Tracks in the snow
He was trying to not let things bother him, the fact he once again had no ties anywhere had left him feeling the need to travel again. Maybe that was his fate in life, to forever travel and to never settle into one spot. He was a sucker and so far that had gotten him no where in life, despite his parents telling him that it was the proper way to be. He was beginning to wonder if this nice guy attitude was worth it when it constantly let him down.
Huffing he headed deeper into the plains, pushing back his thoughts and trying to be more positive like he normally was. After all, Shaye was still practically a stranger, why would it bother him this much. It’s not like he had any real chance anyway? He shook his head as he moved quietly through the snow letting his mind drift to what he was going to do. Right now he was unprepared, and leaving during winter was a bad idea. He knew he would be here at least until spring and maybe he would find something else to tie him down to one spot.
He moved forth until he came upon some tracks. Stopping he analyzed the tracks to figure out what animal they had come from. It wasn’t a hoof track and it wasn’t a small rodent track. Looking closer he realized it was a bobcat track and it made his eyes narrow. With pups around this wasn’t a good thing and he fallowed the tracks. It wasn’t long until the stride got longer on the tracks, telling him the creature was now running. He fallowed all the way to the border and discovered that the wide strides tracks kept going, good the bobcat didn’t need to stick around.

He was patrolling the border today, something he did every day to keep himself occupied. With the threat of Elias and Ty's pack looming closer, he needed to remain vigilant. Not only that, but the influx of predators near the borders worried him. There were two new batches of pups to protect, and he'd be damned if he let a predator slip past his radar and got to them. Granted he wasn't the only one capable of doing patrols and protecting the fragile lives within the pack, he just did it to keep himself at ease.
As the wind shifted, he detected the scent of a bobcat. With narrowed eyes he quickened his pace to the source, but by the time he arrived he noticed someone else had caught on to it as well. The man was a stranger to him, his scent was that of a fresh pack member. With two wolves on the border where the bobcat left, he didn't think it would come back anytime soon. "You noticed it too, huh?"

He stood and stared in that direction for a while, nose twitching to take in the scents in the air. The fact that it had been in the pack lands was unnerving. What had the animal's reasoning been? Was it simply a young dumb one that realized to late that it was in a wolf pack. Or was it looking to get to the pups and ended up getting spooked by another member of the pack. He tried to mull over the thought of chasing it down, or simply chasing it far from here. His left ear shifted backward as the other pack member spoke. He slowly nodded his head staring at the tracks before pulling his gaze away to look at the other member. "Do you think it's a good idea to hunt it down?" he asked the other male. Gustav had never had experience with predators in pack lands, so how to deal with it was new to him. Being a loner there was plenty of times he had run into predators, most of the time it was an easy fix, just chase them away or move, but now he was unsure if this bobcat would stay away unless they tried chasing it some.

His ears were met with a question. He thought it over for a moment before nodding. "We probably should. It crossed into pack lands, but we don't know why. It could be a younger bobcat that didn't know any better, or an older one just trying to get at the pups. Either way, we should send the message across that it best not happen again," Another option might be it was just ballsy and testing its luck, but he didn't think that was the case. He glanced at the other male then, realizing he didn't know who he was. "I'm Acere by the way," He waited a moment for him to introduce himself before he continued. "Have you ever tracked down another predator before?" It was alright if he hadn't. He wouldn't judge the guy. Not many others had as much experience with fighting or tracking down other predators like he had, and he had done it many times over the course of his life. And not only did he have the experience, but the scars to prove it.
