Sand stretched for endless miles here. The sea of golden sand dotted each and every surface his red eyes settled on, not a tree, or source of life in sight, just the passing wind and constant shifting of the grains beneath his coal paws. Still, he moved onwards, he?d never seen anything at all like this, having grown in the isolated mountains, he was used to more colder, snow filled climates. But, this was a welcome change of scenery, he was more than willing to see what all of these sand dunes where so selfish as to hide form him, he?d hand also heard form travelers that the desert was an unforgiving and hellish place to dwell on, thankfully, Crimzen had traveled here when the sun wasn?t so intense. The world around him was nearly dark, looming gradually into the hours when the sun descended pass the horizon, the light beginning to diminish and darkness taking it?s place, in casing the Barren Dunes, in it?s usually ominous shade.

When the cool air, brushing against his frame, the steaming sun seemed to be all but a distant memory. It almost felt as if that world had changed with the recovering star, showing a new face he?d never seen, lifting his skull he set his eyes sky wards, the heavens where bright with stars, ever infinite against the shadowy heavens. The rogue was amazed to witness that this arid graveyard could hold such a treasure, it was surely a sight he would never forget, he wondered what more this place had to offer, other secret that laid hidden here, for only the patient, and determined. Although, not all seemed to be resting at this hour, something was still about, refusing to retire form the desserts earlier scorching heat, ears twitching at the strange sound, he lowers his crown to look onwards, tilting his head at what could lurk at such an hour. Always the adventurous lad, he follows the hissing sound, all to eager to find out what-else would be exposed to him, the beast pauses abruptly, narrowing his eyes at the source of what he?d been hearing. They where small, but, very fierce, swirling amongst the sandy floor wildly, wind spiraling upwards giving the impression of piercing through the sky, they danced across the gold ground, moving this way and that. His red eyes watched them with amazement, what where these called? Dust Devils. He finally recalls, as his crimson stare never left any of them, his puppish mind itched to dance with them, however, he would hold himself for now, awaiting just the right moment to join the twisters, and so, he lowered himself down to the grainy sand, transfixed.

Slate had been atop a large sand dune looking over the sandy land. He was out here to avoid a lot of the rain that the spring brought along with the fact that he usually came here to avoid other wolves. His white pelt was covered in the sandy dust and his dark grey paws were berried in the warm sand. The spring warmth was much better than the snowy winter or the heat of the summer. The man had figured out where to be and when to get the ideal temperature.

Pearl, as always, wasn't far away. On occasion he would watch her play with a small lizard or ride on the back of a large dessert tortoise that would snap at her when it got tired of her. When she got hungry she would either catch a kangaroo rat, a jack rabbit or even a small cape ground squirrel. She always avoided the spiders, snakes, and scorpions as they were poisonous and could kill her easily.

Through the day the two usually only spotted coyotes and desert foxes along with the occasional cougar and wolf. But he had never before seen a wolf come into the dessert and start messing with the snakes. The man was going to watch, just let him get himself bitten. Pearl, the sweet little fox however, wasn't going to let him get himself killed. Slate stood to stop her but she was already half way down the dune before he could get to her. A sigh escaped his maw as he followed slowly behind her.

"I would get away from those snakes if I were you." The ivory fox stated from two or three yards behind him. "One bite and they could kill you, and they do bite." The large white and grey male stopped beside her as her words stopped.

He wasn't playing with snakes. xD Just watching the Dust Devils.

He laid there, eyeing the swirling sand, the rogue was quite sure that it would possibly be close to a luck if he?d ever catch a sight such as this, in a blissful night in the desert. As soon as the show was over, he would wonder his way back where he came, in search of other places this new place had to offer, but, for now this place would do. It was then that the swirling sounds of the dust devils where disturbed, by..a voice? The outsider cranes his skull, looking behind his shoulder to realize that he wasn?t the only wondering soul out in the sands, there where two here, one was a small fox, while the other was a male with emerald eyes. Crimzen blinks, shifting tilting his crown with his usual confused gaze, he was sure that he?d heard a female voice, and the wolf behind the only lass present was clearly a male. Pulling himself up onto his paws, the man shakes his pelt, although very much in vain as nearly all of it stayed fastened to his silvery cloak, ignoring it for now, he approached the duo. Blood eyes still observant, very much interested in why they where here.

Keeping his paws as steady as he could against the cooling sand, he moves a tad closer, still a little ways away, making sure he kept himself mindful of a respectful distance, he finally speaks, acknowledging the previous warning giving to him just a few moment ago, ?Snakes? What Snakes?? Eyes giving a curious glance back where he was at first resting, focused back on the two newcomers, the question being of little concern, he was hardly the one to be warned of any dangerous, quite arrogantly feeling he could take care of himself, the Avenger was still growing out of his childish ways of the past, the days when he was younger since his puphood he?d been quite shunned. Coal lipped dipped to a small frown, he hoped these two weren?t here to squash his fun, lowering his gaze to stare quizzing at the small fox, he hardly expect to see any of them out here. Bypassing that, he peered over at the green eyed brute, ?Do you live here?? Crimzen inquires, wanting to change the subject of potential dangerous.

(ooc: Ohhhhh, ok....i got snakes out of the description....my bad)

At first the stranger hadn't seemed to understand where the voice had come from and she moved one of her ears sideways in slight irritation. She watched him for a moment before her ears went back to their normal upright position. It wasn't long before he spoke asking what snakes. Slate opened his maw to tell the man he was sorry for the interruption when the small girl made herself heard once more. "What snakes?!?! Are ya blind man...they are right over there not but two feet from your 'dancing' sand." she moved by him to kick sand at the two snakes. "shoo, you evil little devils." she said to them in a hushed tone as one slithered right over the top of the other.

When and only when she was sure they wouldn't come after her she aren't back to Slate's side. They both watched as the male frowned only to look down at Pearl and then back up at Slate. Did they live there? Well that answer was a dibble answer. "we are loners or as some call us rouges. Our home is any place a pack does not own." the mans voice was deep but friendly...for now.
