour.

Her dainty paws made squelching sounds whenever she hit a rather moist spot, though her white screech owl Notch attempted to guide her through the deepest puddles. He would suddenly become distracted by a tiny snake in the grass. Some of his favorite meals. She sighed as he perched on her shoulders with his most recent snack. He could have at least picked something she found appetizing.

speech & thoughts

Lucine wandered the pack territories in attempt to memorize her new home. She had settled in with her mom and dad, but the girl was still finding herself keeping distant from the others. She was still in a funk, missing the company of her brother. To make her funk even worse was to find out that her grandmother, who she had just met, was dying. Her mother had told here there were several others her age and softly insisted she should go meet them, but she found herself struggling to do so. Spring had made Abaven muddy and though she didn't mind the mud it was making her coat look like a mess.

She had tried to move at a quiet pace, but with the mud it was impossible. No matter how she tried, there was still the squishing sound her paws made in the mud. So after a while she gave up and just moved at a normal pace for her, blue eyes taking in the sights around her. Soon a bright pale figure came into view. Another wolf and she had a beautiful owl perched on her shoulder. She found herself curious, like her grandmother this wolf looked like it had a companion and she was curious at the nature of their relationship.

She felt drawn to the women, despite not wanting to really be around for others and she let out a small bark to let them know of her approach. She closed in letting about a 3 yards between them before stopping.

"Hello," she said.

While Notch wasn’t paying attention to their surroundings, Vail was. The soft squelch of paws in the mud quickly alerted the albino Destruction to another presence. She looked around, unable to make out anything with the sun hidden away behind the clouds. The presence drew more near though, and the scent came before the voice. A young woman, probably not in her second year. She gave a soft hello and Vail offered a smile.

She was trying her best not to feel bitter towards her packmates. Her own sister was the hardest, and while she should have stepped up with Rhyme’s kids and helped to mother them with Tana being so scarce, she couldn’t do it. Vail hadn’t told anyone but her husband, but she had conceived in the last few days of winter. However, before she even really knew they existed her body rejected them.

Vail had mostly been trying to ignore the loss, but not acknowledging it was worse for her heart. She wore a brave face, but she felt like she was breaking inside. ”Hello,” She answered back after only a moment, her voice hiding any turmoil within. Notch continued to munch on his snack. Vail still couldn’t quite make out the girl’s features. ”I’m Vail, this is Notch.” She gave a little more information as she gestured to the owl. ”Are you new in Abaven?”
